To hate it when people refer to dc as 'sexy'

Recently I went to a party and a guest posted a picture of their child with the hosts child along with some pictures of other kids including my dd on Facebook so I got tagged. Lots of this woman's family were talking about her boy as 'gorgeous' and 'so sexy'. Obviously this is none of my business what they write but it is not the first time I've seen this. I just think it's really inappropriate to describe a child as sexy. Does this annoy anyone else or AIBU?

Completely agree!!

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2016 16:56

Yeah it's a bit weird.

My Jack Russell Terrier's previous owner used to call him sexy Confused

GrimmauldPlace · 19/05/2016 16:57

YANBU. Makes me cringe every time I hear it.

Toddzoid · 19/05/2016 16:57

My mum did it ONCE to my DS. He'd put something she'd bought him on and she said "ooh you look dead sexy in that". I pulled her such a dagger and said "you really can't call a child SEXY, mother." She never said it again.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 19/05/2016 16:58

Do people actually do this?! Very weird, YANBU.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/05/2016 17:00

My DM used to refer to my DB's black pants as his "sexy black 'uns" Hmm. 30 years ago. Judgy pants hoiked from a very young age...

Unicorn1981 · 19/05/2016 17:00

Ha ha Toddzoid that made me laugh. Yep I've seen people say 'sexy little man' to a picture of a newborn! I really have to stop myself writing a comment. These are people I went to school with by the way not close friends! Ha ha- a Yorkshire terrier- goodness me the mind boggles!

Jack Russell sorry- not Yorkshire terrier 🙈

Do they? Never heard it. YANBU, it would be very weird and wrong.

HolditFinger · 19/05/2016 17:03

YADNBU. It's just flat out wrong and makes me cringe whenever I see or hear it.

eyebrowsonfleek · 19/05/2016 17:03

How old is the child?
If I was the mother of an adult child it wouldn't be as creepy as if the child is under 18.

BadMum1705 · 19/05/2016 17:04

I've heard a child say he has "sexy boy boobs", just so wrong!!

Wolfiefan · 19/05/2016 17:05

I think kids can be gorgeous. Like beautiful or handsome or pretty.
But sexy. Um. No.

Tonis2297 · 19/05/2016 17:05

YANBU this really grinds on me I see all the time on the dreaded Facebook 'my boys so sexy' it makes me feel sick they are cute not sexy !!

Bee182814 · 19/05/2016 17:08

Ugh I absolutely hate this too, my mum once said it to my DS when he was a few weeks old. I am now NC with her, not just for this reason, but she insisted that it was a perfectly fine and reasonable thing to call a newborn. Thank God I don't have to listen to that anymore!

DuckAndPancakes · 19/05/2016 17:10

Yeh it's weird

Ultra weird when you get kids

Pinkheart5915 · 19/05/2016 17:12

Gorgeous, handsome, beautiful all ok IMO but sexy ? What a strange word of choice

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 19/05/2016 17:13

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I FUCKING HATE THIS. Imagine if a dad called his young DD 'sexy' on Facebook - THAT'S how wrong it is.

recoils in horror

RaeSkywalker · 19/05/2016 17:13

My friend's Mum does this. The woman calls her 2 year old granddaughter sexy Confused

squoosh · 19/05/2016 17:14

YANBU

The word sexy is bandied around far too much these days. At some boring meeting some suit will refer to next quarter's projected sales as being 'sexy'.

Fuck off.

Unicorn1981 · 19/05/2016 17:14

Sorry he was 3.

I call my small DSs beautiful, gorgeous, handsome etc (even though I actually prefer to call them clever, funny, kind etc, but that's beside the point), because it's the only thing that's fucking appropriate.

It'd never even cross my mind to call them sexy. I genuinely recoil when I hear a parent do that.

Sorry, but that's a fantastic image Grin

StableButDeluded · 19/05/2016 17:25

I have never called my child sexy, nor heard anyone else do it with their own kids. Obviously this is a 'thing' that has bypassed me.
I think it's weird and totally innapropriate.
Eew, it's in the same vein as those awful kids beauty pageants in America, little girls plastered with slap and parading around wiggling their hips.
(Cringe)
