I saw a message she had put out earlier about how sad she was that children are being denied safety and an education based purely on circumstances beyond their control.

BigBadgers · 28/01/2017 19:36

I feel the same caprianna it feels very odd to find myself living though a genuinly historic time. Knowing that these events will become the subject of history lessons and PhD thesis in years to come.

woman12345 · 28/01/2017 19:37

Brexit and the EU referendum feels very unimportant now
NOT!!!!! we're next!

amispartacus · 28/01/2017 19:39

I remember the Berlin wall coming down. The world seemed so positive.

Of course you are right woman I am trying to keep in mind that all these things are important if we are to stop this happening here as well. We have to sieze this opportunity and not ignore what is going on in our own backyard.

By the way, does anyone know of any protests going on in London about the immigration business? I feel like going and shouting outside the American Embassy right now.

M0stlyHet · 28/01/2017 19:40

On the subject of "we're next", have Labour announced who they're going to get to stand in Stoke against Paul Nuttall? They should be pulling out all the stops to win this one. (Lest anyone be in any doubt about just how bad Nutall is, he tweeted comparing women who'd had abortions to Myra Hindley. Even by the standards of UKIP, he is a shitty skidmark on the face of humanity).

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 19:42

Apparently there are more EOs to come today. One is apparently a lobbying ban that is supposed to be very badly received, and ironically is stated to be for rooting out corruption in the government. Oh the irony!!

Caprianna · 28/01/2017 19:43

I think Brexit and Trump are linked and if there was ever a time we should not leave the EU it is now!

M0stlyHet · 28/01/2017 19:43

Oh god, it's this guy - described Brexit as a pile of shite. Yup, he's really going to win a constituency where 70% of the electorate voted leave. Nutall in parliament. It really is the start of the end of days.

amispartacus · 28/01/2017 19:45

The US Military support the people who work for them in dangerous situations - I don't think they are happy with Trump banning them from the US.

Will he go too far for some of his key supporters?

Brexit and the EU referendum feels very unimportant now.

No still important, because May is running amok and could easily introduce the same here, if she could get away with it. I don't think she's mad, but she is power crazed.

TrumpsWallFence · 28/01/2017 19:47

What a great thread. I see I get a mention on page 1. Quite right too. Grin

merrymouse · 28/01/2017 19:47

I bet the Standing Rock Sioux tribe wish there were a ban on some Scottish/German immigrants.

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 19:50

Standing Rock has a protest going in DC apparently. Busy day in the states.

HairyToity · 28/01/2017 19:54

It's horrendous. I don't see him lasting the four years. Heaven help us if he does.

SalemsCat · 28/01/2017 19:54

There are 500,000 green card holders and up to 25,000 who will be affected by the EO banning people from the 7 Countries currently in the US Sad

woman12345 · 28/01/2017 19:54

Right now, write now:
www.writetothem.com
Enter your post code and get your MPs, MEPs and local councillors.
Write to them with your thoughts, I did and linked up with lib dem, I'm Labour, to do 500 postcards from constituents to tory MP (who was a remainer) on brexit. Watch out for accidentally emailing UKIP and asking them to support remain, Blush (but we're pen pals now), if you are a remainer.
Even if you want brexit, tell them what you think should happen and any concerns about captain doollally across the sea.
They're representatives, not delegates.

Diary dates:

(more anti trump ones to be organised)

National NHS Demonstration 4th March 2017

The 3 Million: Join our mass lobby in Parliament to guarantee
the rights of residence of EU citizens living in the UK 20th Feb 2.30-6.30

Unite for Europe, an umbrella group of remain campaigners, plans to march on parliament at 11am on 25 March

woman12345 · 28/01/2017 19:55

It's important to write to MPs in next few days before Thursday vote.

SalemsCat · 28/01/2017 19:55

Sorry, 25,000 students affected

Destinysdaughter · 28/01/2017 20:03

Just saw this, sorry if it's already been mentioned. Massive UK Demo when Trump comes to visit. When it does happen, let's all try to make it as big as possible!

I folow BBC politics on Facebook and it is scary the amount of people who have liked what DT has done. So many "good on you Donalds". I truly do not understand it.

I don't see him lasting the four years

I'll get in trouble again for saying it, but I'm still hoping for an "incident of incapacitation".
And as much as I think Pence is dangerous, I don't think he would have as much nutjob backing as Trump has.

Peregrina · 28/01/2017 20:15

I do, all those who voted Leave because they hoped the Muslims would be rounded up and kicked out for a starter - which may only be a million or so people, but it's still a lot.

amispartacus · 28/01/2017 20:18

"Conservative MP Sarah Wollaston said Mr Trump should not be invited to address both MPs and peers on his state visit to the UK.

She said such an honour should be reserved for leaders who have made an outstanding, positive difference in the world, adding: "That doesn't include Mr Trump."

When you step outside a bubble, there are many people who probably agree and now feel empowered to speak out. It is very very scary.

People who are different are not dangerous. But that is the narrative being portrayed by Trump and his cheerleaders.
