To find being a working mother exhausting

Back at work from mat leave. Working 30 hours over 4 days and just finding it bloody exhausting! Son is knackered when we get home and he cries until asleep. Then wakes up during the night keeping us all awake. With work, housework and childcare I'm finding the whole thing knackering (even with DH who pulls his weight). Feel guilty for putting son at childminders, , guilty for being a half assed wife / dog mama/ daughter / friend / sister/ employee . I absolutely adore my son and so glad we have him. But wow, this is hard. I can't be the only one???? Do most mums feel like this? How the hell do single mothers manage? Any tips for how you manage would be appreciated!!!

I work full time, term time only and have a 3yo DD. DH is also full time (but all year round) and is rarely home before 7pm. During term time I feel completely exhausted. I like my job but it's emotionally draining and takes up a lot of mental energy. Once DD has gone to bed and I've done a few chores (the bare minimum) I just want to collapse, I don't have the energy for hobbies or exercise.
During the holidays things are definitely less relentless but I don't properly relax. I feel pressured to constantly be out and about with DD doing fun, educational, enriching activities because I feel guilty for being away from her 40hours a week during the school term. I know I'm lucky to have the school holidays off (and that I will be especially grateful for it when DD starts school) but I do sometimes selfishly wish I could have a day to myself when DD is at pre-school during term time.
I would love to get a cleaner to take the pressure off a bit but have had problems finding a decent one- have had three now, one stole from us, one kept not turning up and the third always left the job half finished so I ended up having to clean up anyway. This thread has persuaded me I should keep looking!
