AIBU to pre-order a new Dyson Hairdryer

So they are aside from stupidly expensive not even out yet, so no independent reviews, but are available for pre-order.

I already have a much loved Parlux so have no real need for a new hairdryer but --irrational self justification to follow:

  1. I have long and very thick hair and the "PR" for the Dyson says it reduces drying time.
  1. It's temperature controlled and as my hair is very dry then it should help with its condition
  1. It looks great in the White/Silver combo (hate the grey/pink (why do manufacturers think women actually f'ing like pink bloody appliances Confused)
  1. I'm a sucker for a gadget

Anyone else considering buying one?

LOL @ donate to a refuge Grin

I think I'll wait until they've been out a couple of years and have the second or third version out.

Desperate to hear how you get on with it as I LOVE my Parlux!

Dame - that's so funny! I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to use it now before waving it at DH whilst quoting that Grin

Dont - My comment was in reference to your user name vs your comment. Surprised I have to spell it out tbh Hmm. As per your comment - ok I'll bite second time around...

I've been totally honest that it's an indulgence. So what's your point? That every "spare" penny everyone has should go to WA or any other charity?

Should I not go on holiday abroad and stay in the UK? Buy one makeup brand over another? Buy a fiesta rather than the sports car I have?

Yes - I'm very fortunate to have a good career - but I'm damn sure I have worked hard for it and continue to do so.

I also contribute £35 via DD each month to various charities of my choosing - so I don't actually feel like your moral indignation is that well founded tbh - apart from having a cheap and highly predicable shot.

It's MN FFS - it doesn't come with caveats like "don't post if your income is above X" Angry it's just the worst type of reverse snobbery.

Sorry for the de-rail everyone Sad

When ds was born dh went to Hamley's and bought him a Stieff bear. A friend was most indignant and insisted he should've donated to charity instead. He laughed at her in complete bemusement as like you,he already donates by DD every month.

Ruth Crilly uploaded quite a long review yesterday for those interested. Smile It looks interesting but I'm not so sure if it's worth that hefty price tag?

EatsShitAndLeaves · 03/06/2016 16:36

So as a heads up, mine didn't come in a leather box like hers did - so I don't think that's standard - rather that she has a special press version.

I just got the packaging I photographed above.

I get a bit Envy about the fancy things beauty bloggers get sent.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 03/06/2016 17:19

Indeed - but I guess it's all about the PR.

However it would be annoying to get one expecting a posh leather box and finding that's not included.

I did check back on the site to see if this was an option that I hadn't selected but it seems not - so I can only assume it's a special version they produced for the press.

YANBU. I have long thick course hair and it's the bane of my life. Takes ages to dry and straighten. Something like this could change my life!! Keen to hear reviews Smile

Mycraneisfixed · 04/06/2016 11:20

LOL at the people expressing horror at you spending your own money on something you want Grin and I'm pretty sure a lot of them don't have long thick frizzy hair. I have awful hair and if I read that the Dyson dryer actually makes a difference I may save up for one. (I love my Dyson vacuum cleanerStar)

EatsShitAndLeaves · 04/06/2016 11:47

Hi - I have posted my review on Style and Beauty. I linked to it in a post below for those who are interested.

LOL at the people who don't understand the difference between being horrified at the price of a hairdryer and being horrified at someone spending their own money on something.

On the subject of their vacuum cleaners, I think the Dyson Animal has a basic design fault in one of the nozzles, which is pretty crap for something so heavily designed.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/06/2016 13:17

Oooo Soup, do tell!

feellikeahugefailure · 04/06/2016 13:25

I don't buy for a second you can save money with this hairdryer!
