Here we go again. Had a few issues with neighbours (2 previous posts) starting during my twin pregnancy when I parked legally outside their house, then when their son dumped an untaxed vehicle outside our house.. Bla bla

Just went to take babies to a hospital appointment and they've parked OVER my driveway. Not answering their door even though they are all home. Fuck off.

My car is the white one, and the space to the right is also my driveway.
Their cars are the grey one which is parked on the road space (hanging way over the dropped kerb) and the 4x4.

I'm already parked as far over as I can (DH car normally parked on other space) without ruining my grass.

I guess for today I could reverse onto my grass and then drive across the driveways but it's the principle

Get in your car and beep continously. Then smash their window and take the handbrake off and push it out the way, ideally off the edge of a cliff. Take a poo on the drivers seat too?

Does this mean you can't get to the appointment? If they are parked over a dropped curb and blocking you in I believe you can call the police and get them towed?

Is it illegal to block someone in on their drive? If so, call 101 to report it and get it towed.

Go around there and tell them in no uncertain terms that they've no right to park over your driveway like that. You have the right to phone the police about it if you want to, though what your neighbour is doing isn't technically illegal, so they can't do much more than ask them to move.

It's a courtesy thing, though, so from now on I'd park your car where the blue one is and block across your own driveway. It's a pain in that your car isn't on the empty drive, but it'll be in their way and make sure they can't pull this again. Cheeky shites.

God I would be apoplectic. I agree either sit in your car with the horn blaring or go and ring their bell without taking your finger off until they answer. Then ask them why they are being so inconsiderate and to MOVE THEIR FUCKING CAR!

TheRedCar It's in the Highway code that you shouldn't park across a driveway, but it's not illegal so the police are limited in terms of what they can do.

They are home but not answering the door??? Total fuckers. for you. How long have you got till you are late for your appointment?

To get to my appt, I would drive over the grass as you suggested (not that you should have to, of course, but then at least you have got your appointment out of the way and you can concentrate on other things).

Can you report as an abandoned car as its on your private property?

The car blocking us in is unusual. But they always park on the road space (fine it's an unrestricted public highway and their vehicles are road legal) but they always park over the dropped kerb (see photo of another one of their cars - red star marks start of dropped kerb). If we park in that space (legally) they shout at us, leave angry notes and complain to our land lord

You can't damage their car, but you could fight fire with fire and use your own cars to block theirs in. So long as you're not obstruction the road it's not illegal.

Also, send these photos to your Landlord to prove that they're the ones being dicks.

If I were you, I'd drive over your grass/drive to get out. If they're still there when you get home, park directly in front of both of them so that it's as difficult as possible for them to move their cars.

I'd also be tempted to buy and tax an old banger to park wherever they hate you parking, and leave it there for good.

That's outrageous. I'd be tempted to let all their tyres down and stuff some sardines down the air vents under the windscreen.

so what exactly do those angry notes and complaints say? I'm sure you've told them they don't own the public road.

Get DH to have a serious word and set some boundaries.

Someone did that to me by mistake (they said ) and we called the police as we were stuck with a new baby and DH needed to get to the chemist for her. Depends on your area course, but here the police came immediately, check registration to find where the owner might be then knocked on every door in the road and waited till the owner turned up. Then gave them an on the spot fine.

This is one of the few times you can get police involved, so I'd say take advantage of it - is there any chance you could miss that appointment and do this today, so as to draw a line with these people? They've clearly got a grudge, let them air it with the police.

Bit of background:
The first note was just after we moved in, I was about 8 months pregnant with my twins and couldn't get in and out of the car on my drive (can't tell from photos very well but it's steep) so we parked one car on the road space between our houses. The space isn't big enough for a whole car so you have to overhand the dropped kerb and block part of ours or part of their drive - we always block our own, they always block us.)

First note said 'do not park in OUR space when you have use of a driveway'

Didn't know who it was from (never met neighbours), ignored it and got a bang on the door an hour later and shouted at.
They then emailed my letting agent and landlord saying we had parked in their allocated space, the LL put them straight and said its an unrestricted public highway.

Stopped parking there when babies arrived and I was mobile again.
Parked there again as a one off to allow access to the carpet cleaner and all hell broke loose. Again we pointed out we were legally allowed to park there.

They have about 6 vehicles between them (mum and dad late 50s and teenage son) and their drive only holds 4 cars.

As you need to get babies to hospital, might be worth ringing the police to see if they will send someone round to have a word - not much use to you at the moment though.

The trouble is, that while us normal people just want a quiet trouble-free life, wankers like this have limitless amounts of energy just to maintain their status as arseholes.
