Watches it today, first time in years.

He makes his wish blah blah blah then basically runs away from home and leaves his mom to think he's been kidnapped. He ends up on a milk carton so obviously police etc involvement. No doubt a national campaign for his return.

The beat friend goes along with it despite the fact he must have some idea of what's going on at home re campaign.

He gets a job with very little OD but hey its the 1980's and then clearly has sex with one of the female characters just after he's turned 13.

She thinks he's more mature than the previous guys she's been with which speaks volumes about their opinion on men.

When he finally gets the guilts, its his school and friends whom he see's and who male him feel nostalgic, not his mom.

When the Police interview him to see where he's been for months what will he actually tell them??

Big? True story? WTAF?

Does no one get sarcasm anymore? Confused

What was meant by:

I think it's a harrowing film. It's based on a true story

what that actually meant was: it is fiction get a grip.

PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel · 26/12/2016 17:55

Best. Thread. Ever. 😁

BeautyQueenFromMars · 26/12/2016 17:55

😂😂😂

Ipsie · 26/12/2016 17:56

You're all forgetting The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings - true historical dramas. Gotta love history.

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2016 17:58

Yes I am getting my true historical drama fix right now by watching Chronicles of Narnia.

Ipsie · 26/12/2016 17:58

Queen - yes, got you were being sarcastic but the intended misunderstanding allows us to really make clear to the OP how daft she is in over analysing a fictional film. Not a pop at you honest.

GreenBudgie · 26/12/2016 17:59

Gremlins.......true story. Happened to my hairdressers next door neighbour's baby sitter. Looking after the twins, got one wet and BOOM!

Ipsie · 26/12/2016 17:59

Ooo Sparkling - another fave historic series! Now I feel a need to watch!

PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel · 26/12/2016 18:00

Oh...oh...let me try this out... Accio Baileys!

Didn't work

But it brought DH into the room and he's now looking at me like I'm on glue.

He's gone to pour me a baileys...so technically it worked!

😁😁😁😁

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2016 18:04

DH says his favourite film based on a true story is Groundhog Day.

maybeshesawomble · 26/12/2016 18:05

Just finished watching the Jungle Book. Can anyone let me know where we can go to meet the talking animals? I went to Cambodia in my youth but never met a gigantopithecus.

Best first reply to a thread ever. Grin

limitedperiodonly · 26/12/2016 18:08

I like the fllm but like to think that they didn't really think it through.

I mean, it's every boy's dream that a 12 year old Josh has sex with a 30 year old woman. Isn't it?

Isn't that what parents would like for their child?

But it would be really bad if it was a 12 year old Jessica having sex with a 30 year old man, wouldn't it? Wouldn't it?

Maverickismywingman · 26/12/2016 18:15

I didn't think they had sex Hmm

MommaGee · 26/12/2016 18:15

Haha just got back to my thread. Of course I'm aware its not real, unlike Labyrinth l, Spaceballs and Goonies which are the kind of real life drama I normally submerge myself in.

I just think the central premise of a comedy being a parent thinking their 12 yo has been kidnapped off the streets is a not Confused

But then I'm so highly promoted in the fun police my reaction to the baby scene in Dr Who last night was to question their wisdom on baby being swaddled in a cot with a bumper whilst wearing a hat

I love Splash also with Tom Hanks but whenever they show it on terrestrial they always cut this bit. I wonder what gives them the willies?

Manumission · 26/12/2016 18:19

😂

PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel · 26/12/2016 18:20

Not sure about the clip...but that ol' Uncle Buck sure gets around! 😁

limitedperiodonly · 26/12/2016 18:22

Maverick have you ever seen a film where trains go into tunnels or waves crash on the shore..?

Maverickismywingman · 26/12/2016 18:23

Limited I have no idea what you mean

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2016 18:23

Look Who's Talking Too is on one channel now. Cracking true life tale.

afalmartin · 26/12/2016 18:24

I read the OP thinking it was UPthey we're describing having misread the title, I thought I'd entered a parallel universe (or hugely missed parts of the story!) Grin

MommaGee · 26/12/2016 18:25

Haha oh they should bring that back limited. Imagine 50 Shades redone
