to think that 16 weeks is not 4 months!

Friend writes on FB "I can't believe DS is 4 months already". He's not, he's 16 weeks. He'll be 4 months on the 25th. If you carry on like that, they'd be having their first birthday a month early!

It's near enough 4 months.

I hate it when people use weeks when their baby is months old. I've even seen someone seriously say their baby is 58 weeks old Confused

Like Elsa I hate when people use weeks when then should be using months or months when they should be using years. Like 23 months Hmm ...2! Your child is 2!!! Angry Absolutely infuriates me!

I think it's quite refreshing to see someone post '4 months' instead of every week/month/nano second.

Unless she's talking to a HV, Midwife or GP, it really doesn't matter.

Oh for Goodness sake, my twins are 20 in two weeks, anyone asks, I say 20, not 19 + 50.
It doesn't matter.

Ah even if you hadn't mistyped farfromtheusual 23 months it's "They are nearly 2, 2 or almost 2" not 23 months. Months are annoying after 1, after their first birthday it's just not acceptable to use them at all, after they are 12 weeks you move to months and give up on weeks too, anything else is just annoying so op yabu

I prefer to see it written in months, not weeks and days. if someone told Me their child was 16 weeks, I'd be thinking it was 4 months and I agree, unless talking to a hcp all it does Is make me do maths Grin when it's still a tiny baby Im more understanding, but past the age of 18 months I don't think there's a need for months anymore - just say just gone 18 months/nearly two, it's a minor annoyance of mine hearing 23 monrgs - so basically two, then. I think under the age of 1, months instead of weeks and then past 1 I'd prefer it just go into years - nearly 2/just turned 1 for eg.

Dawndonnaagain I think years are a bit different and wouldn't you just say "they're almost 20/20 in 2 weeks".

My friend has obviously counted in weeks as it's exactly 16 weeks since he was born and has then converted it (incorrectly) to months.

So he'll be 6 months old in 8 weeks then? 10th Oct instead of 25th.

YABU to care how people explain their DC's age!! As is anyone else who is bothered by it. Infuriated?? Really?

To work out months you just use the same date each month so it's not hard!

I'm due on the 16th Oct so when I think how old my baby will be this time next year I don't work it out in weeks and then convert it. She'll obviously be about 10 months old. Counting weeks then converting it is over-complicating it!

I would say she's only a week out, though, so not a big deal. The week/month conversion is roughly 4,4,5 so every 3 months is 13 wks, and everything is fine. Technically, 16wks is not 4 months, but yabu if you are thinking any less of your friend for it.

Incidentally, it's my DD2's birthday next week, and for the past few months I've been saying she's "nearly 6" because that's how long she's been planning her party and excited about her birthday.

Enough, the point I was making was that it just doesn't matter. Nobody is going to change his birthday, it won't make a difference to school entry. She's enjoying her baby, no matter how many days, weeks, months.

I would maybe give exception to 18 months at a push. But other than that you round up or down to which ever is the closest month/year.

I suppose what gets me is the fact that they post these banal details in the first place. Another friend wrote "I can't believe DS will be 3 in 6 months" to which I responded "I thought his birthday was Jan 2nd". She then quickly edited it.

If you can't even count why post these boring things? She was basically saying he's 2 & a half. And....?

Can you really get worked up over if somebody says that the child is 4 months instead of 16 weeks?
