I am talking pubic hair. What does everyone do with it? I hate mine (especially as I get older it's getting wilder!) but what I hate more is bumpy itchy red skin whenever I try to tackle it. However I seem to be under the impression that most women are smooth and basically hairless down there and I must seem like some sort of cave woman or 70s porn star in comparison.

My husband hasn't mentioned that he minds at all...but maybe he does?

And if everyone is hairless and neat down there please please tell me how to do it without hideous rashes!!!

While we are on this topic can I ask this also.

Im on my 1st period since ds2 was born 7.6 years ago...

I cannot for the life of me work out when a cycle is, is it every 28 days.. ?Ive bleed twice in the past 3 weeks.. so have no idea how to work it all out.

sorry for the gate crash OP, however to answer your OP... veet it all away, Grin

FurryLittleTwerp · 12/10/2016 18:16

I trim the length every 3-2 weeks with my penknife scissors & the area twice a week with a razor. Very hairy down onto my thighs if I leave it.

I have shaved it all off but hated how it looked & felt - DH prefers it fully shaven & shaves his too, which I think looks awful like a turkey neck. He likes porn.

ittooshallpass · 12/10/2016 18:18

I have really sensitive skin and double hair growth so waxing was excruciating and lasted 24 hours! Ingrown hairs were hideous. To cap it all off the growth was as wide as my hips and down my inner thighs. It was a nightmare. So... I got it lasered off into a lovely tidy triangle. Best thing I ever did. I just trim with nail scissors now (if I can be bothered!).

FurryLittleTwerp · 12/10/2016 18:18

MsJamie normal cycles vary between 21 & 42 days. 28 is the most usual length.

Pisssssedofff · 12/10/2016 18:20

Waxing every three months without fail, I hate it

velourvoyageur · 12/10/2016 18:21

I shave it all off.

I don't feel anything like a little girl, because I am an adult woman.

pocketsaviour · 12/10/2016 18:21

I shave and just keep a landing strip. It feels so amazingly better without hair. Oral sex is like a revelation. When you think about it, previous partners were basically trying to give me oral through a carpet (I'm very hairy.) No wonder I didn't get anything out of it, I couldn't fucking feel it!

Also: no chunks of period blood getting stuck to hairs at that time of the month. Helluva lot less sweaty in the summer. Just feels a lot more hygienic, and fresher. Same as armpits really!

I used to get a rash and ingrown hairs, but I've moved over to using men's products and get on much better now. Wilkinson sword razor (male branded), Nivea sensitive shaving gel, and Dove Men Post Shave Balm. I think it's the last one that's made the most difference.

Ohb0llocks · 12/10/2016 18:25

Lob it all off! For me it just feels cleaner/fresher. DP couldn't give a shit he's just happy to see it regardless of whether or not it's got a fur coat on Grin

bigbuttons · 12/10/2016 18:25

hairless is horrible, looks pre-pubescent.

Janey50 · 12/10/2016 18:27

Until I read this thread,I was coming to the conclusion that the vast majority of women removed all,or nearly all (via a 'Brazilian') of their pubic hair. I was starting to feel a bit freakish for not doing the same. Now I am reassured that it's not just me. In the past I have tried shaving (awkward because I have a fat tum and can't see what I'm doing properly plus arthritic shoulders and fingers making me not very dextrous) plus I couldn't stand the itching when it started to grow back. Waxing I was put off because off the 'plucked chicken' effect that a lot of women seem to be left with. I trim with scissors every few weeks to tidy it up,but that's it. My DP thankfully isn't bothered. Says he loves it either way! WinkSmile

The obligatory 'looks like a child' posts from the hairier flapped turned up then?
Standard.

ghostyslovesheep · 12/10/2016 18:29

shave the edges and trim with scissors

I rock a bit of a 70's look!

Fibbertigibbet · 12/10/2016 18:30

I give it a trim occasionally when I'm feeling fancy.

Dawndonnaagain · 12/10/2016 18:33

I do wish people wouldn't say this, I have alopecia, it's not a kind thing to say.

Underbeneathsies · 12/10/2016 18:33

I use a Venus razor on the sides and on the underbeneathsies. Also the longish hairs that sprout on my inside thighs - whoever thought they'd be a good idea? I shave in a down direction, not upwards, as that gives me itch.

I prefer a bit of frontal coverage- I don't want to look like a baby.

I usually trim everything very short when on holidays as I sunbathe in my birthday suit. No problems with any regrowth.

I shave my toes though, so maybe I'm a hobbit, and have different sensibilities!

Rozdeek · 12/10/2016 18:33

bastard

I'm not very hairy but I do think hairless looks odd, yes.

Pisssssedofff · 12/10/2016 18:34

After 4 kids my Fanjo doesn't look pubescent, unfortunately it's very clearly owned by a 41 year old

FlabulousChic · 12/10/2016 18:35

I used to but since being single for over two years I leave it.

CancellyMcChequeface · 12/10/2016 18:36

Nothing.

I'm under 30, and a hairy feminist. Grin

Judydreamsofhorses · 12/10/2016 18:39

I trim every few weeks with nail scissors, tidy up the sides/underneath with a razor in the bath once a week or so. I don't swim so only my DP sees it - he doesn't care either way. I'd probably be more picky with it if I was stripping down to a bikini in public. I am very hairy, plus dark.

We lasted quite a while this time, tbf! A valiant effort, mumsnet!

0pti0na1 · 12/10/2016 18:45

Au naturel, except for around the edges if going swimming.

RosaRosaRose · 12/10/2016 18:46

My ex husband took control of all this and instructed according to his preference that season. Harbloodyhar. Now, living blissfully alone, I choose to trim the undercarriage (using haircutting scissors... wearing varifocals, so is always a challenge) just to keep hygiene to the fore. Grin

Czerny88 · 12/10/2016 18:50

A cursory trim when I can be bothered. I'm not particularly hirsute and it's not like anyone ever sees it. Hmm

PickAChew · 12/10/2016 18:50

As it comes, though it went through a phase when it needed a bit of a combover
