To ask about trolls

HairsprayBabe · 16/02/2017 15:05

NOT a TAAT - just inspired by a certain one

Tell us about your fave MN troll

I liked the woman who had a dead husband who hand painted the childrens bedrooms, and now she was remarried she wanted all of her stepchildren to sleep in one room so that her children from her first marriage wouldn't have to give up their bedrooms even for one night!

Surely IANBU to ask what your favorite troll on MN has been?!

OP posts:
Hatemylifenow · 16/02/2017 15:31

I liked the young mum in South Kensington whose family owned a chain of luxury hotels who didn't work but who couldn't be arsed to get up to take her imaginary child to school.

She also started another thread asking if the Shangri-La Hôtel in Paris was suitable for a toddler

It was obvious trollery but people bought it!!!

Hatemylifenow · 16/02/2017 15:34

Also a fan of the very young woman (usually 18 or something) who is in a serious relationship and trying for a baby with her DP, both of whom have steady well paid jobs but whose families aren't happy that they're ttc.

People get v defensive on those threads but it's always a troll.

ExConstance · 16/02/2017 15:34

The one whose husband was nicknamed "Sid" and shagging a neighbour. Her travails went on and on, starting with getting access to his phone using the dogs birthdate or something. The mistress had a penchant for thigh boots I think. It was better than novel and I knew it was all made up from day one.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 15:34

MadHatters no no, the mistress wasn't the best friend! The best friend was Lovely Friend who was being a tower of strength or some such - there is (or was) an MNer who changed her username to LovelyFriend, possibly during the spoof thread. And I remember the cheating DH was a Top Civil Servant.

At the risk of being a bit too TAAT-y...AIBU to be inordinately proud that MNHQ used my suggestion for the wording of a recent deletion message?

OnHold · 16/02/2017 15:34

I loved the crap novel writer troll. Her DH shagging the OW in her wedding dress one and the knickers over the balcony into hot guys garden one.

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 15:35

Brian from Hull and his yoni massage! Though I'm not sure that was a true troll - I think he might have been serious.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 16/02/2017 15:35

Oh I remember south Kensington mum. She asked about how much personal time is normal to have and none of her dates ever added up.

Jellybean83 · 16/02/2017 15:36

It's not my best (because it was sad) but the one that affected me the most was the one with the little boy who was found in school on the climbing frame with his jumper around his neck.

I just felt heart sorry for the OP and the little boy, and it kind of played on one of my worst fears as a parent, your child being so desperately unhappy that they want to die, especially a child so young. I know lots of posters were piling in to call troll but I got so pissed off they would do that, purely because things like this can happen and I'd rather be taken in by a troll than to tell a person who was going through that that they weren't believed. I mean of course report if you think it's fake but I felt so uneasy about the on thread troll hunting.

I did feel sad afterwards that someone could lie about something so horrible but I'm glad that little boy didn't exist.

mouldycheesefan · 16/02/2017 15:36

The wedding dress one was believable until she revealed the wedding dress element. 😂 But it was a great story. 10/10. I don't mind trolls they are entertaining.

OnHold · 16/02/2017 15:36

Bessimo and Mitmoo were always good for a laugh.

MadHattersWineParty · 16/02/2017 15:37

PageStillNotFound thanks, I thought I might be remembering that incorrectly!

Nice work on the deletion message Wink

There was one who was going to leave her son with his Grandad and take a job in London earning £70,000, even though she was only very newly qualified and only about 19!

Notanotherpawpatrol · 16/02/2017 15:38

Formerly, does the party planning possible troll have mummy in their username? Crap spelling and seem to have no grasp on reality?

Maudlinmaud · 16/02/2017 15:40

Ah I found it. ReesiRoo was the poster. It was quite upsetting content and insidious.
No doubt they are a pbp who visits often.

gandalf456 · 16/02/2017 15:40

I like the one who thought people who bought antibiotics in Spain should go to jail or he'll.

Notanotherpawpatrol · 16/02/2017 15:41

Mitmoo was a troll?! I don't remember any of her specific threads, but I knew her name :(
The hardest trolls I've come across (in terms of probably too invested in and really angry and gutted when it was revealed) were thedevilwearsprada and dizzymare. I'm almost certain they were their usernames. Their trollerry went on for months and realed people in :( it was deviating for so many people.

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 15:41

Beesimo! She was fun. With her lads and lasses. I saw her recently commenting BTL in the Guardian. Some homespun folky traveller lore IIRC.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 16/02/2017 15:41

I really don't remember her username. Just that she has a very successful party planning business and I think dresses up as Disney princesses.

I'm always confused by 18/19 year olds who find themselves pregnant but are earning shit loads of money. They never tell you what job they do either.

ExplodedCloud · 16/02/2017 15:42

There was the man downstairs troll. Rampant shagging ensued. A creative writing exercise presumably but it didn't quite work in real time.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 15:44

Was Wedding in Maui a troll?

I have utterly shit trolldar, and am a little bit in awe of those who can spot them a mile off.

BubbleWrapQueen · 16/02/2017 15:44

Hang on, thedevilwearsprada was a troll?!?! 😯😯😯

Just saw the deletion message on one post about going for a curry. Knew it sounded familiar....

MadHattersWineParty · 16/02/2017 15:45

The DIsney party-business one I'm sure is Pandora something or other. I could be wrong but I think she also had a thread where she wanted to evert her village Beauty Pagent and be the village princess at 26. and her mates were telling her it was all a bit tragic

ILoveCheeseMoreThanYou · 16/02/2017 15:45

How do you know when a troll is a troll? Is it just assumption?

OnHold · 16/02/2017 15:46

Copingnotveryquiety had everyone filled for a time.

OnHold · 16/02/2017 15:46

Fooled

ElderDruid · 16/02/2017 15:48

What's this shoe troll? I'm guessing poo troll was just some pretending to be stuck in a loo?
