Donald Trump thinks there should be a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S.

Beeb news here.

YABU. I thought that about Cameron in the last election. I was left completely dumbfounded and horribly sad. Prepare for the worst

AnyFucker · 07/12/2015 23:19

You have it wrong. His political stock will rise, not fall.

Mark my words.

ImperialBlether · 07/12/2015 23:20

I thought the same about George Bush when he didn't know anything about the world around him, but he got in twice.

DonkeyOaty · 07/12/2015 23:24

Well yes YANBU to THINK that's what ought to happen but sadly I fear you will be disappointed.

MissFitt68 · 07/12/2015 23:26

What's he doing with the Muslims already living there? 'Sending them back'?

ouryve · 07/12/2015 23:28

YABU.

The US is full of people who agree with him, unfortunately.

howtorebuild · 07/12/2015 23:28

AF has it.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 07/12/2015 23:30

Ah you're making the mistake of seeing this in a rational light.
However this is the race to be the candidate elected by Republicans. The same people who thought Sarah Palin could be vice President.

PrimeDirective · 07/12/2015 23:32

He's a joke candidate.

It's just a shame that too many of the American public don't realise that.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 07/12/2015 23:32

I was at a BBQ in New Jersey just before we went to war in Iraq. People there genuinely believed that 9/11 was carried out by Iraqis. It was an eye opening experience.

IamtheZombie · 07/12/2015 23:33

Sometimes (and this is one of those times), Zombie is ashamed to be a Yank.

How is he planning on determining how is a believer and who isn't?

Will it be a question on the immigration card?

All they'd have to do is tick no (a bit like the are you carrying firearms question).

Hmm Confused

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 07/12/2015 23:41

It's absolutely terrifying that anyone could think that Trump is a viable candidate.

Is it really possible that he could be president?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 07/12/2015 23:43

I hate to say it Mardy but I think he would decide based on where you're from and what you look like.

I know Bewitched but the logical way would be based on actual beliefs iyswim!

CruCru · 07/12/2015 23:48

It sounds terrible to say it but he does reflect the views of quite a few Americans.

bumbleymummy · 07/12/2015 23:51

Sadly there are some people who will vote for him because he said it. Every time I see him he is saying something even more ridiculous than the last time and more and more people seem to be buying it. The U.S. scares me sometimes.

GenerationX2 · 07/12/2015 23:53

Just imagine Trump in charge of the Nuclear Weapons and the red button.

It all seems so far fetched and that he is a joke - but as a poster up thread said - too many Americans think he is the second coming. I actually met a real live person who claims he was voting for Trump - and up until that conversation I thought he was one of the smarter people I know. I told my DH that I never want to see them again.

caroldecker · 07/12/2015 23:56

According to Trump, Obama is a muslim. Fortunately even the GOP will not select him.
However, he has been a major donor to Clinton, who will be president.

SelfLoathing · 07/12/2015 23:57

Are you serious?

Have you been to America?

I wouldn't be surprised if he wins and history shows this was the tipping point in his favour.

1Q84 · 07/12/2015 23:58

It's a cynical attempt by him to lead the news again. The press release is clearly labeled 'Preventing Muslim immigration' the body of the text is left ambiguous so it could be read as referring to all Muslim's entering the US.

Having got everyone talking about him, again, tomorrow he can come out and say how preposterous you all are for thinking it.

QuizteamBleakley · 07/12/2015 23:59

I'm just so gobsmacked by the speech and the fact that there is real support for his ideals. It all feels a bit too shocking to be real but understand what pp's are saying. Bloody hell.

I have no doubt whatsoever that there are millions of Americans who are intelligent, thoughtful, sensitive and logical.

But are there more of them who agree with this neanderthal?
