I did an online shop but had no time to complete so booked my slot, put £40 worth of knobbly bobbly ice creams in the basket and checkout!

Went to complete my shopping and it wont let me change the order as I checked out at 2 mins past midnight!

So now I have 160 ice creams being delivered between 9am and 10am.

I thinking ill just accept the order and we can live on ice cream for a week.

AIBU?

I now have to go actually shopping with 2dc, fuck

Can't wait to see what turns up op! loving the tales of these random deliveries!

CafeCremeMerci · 18/08/2016 09:27

Ice cream you say..,.

cdtaylornats · 18/08/2016 09:29

I reserve my slot on Tesco with a kit-kat - you only need to take it to £40 before delivery.

beela · 18/08/2016 09:31

I really want a nobbly bobble now as well.

Lilacpink40 · 18/08/2016 09:34

Check if youre not in if they take it back and reimburse you. Then go out shopping!

BoaConstrictor · 18/08/2016 09:35

We got a voucher for £10 off a £40 ocado order. I ignored it but DH mentioned he needed to buy a present for a couple of people at work & the only thing he could think of was champagne. Some decent champagne was reduced so we ordered two bottles of that plus a tub of Haagan Daaz as it was half price & took us over the minimum spend. The delivery had to be the next day for the voucher to apply & DH and I were both working & then out in the evening so the only slot we knew we'd be home for was the 10-11pm one.
I always wonder if the driver was curious as to why we were so desperate for champagne & Haagan Daaz & what we were going to do with it. Although it is more likely that she was just relieved to be done for the day & get to go home.

TheEmmaDilemma · 18/08/2016 09:37

This is awesome work. Keep them all.

Normandy144 · 18/08/2016 09:40

I do this all the time; book the slot usually a week in advance and hold it with wine. Then do the actual meal plan and list the night before.

Do you have a local Facebook page? Depending on how charitable you are you could post saying free ice cream for any of the neighbourhood children who can stop by between 2-4pm or something?

Squabblesallaround · 18/08/2016 09:41

This is hilarious! Grin I've done the same but with 10 blocks of cheese! Luckily you can just send it back with them

HawkingsMead · 18/08/2016 09:41

I order the Dom Perignon to reserve my slot just because it makes me happy to see it in my favourites.

I had a work colleague who ate a tin of soup every day for lunch - the same kind, it never changed. So he used to order 10-15 tins in one order but they would inevitably substitute which made him very cross.

cexuwaleozbu · 18/08/2016 09:42

Probably too late for this time, but if I were you I would just be out for the delivery slot. All that happens is that they take it back to the store and refund your money. Then arrange a proper shop with a different store.

FruitBadger · 18/08/2016 09:45

I usually save the slot hat way too. I have had to call Tesco on the morning of the delivery more than once to ask them not to bother coming out with 3 bottles of Bacardi Blush

CassetteTape · 18/08/2016 09:45

I won a years supply of Marmite once and they used a supermarket delivery to get it to me, cue one very amused guy holding an entire crate of every size jar they had in store.

PortiaFinis · 18/08/2016 09:49

I always bung a couple of bottles of Moët in as it takes me over the limit. Once I forgot to cancel it, the driver was disappointed that I sent it back as he thought it was quite a stylish shop.

MyKingdomForBrie · 18/08/2016 09:51

If you send them back won't they be wasted though? I can't imagine Ocado putting them back in the freezer after the potential of some partial defrost in their circular route to yours and back. That seems a bit wrong of you to me, you did order them after all.

talksensetome · 18/08/2016 09:51

I also want to know what they substitute them for. I think you might end up with quite an array.

redpriestandmozart · 18/08/2016 09:52

I once did the same.. had one bunch of 5 bananas delivered, nothing else :)

SnugglySnerd · 18/08/2016 09:55

Cassettetape, I love Marmite but only go through about 2-3 jars a year, what you had sounds like a lifetime supply!
This reminds me of the day we all got free bananas at work because someone ordered 7 bunches instead of 7 bananas.

trevortrevorslatterfry · 18/08/2016 09:59

Mm nobbly bobbly truly is the king of ice lollies

limitedperiodonly · 18/08/2016 10:02

Unexpected ice cream is never a mistake.

One of my happiest memories was on the way to school when a lorry took a bend too fast and the road was showered with ice creams. We picked up as many as we could and handed them out in the playground before they melted. I've never been so popular.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 18/08/2016 10:03

So, did they come? What happened?

SlimCheesy2 · 18/08/2016 10:04

I so wish I did online ordering!

[DAMN you ALDI for being on my street. Shakes fist at sky]

WalkingInTheAir13 · 18/08/2016 10:05

I always hold my slot with that old MN favourite 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Ivechangedmyname1 · 18/08/2016 10:05

The delivery bloke came and asked if I was having an ice cream party!

I made sure they could resell the ice creams and he said absolutely as its been constantly refrigerated so I took one pack and he refunded the rest.

Dd thought Christmas had come early seeing the crates of ice cream so she has one right now Grin

Fair play to tesco no substitutions!

Now I'm off to actually go shopping, it's my karma for fucking tesco around.
