Rude woman or just me?

Hi all! Need your opinions.

So I just got back from tonight's yoga class and feel a little odd with the encounter that I just had. Well I got chatting to another woman who had just joined, as she was talking I glanced out the window for a moment and noticed the moon and I out of the blue mentioned how pretty it looked & how it affects my behaviour - no I'm not crazy haha, please mention if this happens to you too!

Anyway she proceeded to snicker at what I had just said and found a way to excuse herself as if I had just said the world's craziest thing or killed her cat or something?? Am I wrong for thinking she was really rude to laugh and excuse herself? I don't know if I want to go back to my class anymore which is a real shame because I really enjoyed going until this woman joined.

Whatever get intention was or wasn't brush it off. It's of no significance unless you give it some.

I'd have laughed too although I'm sure someone will come along with a scientific reason for it. Keep going, who cares what anyone thinks?

Bit of an over reaction much. Do you normally take things so seriously and personally? She was probably embarrassed at you telling her something quite odd and personal.

Just realised that you interrupted her to deliver this dull "fact", you're the rude one.

She was rude, petty and rather nasty. Please don't feel upset. Even if your comment made no sense to her, she could have smiled and nodded or agreed the moon looked pretty or changed the subject. No need to snub you.

I'm not sure if the moon influences my behaviour or not as I rarely notice it, but friends have said the full moon makes them excitable or worsens insomnia. I'm sure it affects crime rates too, I remember reading an article.

You will always come across a few people who snub you or try to make you feel silly. They are best ignored!

I didn't interrupt her, she had finished speaking and then I mentioned it! And yes, I'm very much a believer in the lunar effect, I'm definitely one with my thoughts during a full moon, and then sometimes I feel a little more erratic and over the place.

Thanks a lot Silk for not jumping to conclusions and making me feel a bit better about the situation, much appreciated. I'm still not sure if she's the kinda person I want to surround myself with though. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

She may feel the same about you.

If someone randomly pointed out the moon to me and said it affected their behaviour I would think they were attempting to make a joke, so I would laugh. Then when I realised they were being serious I would feel awkward and excuse myself because I would feel like an idiot for misinterpreting them.

She probably didn't mean to be rude, just didn't know what to say.

It does sound rude to just laugh outright at you, but it's also pretty rude to interrupt someone to change the subject entirely, especially when your chosen new subject is, well, you.
So I think you were rude first.

But don't let her reaction stop you going to your class is you enjoy it.

Anyway you don't have to be bff with her just because she's new to your class.

I think she probably laughed from a bit of shock and a bit of awkwardness.

You remind me of my mil. She comes out with stuff like this all the time. So far I have managed to keep a straight face. But when she says it around other people who aren't expecting it (like when she met her daughter new boyfriend for the first time) there are varying reactions. No means it, it's just a reaction.

If you insist on sharing things like this, to people you don't know you will get many reactions.

You may not want to be around her, she may not want to be around you. So either find a new yoga class or just get one with.
