Here we go again. Had a few issues with neighbours (2 previous posts) starting during my twin pregnancy when I parked legally outside their house, then when their son dumped an untaxed vehicle outside our house.. Bla bla

Just went to take babies to a hospital appointment and they've parked OVER my driveway. Not answering their door even though they are all home. Fuck off.

WIBU to pour paint stripper over it Grin
(Joking!)

My car is the white one, and the space to the right is also my driveway.
Their cars are the grey one which is parked on the road space (hanging way over the dropped kerb) and the 4x4.

I'm already parked as far over as I can (DH car normally parked on other space) without ruining my grass.

Fuckers.

What a pain OP. Bad neighbours are such a fly in the ointment. Sympathies.

BackwardElephants · 23/09/2016 10:54

Idiots.

WindInThePussyWillows · 23/09/2016 10:54

We do have a third car which is parked in our garage which we don't use. (From before DH got a company car).
It's insured and taxes but the MOT runs out this weekend and we can't afford to do it at the moment.
I suppose we could park it in the road space but what's the legal position of a non MOTd car?
I know cars on the public highway have to be taxed and insured and you can drive a non MoTd car only to an MoT appointment. What about if it's parked and not driven?

Could I drive it whilst still under current MoT to the road space and then not move it again whilst it has no MOT until I have booked an appointment, and only move it to take it to that appointment?

Call non emergency police - they will try and get hold of them

ArmySal · 23/09/2016 10:57

Shock I'd be declaring war!

Yes, you definitely can!

Sallycinnamum · 23/09/2016 11:02

What absolute fuckers. I'm raging on your behalf.

InTheseFlipFlops · 23/09/2016 11:04

Wankers!!! Don't start driving over your grass, once will be ok. But now its getting damper it will ruin in, and if you rent (saw something about a landlord) you will have to pay to fix it, even though these wankers have caused it!!!!!

SugarMiceInTheRain · 23/09/2016 11:08

Tie an uninflated balloon onto their exhaust pipe. Won't do any damage, but will give them a fright when they start the car and hear a bang! Grin

Andrewofgg · 23/09/2016 11:09

Potato up the exhaust pipe!

BakeOffBiscuits · 23/09/2016 11:09

How awful!!

Make sure you keep the photos I case you do damage your lawn and you can prove to the LL that it wasn't your fault!

I'm pretty sure that as long as your road tax is up to date you can leave it on the road without an MOT. But then how are you later legally going to drive it to a garage to get MOT'ed?

WindInThePussyWillows · 23/09/2016 11:11

2Kids you can legally drive a car with no MOT to a prearranged MOT appointment

OP posts:
Queenbean · 23/09/2016 11:11

You're allowed to drive without an MOT if you're on your way to an MOT appointment

wasonthelist · 23/09/2016 11:13

Dunno about the legality of leaving a car with no MOT parked in public, but you can certainly drive it to be tested, provided you have booked once it has expired.

hownottofuckup · 23/09/2016 11:14

You should have called the police! Blocked from accessing the public highway (illegal) and with babies to take to the hospital (heartstrings) ticks all the boxes!

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 23/09/2016 11:17

Call he police as you're blocked in and need to get babies to hospital.

As much as it would be funny to do potato in the exhaust you're not meant to touch another car I believe (but could be wrong)

Oldraver · 23/09/2016 11:20

If the car is booked in for an MOT you can drive it to the testing garage...not sure if you could leave it out on the road without MOT

MiniLop · 23/09/2016 11:23

A car has to have valid insurance and tax to be able to leave it on a public road. If the MOT has run out, the insurance will be invalid so technically you wouldn't be able to leave it on the road.

GabsAlot · 23/09/2016 11:27

mot does not affect insurance thats a myth

i would phone police now op not fter u have got out

they cant block u in the driveway but if its empty they cant do a thing for you

QuestionableMouse · 23/09/2016 11:28

The car is currently legal and will be until the mot actually runs out. As long as it's taxed, no one will care if it's parked on the road with or without a mot.

dowhatnow · 23/09/2016 11:31

Except the neighbours who will do everything in their power to get them into trouble so the op does need to check if the insurance is valid with no mot.

Olympiathequeen · 23/09/2016 11:35

No advice as such but I feel for you. Our thank god ex neighbour would go berserk if we or our family parked outside his house. He was convinced the road belonged to him because he had paid for it before it was 'adopted' by the LA when it became a public road.

The irony is he only had one car and parked it in the road despite having a 2 car driveway and space in front of his (corner) house which would park 3 cars!

We are sure he kicked one of our cars one night! And he would retaliate by damaging our plants in the back garden......until we caught him on a hidden camera and the police gave him a warning!

WaitrosePigeon · 23/09/2016 11:42

What utter bastards.

Tiredmumno1 · 23/09/2016 11:47

I think you should get the car MOT'd when it runs out and use it as a barrier over your drive. Although you'll have to move it and put it back every time you go out, but hey at least they won't be able to block you again.

Inconsiderate arseholes.
