Just thinking about it: can you imagine being the butler/maitre d/housekeeper/chamber maid etc at the White House and facing your employers changing from the Obamas to Don and Mel? I really do think they will have trouble hanging on to the domestic staff over the next few months Grin

OP posts:

Feels like a ban on humour. And it won't even work. Soon enough there will be irrelevant jibes on MN at a public figures by mentioning Ebola or plague, la grippe or summat (just as nasty or worse than any cancer).

GinAndTunic · 12/11/2016 14:23

Thirded - really quite nasty

Agreed. On the other hand, it shows the OP's character.

Oh, and BishopBrenna'sArse, let's see your sense of humour when people start making fun of disability. What? No sense of humour, then?

mothertruck3r · 12/11/2016 14:26

Possibly. I imagine a chamber maid would be more worried about Bill Clinton trying to rape her and being protected by Hitlery.

JenLindleyShitMom · 12/11/2016 14:36

Referring to someone as a form of cancer because you're too pig ignorant to learn how to spell their name Hmm

GinAndTunic · 12/11/2016 14:40

I've reported it, too.

GinAndTunic · 12/11/2016 14:41

I imagine a chamber maid would be more worried about Bill Clinton trying to rape her and being protected by Hitlery.

Especially if the chambermaid had access to kneepads and cigars.

My guess as to why it hasn't been deleted - despite numerous reports - is that attacks on Trump are fair game. The guest post of a few days ago was certainly representative of that attitude.

GinAndTunic · 12/11/2016 14:59

Melania Turmp is an ex-model, that is a completely different skill set and it is unfair to compare them.

I have never read one that said Melania was arrogant, rude, or ill mannered

Good points.

areyoubeingserviced · 12/11/2016 15:10

I for one will miss the Obamas.
They are just pure class

jdoe8 · 12/11/2016 15:20

I'm very disappointed that this hasn't been deleted. It's disgusting regardless of what you think of the trumps.

I got an email from MNHQ saying that while some MNetters have found the thread to be in poor taste, they are going to let the thread stand because it doesn't break their talk guidelines.

jdoe8 · 12/11/2016 15:26

Can't say I'm surprised. If it was aimed at someone else I't would get deleted. Double standards.

weavingawickerbasket · 12/11/2016 15:29

Wow lljkk I couldn't quite decide if you were being sarcastic but I think not. You are rather cocky, yes?

VintagePerfumista · 12/11/2016 15:30

Oh well, at least the twat spreadsheet can be updated. Hmm

I agree, Obamas, pure class.

Unlike many on this thread.

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2016 15:30

You're privileged to have received an email seneca. Smile

I don't like the new reports system-you never know whether yours has been received or not. I'm surprised there hasn't been an official comment on the thread-given the number of reports they must have had about it if I'd have thought one was warranted.

Baylisiana · 12/11/2016 15:47

I hate the title and I think it is good if at their discretion MN can remove threads if they think it will be upsetting, I would have removed this one for that reason. The OP did say she had a black humour take on her own experience but I think she would understand that others feel differently and probably wishes she had never posted.

In general though, while on a site like this discretion could be used to prevent people being unduly traumatised, it is important to remember that we don't have a right to demand other people do not offend us! Being offended is part of life, protest and make your point, but don't expect always to have the offending comment erased.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 12/11/2016 15:51

My first Biscuit for such a tasteless title.

VintagePerfumista · 12/11/2016 15:55

Whether or not it breaks guidelines it is misogynist at best and plain sick at worst.

But hey, I'm sure all the cancer sufferers using MN are splitting their sides.

I note the OP only said she'd had melanoma herself when she'd been pulled up about her title. Funny that.

HairyToity · 12/11/2016 15:56

Title didn't offend me. I think domestic staff will least of their concern over next four years.

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2016 16:17

I'm pleased that the title's been changed but about 95% of the thread is no longer relevant. Confused

PikachuSayBoo · 12/11/2016 16:25

THeres a big difference between obamas political staff and the white house staff . The political ones work for the Democrat party and will go. The actual white house staff such as butlers , chefs, maids stay through all presidents. Apparently laura bush was a total bitch so I'm sure they're used to twunt bosses.

MitzyLefrouf · 12/11/2016 16:27

The domestic staff must have some tales to tell.

Not that they could tell them of course!

weavingawickerbasket · 12/11/2016 16:36

Grin at title change
