Watches it today, first time in years.

He makes his wish blah blah blah then basically runs away from home and leaves his mom to think he's been kidnapped. He ends up on a milk carton so obviously police etc involvement. No doubt a national campaign for his return.

The beat friend goes along with it despite the fact he must have some idea of what's going on at home re campaign.

He gets a job with very little OD but hey its the 1980's and then clearly has sex with one of the female characters just after he's turned 13.

She thinks he's more mature than the previous guys she's been with which speaks volumes about their opinion on men.

When he finally gets the guilts, its his school and friends whom he see's and who male him feel nostalgic, not his mom.

When the Police interview him to see where he's been for months what will he actually tell them??

I think it's a harrowing film. It's based on a true story

Empress13 · 26/12/2016 16:57

I heard they had to delete a lot of the worst bits to get the PG certificate.

Maverickismywingman · 26/12/2016 17:03

Don't watch Turner and Hooch then

dementedma · 26/12/2016 17:04

Sheesh!Hmm
And every other movie is true to life!

SquiffyAtBreakfastOnEggnog · 26/12/2016 17:04

I blame Zoltan

OneWithTheForce · 26/12/2016 17:04

I find it really creepy TBH. She has sex with someone who very clearly doesn't have an adult mental age. I posted about it a year or so ago after watching for the first time as an adult and many felt the same.

Northernlurker · 26/12/2016 17:05

I feel very sorry for Susan. She finds what she thinks is a decent man and then discovers she's had sex with a child and loses the relationship. Terribly sad.

RoganJosh · 26/12/2016 17:06

I wonder if two different films are being discussed here?

Mari50 · 26/12/2016 17:06

the naze hahah

ghostyslovesheets · 26/12/2016 17:06

that's not even THE WORST bits of the story

later version include all the stuff about him being kidnapped by pirates, running across America and fighting in WW2

poor kid :(

RubyWinterstorm · 26/12/2016 17:09

I know, harrowing...

PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel · 26/12/2016 17:10

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2016 17:12

I always thought it was based on a true story. Like Back to the Future was too. And Mannequin.

NapoleonsNose · 26/12/2016 17:13

Big? True story? WTAF?
