I did an online shop but had no time to complete so booked my slot, put £40 worth of knobbly bobbly ice creams in the basket and checkout!

Went to complete my shopping and it wont let me change the order as I checked out at 2 mins past midnight!

So now I have 160 ice creams being delivered between 9am and 10am.

I thinking ill just accept the order and we can live on ice cream for a week.

AIBU?

I now have to go actually shopping with 2dc, fuck

Literally LOL GrinGrinGrin

mouldycheesefan · 18/08/2016 08:15

I just put a pint of milk to reserve my slot, you know you don't have to spend £40 to reserve the slot?

Starlingsintheslipstream · 18/08/2016 08:18

This is funny and why I always save the basket with champagne or gin.

I've only cocked up with 6 bags of oranges instead of 6 oranges. Now dh loves an orange but even he had too many.

I would just suck it up too. You can refuse deliveries but do you think they'd be allowed to sell the Nobbly Bobblies again (having been out of the proper freezer, to your house and back again - health and safety and all that). If so it would be a real waste and I'd feel bad!

For the non believers :)

You can send some my way. I did buy 10boxes once I was pregnant and really wanted them I got upset when they had finished.

I remember ordering a pack of cherry tomatoes and was shocked when I got just 1 in a bag never did work out how that happened.

DubiousCredentials · 18/08/2016 08:34

I once reserved my slot with Asda by adding four big boxes of Pampers to my basket. Checked out and planned to amend order the night before delivery. Only I forgot and placed an order with Tesco instead.

As luck would have it Hmm both deliveries turned up at exactly the same time so I was taking in groceries from the Tesco driver when the Asda guy rocked up with circa 400 nappies Blush. I styled it out by intimating that I had meant to do it Blush and how convenient it was that they had arrived together Blush but I don't think they believed me.

In my defence I had two dc under two and wasn't getting much sleep 😫

EllieHandMeDownBaby · 18/08/2016 08:44

This is a brilliant thread! Can't wait to find out what happens when the delivery shows up.
Totally not placemarking...

ItsASunnyDay · 18/08/2016 08:47

I'm only placemarking to see what they substitute them with...

LaurieFairyCake · 18/08/2016 08:51

I did this with a Christmas delivery - filled my trolley with wine, port, fancy Christmas cake, loads of nuts and nibbly bits

Then couldn't amend it but got another slot 4 hours later with all the normal food

Children still talk about the day of the two ocado deliveries Grin - one with stuff for me, one with stuff for them

ShatnersBassoon · 18/08/2016 08:54

Grin You might need to clear out a bit of freezer space Grin

Diglet · 18/08/2016 08:56

I reserve my order with three bottles of gin. That's very Mumsnetty of me but I much prefer the idea of 40 knobbly Bobblys. 😂

Hee hee!

newtothenet · 18/08/2016 08:57

I do this with stamps (high cost, low quantity items). I think I should choose something more fun in future!

RadiatorBlues · 18/08/2016 08:58

These have made me laugh out loud. Grin

one lone mushroom in the bag

3luckystars · 18/08/2016 08:59

My friend did something similar, ordered a packet of nappies to save the delivery slot. She intended to go back and add all her groceries to the order but forgot until a big truck arrived with her tiny delivery the next day.

EreniTheFrog · 18/08/2016 09:01

Seriously... you can send it back. The delivery driver will probably snigger and everyone in the warehouse will have a good laugh over their pints, but better surely than being stuck with all that ice cream.

A vegetarian friend once used a massive joint of beef to hold her order, and then forgot Grin

ALemonyPea · 18/08/2016 09:02

This has cheered me up. Ds3 would be your best friend, he loves them.

Can't wait to see if you get them all, or if they substitute for something silly.

MadameJosephine · 18/08/2016 09:05

I also usually use expensive booze to reserve my delivery slot. Thankfully I've never forgotten to change it, it's frowned upon to feed a 3 year old champagne I believe Smile

Can't wait to see what arrives

0hCrepe · 18/08/2016 09:08

Yep I did the lone mushroom and lone banana too thing 2 weeks running. Was very proud once I'd remembered to change the amount!

EtTuTuttiFrutti · 18/08/2016 09:10

I use the champagne method. Happened to be on the laptop when DD told me that the ice cream wafers were soggy, so added those at the same time.
The driver was very bemused as he handed over my two items.
I accepted the order, because we so obviously needed the wafers Grin

MrsGsnow18 · 18/08/2016 09:12

Haha! I seriously want a nobbly bobbly now. Last time I was in Asda they didn't have any! So maybe you'll be entirely substituted?

I miss my online Asda orders. I used to get the best substitutions ever. Once I ordered a small packed of sliced ham from the deli and was sent a HUGE gammon. ( which was at least 4x the price but no extra charge for me)
Instead of making A few sandwiches I ended up having to have extra family round for Sunday dinner.

Afreshstartplease · 18/08/2016 09:13

I use booze too

Hope you have a big freezer op Grin

MarcelineTheVampire · 18/08/2016 09:21

What is a knobbly bobbly and why haven't I ever heard of this?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 18/08/2016 09:23

I love Nobbly Bobblies. I'm so jealous. When I mis-order, I end up with 6 bags of carrots not lovely ice lollies. Grin

cdtaylornats · 18/08/2016 09:24

Sometimes they do get odd orders though. One Tesco driver told me he had 200 tins of beans in the van for one of those sit in a bath of beans challenges.
