To ask about trolls

NOT a TAAT - just inspired by a certain one

Tell us about your fave MN troll

I liked the woman who had a dead husband who hand painted the childrens bedrooms, and now she was remarried she wanted all of her stepchildren to sleep in one room so that her children from her first marriage wouldn't have to give up their bedrooms even for one night!

Surely IANBU to ask what your favorite troll on MN has been?!

GabbyLogon?

zukiecat · 16/02/2017 16:31

Who are the ones posting about sick children?

I can only think of one thread like that, Surely Not!

Stranded Bear was good for a laugh

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 16:32

Stranded Bear was a hidden pregnancy one, wasn't she?

My parents read the Daily Mail, that's the last place I want to end up.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 16:33

Blatherskite I want to say Brian? But not sure if that was the name he used or the name we gave him.

WannaBe · 16/02/2017 16:33

One of the first threads I ever read on MN was the pirate sex noises thread. It in fact went down in legend for years.

But back then people were more open about calling amusing threads but these days everyone just reports because of all the vampiric ones.

TBH though I am baffled at how people get sucked in by the serious ones like Oliver's army, and by the likes of TDWP. But I suspect that some of the more serious contributors have a bit of a rescuer complex to fulfill in those instances.

But when you e.g. Look at Oliver's army, she was posting from the hospital, with pictures of the bruises, messages that he was writing to his army etc all in the midst of a diagnosis. How anyone actually fell for that is beyond me.

Similarly TDWP posted from outside her house having been locked out by her H. Apparently. So we're meant to believe that someone gets locked out of their house and their first port of call is mumsnet? Really?

Agree re 'Oliver's army' I was shocked at how posters believed that tbh

BeMorePanda · 16/02/2017 16:37

gnushoes I'm pretty sure the Chutney Twunt threads were real

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 16:37

I remember pirate sex Wannabe. It was a completely different site back in those days - so much smaller. I think people can get sucked in by the drama of a thread where things are happening in 'real time'. The place marking, asking for updates, shaking of pom-poms, etc. often gets a bit ridiculous. I think posters get overinvested and lose sight of reality.

ChicRock · 16/02/2017 16:39

Yoni guy was hilarious.

Can't stand sick children trolls, or pregnancy and miscarriage trolls.

There was a several thread ongoing one not that long ago - The nursery manager who found out that her nursery had employed her DH's ex OW. She was ever so (too) reasonable, tried to build an amicable working relationship with the OW. Then the OW got her DH's phone number from a post it note that OP had conveniently left lying around, and started text-stalking him.

In the middle of all this, surprise surprise, the OP discovered she was pregnant.

The escalation and timing of each incident was impeccable, but she just over egged the pudding at the point the OW apparently drunkenly called or text the DH begging him to come over and shag her.

Maudlinmaud · 16/02/2017 16:39

PrivatePike can't remember what the thread was now, but you and I got told off by hq, I posted a picture of a sock puppet.

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 16:41

Nursery manager was a troll? Shock

I only saw the first part of that - didn't ring any alarms for me and I'm usually pretty good at spotting trolls.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 16:41

Can anyone give a non-sensational summary of the Oliver's Army thread - I don't recall that at all?

Chutney twat was for real. Although because the OP found out she was pregnant just after he left, I can understand how people might have thought Hmm But I think the thread went to OTBT, and the OP has posted on here about how all is well and her DC is lovely and Chutney Twat is still a twat.

I have a theory about some trolls. Wanna hear it?

Maudlinmaud · 16/02/2017 16:43

Well it was clearly a troll but rules are rules I guess. Grin

Hatemylifenow · 16/02/2017 16:44

page op posted saying her son had classic leukaemia symptoms - then did a sort of live update thread as he was tested and diagnosed, including pictures of him in hospital.

Was awful. I had suspicions it was bollocks from the start because who would do a live update thread on MN when that was happening??

BalloonSlayer · 16/02/2017 16:44

I didn't think Mamazon was a troll! I thought she had met with some people and even been on one of the video clips on here. She lived nearish to me so although I never met her she always pinged my radar in case she mentioned someone/something I knew, so I remember her well.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 16:44

I think I remember seeing an "innocently" placed photo of a sock puppet...was it dark (maybe brown?) with googly eyes?
