I am talking pubic hair. What does everyone do with it? I hate mine (especially as I get older it's getting wilder!) but what I hate more is bumpy itchy red skin whenever I try to tackle it. However I seem to be under the impression that most women are smooth and basically hairless down there and I must seem like some sort of cave woman or 70s porn star in comparison.

My husband hasn't mentioned that he minds at all...but maybe he does?

And if everyone is hairless and neat down there please please tell me how to do it without hideous rashes!!!

I get waxed every three weeks, have a thin landing strip at top. I find if you exfoliate and moisturise (doesn't have to be a faff, just in bath/shower with a sponge or flannel) you can avoid ingrowing hairs.

MotherDuckSaid · 12/10/2016 17:28

I use my husbands beard trimmer ! :-D it's like shearing a sheep, it means no stubble but keeps things neat (for doctors appointments / wearing swimming costumes and the like)!

dalmatianmad · 12/10/2016 17:31

Bald as a badgers arse in this house because to me it feels unclean to be hairy!
Each to their own, I just get a disposable razor out once a week and it's done within a few seconds, i don't have problems with ingrowing hairs.....

Ilovetorrentialrain · 12/10/2016 17:33

I get it waxed off once every 5 weeks. I hate the regrowth though.

minipie · 12/10/2016 17:36

I trim with scissors and pluck any that are beyond bikini line (not many, I'm not very hairy).

HappyAxolotl · 12/10/2016 17:39

I trim mine short with a hair clipper and use a shaver to remove any hair that sticks out of knickers. It is very thick like my head hair and tends to tangle if left to grow. Shock

I've never watched porn and frankly don't have a clue what other women do with their fannies.

Purplebluebird · 12/10/2016 17:41

I use hair removal cream! (sensitive one) and then the errr more sensitive bits I use an electric trimmer (it's on the other end of a razor blade shaver) to neat it up a bit. I don't get any spots or ingrown hair or anything like that, and have done this for 12+ years now. Mind my sexlife has died now, so I'm not as hot on it as I used to be. However I mainly do it for myself, as I feel more fresh without hair! I know my other half's ex did not remove hair (Why do I know this?!), so I know he's not bothered either way. I prefer as little hair as possible, same with legs and under arms :P

2kids2dogsnosense · 12/10/2016 17:47

Nothing. I am au naturelle down there. (Age 63, and a very hairy lady - always have been.)

I wouldn't worry about what doctors see/deal with - they will see hairy fannies, waxed fannies and all in between and won't give a monkey's about it.

wineusuallyhelps · 12/10/2016 17:49

Husband's beard trimmer and leave some at the, ahem, front as I don't personally like nothing at all. I used to have it waxed all the way 'down there' till I got a skin infection and nasty spots from it Confused

I've hot salon waxed for so many years, it has stopped regrowing.

phillipp · 12/10/2016 17:55

It's totally up to what you find comfortable. Personally I shave mine short, not bald though.

gribak · 12/10/2016 17:55

On this note, scarily it seems amongst the 16+ year olds that having pubic hair is kind of "dirty" - they expect it all to be shaved off. Don't know if this is porn creating this kind of expectation, but I am filled with horror that my pre-teen daughter will feel she should be doing this to keep boys happy when she is late teens/early twenties!

user1474907171 · 12/10/2016 18:02

Trimmed neatly, stragglers are pulled out. Tried removing it all for a while but looked like a plucked chicken and the itching was enough to put a stop to that.

YouHadMeAtCake · 12/10/2016 18:03

ALL off, hot wax in a salon. Just feels so much cleaner and nicer.

ChickenVindaloo · 12/10/2016 18:05

I shave the whole lot off ie from bellybutton right down to my knees - my bikini line covers several square metres these days. Then use my boots smoothskin everywhere to keep me peachy soft! I do sometimes leave a landing strip as men do prefer a little something but even then I keep that trimmed with nail scissors.

I also apply hair removal cream to my, ahem, perineal/anal area which is difficult to reach with smoothskin/razors/scissors. Very long hairs wipe off down there and it's nicer for certain sexual positions. (IMHO)

Chinlo · 12/10/2016 18:05

Laser. No itching, no bumps, no nothing.

ChickenVindaloo · 12/10/2016 18:05

I used to pluck mine a bit like a small bonsi tree. Not sore at all. Very satisfying!

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 12/10/2016 18:06

Veet on anything that might possibly be seen in public. So when I'm not on holiday / taking DS swimming, it's pretty chill down there.

SlinkyVagabond · 12/10/2016 18:09

Is it that time of year again? Nowt. Dh has no say as its my body and I choose to have it free flowing. Mother Nature though has decided otherwise and since menopause it's as bald as a baby's bum.

yorkshapudding · 12/10/2016 18:10

I shave (sides and undercarriage) but leave a landing strip or triangle as I don't like the pre-pubescent look. I don't get ingrown hairs or any irritation as long as I use a decent quality razor.

DH couldn't care less, I do it because that's just how I prefer it.

Rozdeek · 12/10/2016 18:12

Nothing, cba and I think a hairless fanny looks bizarre tbh

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 12/10/2016 18:14

Does the rash happen a couple of days after you've shaved? If so, it's the hair growing randomly instead of through the tiny holes in the skin where they're meant to go (very scientific!) and you can buy stuff that smells like nail polish remover in the chemist that sorts it out :)

MyBreadIsEggy · 12/10/2016 18:15

Had my first full Hollywood wax in a salon about 5 years ago, but now my friend (beauty therapist) comes to my house every 5-6 weeks and does it for me

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 12/10/2016 18:15

I read a gyne doctor recently who claimed that pubic hair and 'proper pants' are necessary to protect the labia and provide 'proper support for the under carriage'. This legitimises my laziness and taste in knickers wonderfully.
