Any women's voices involved at all?

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 28/01/2016 13:39

Kellie Maloney - "feels weaker now than before". Not at all subjective then Hmm

OTheHugeManatee · 28/01/2016 13:40

Kellie's response to the MTT height advantage is 'yes well it'll be good for our trans community'.

YES BUT WHAT ABOUT THE WOMEN WHO'LL BE BUMPED OUT OF THE COMPETITION?

QueenStromba · 28/01/2016 13:40

New Statesman rep (Helen Lewis) is for dropping the surgery requirement. Thinks it's an issue for only things like basketball due to height advantage but reckons it's fine for most sports. Thinks it's unfair that transwomen who win medals will be told it's because they were born men.

Kellie Maloney thinks it's fine in boxing because there are women who are tall with long reaches and there are some transwomen who are small.

vindscreenviper · 28/01/2016 13:40

what a waste of time that was

ArcheryAnnie · 28/01/2016 13:40

I think any appearance of the homophobe and domestic violence perpetrator Kellie Maloney should be precended by the introduction "and the homophobe and domestic violence perpetrator Kellie Maloney will be joining us".

FFS. Could they not find anyone to interview who had not tried to strangle a woman and got away with it scot-free?

OTheHugeManatee · 28/01/2016 13:41

FFS. Thanks, BBC and New Statesman.

The Left no longer gives two fucks about women.

QueenStromba · 28/01/2016 13:41

Kellie Maloney could well be weaker than before because they are getting old.

fidel1ne · 28/01/2016 13:41

KM just mentioned 'genetic women' but dit Helen L just say 'women from a genetic background' or did I mishear? Confused

TBF HL did say that on distribution curves (and in reality?) there are more tall men than tall women. But she was more at pains to say that problems would need ironing out and to worry that transwomen would face mockery.

OTheHugeManatee · 28/01/2016 13:46

Properly raging now.

OTheHugeManatee · 28/01/2016 13:47

Can't believe Helen whatsit was arguing that the main problem is that trans women might feel a bit sad because people would say they didn't deserve their medals Hmm

WHAT ABOUT THE WOMEN ATHLETES WHO WON'T WIN ANY FUCKING MEDALS NOW????

BicycleGasoline · 28/01/2016 13:50

I just heard it. I can't believe that that Helens main argument against was in case the transwomen wouldn't be respected enough as athletes and it would face criticism for having innate advantage. What exactly was she adding to the conversation?

IndominusRex · 28/01/2016 13:50

I can't imagine many women who support this offering to square up to KM in the ring.

BreakingDad77 · 28/01/2016 13:50

If men and women were posting the same times/distances for events then I wouldn't see a problem but the don't and the differences are quite marked.

They need to change the metrics from hormones to some other value which will mean its nigh impossible for a MTF to be able to compete unless they were say a hermaphrodite at birth.

FreshwaterSelkie · 28/01/2016 13:53

Well, who could be arsed to care about women losing when there's some really important virtue signalling about poor sad medal-winning transwomen crying all over the podium to be done? Women are just so 20th century. Losers.

I'm properly cross about this too.

Lifejustbounces · 28/01/2016 13:57

I'm fuming. Why are no sportswomen commenting on this? Or have I missed something? There's nothing in the press about the effect this will have on women (sorry, 'cis women). It's as if we don't exist anymore...

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 28/01/2016 14:00

"Women are just so 20th century"

Argh, yes, this!!

AllTheToastIsGone · 28/01/2016 14:06

I just wanted to say. When you have a baby the weight charts for boys and girls are on different pages. Right from the beginning there are physical differences between boys are girls.

Where sport is segregated it needs to be done based on sex. What possible sense can it make to segregate sports based on gender identity?

Actually this makes me question the whole premise of being trans gender. I did think that it was ok to support people's belief/wish to be a man/woman but I think it causes too much damage along the way to collude in these delusions.

It's not our bodies that have been disadvantaging us against men, it the fact that our brains are full of sparkly shit and pink unicorns.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 28/01/2016 14:11

Shock news - former boxer who beat ex-wife thinks men should be able to beat women to a pulp in the ring.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 28/01/2016 14:12

Dawn, no. Now its hidden it wont be seen at all to anyone else. Unless join and find your friend is already there!!
