Can be handbag, backpack, laptop bag etc, but one for daily use as opposed to a huge hiking rucksack or luggage.

Asking as I think I've found "the one" but the price is how much!?! Shock

OP posts:
73dexter · 07/11/2015 18:45

£300 for 'the one'.

WheresMyBurrito · 07/11/2015 18:46

£50. But then I don't care about bags.

If you do and you can afford it then spend what you like!

StellaAlpina · 07/11/2015 18:47

£100odd for a nice leather one I would use every day for years.
I'm looking at that priceish nappy bags atm, I know its silly expensive for a baby bag but if thats going to be the bag I lug around for nyears x nchildren I think I might as well get a nice one.

RaspberryOverload · 07/11/2015 18:51

The most I've ever spent on a bag was £30.

I've had some nice ones, but I go for ones I like (and do the job) not ones that are £££ like some people I know in RL.

Barbie1 · 07/11/2015 18:52

£2700 for my Chanel 2.55
£800 for my mulberry weekend bag
£1200 for my Chloe every day bag..

And a few others Wink

Bags are my thing.

However I couldn't find the 'one' in a black tote...until I was wondering around China town in Kuala Lumpur...so now my 'go to' bag is a £20 fake Grin

Strokethefurrywall · 07/11/2015 18:53

Hmmm. Probably about $1000 - but it has to be really really beautiful and I would probably wince slightly handing over my card.
Would spend that on shoes though... Bizarre.

SummerNights1986 · 07/11/2015 18:53

£30 ish. Same for shoes. I'm not 'into' either.

TheSecondOfHerName · 07/11/2015 18:55

The most I have spent on a bag is £15, but I guess I would spend up to £25 for an amazing bag that suited my purposes.

Strokethefurrywall · 07/11/2015 18:55

Haha Barbie1 my diaper bag was $500 and DH almost fainted Grin

Shoes are my thing...

BugritAndTidyup · 07/11/2015 18:55

I'd like to spend about £200 i reckon, for a good quality last for years leather bag. I'm not sure I ever will spend that much though as I'm not sure I could ever justify it. Certainly no more than £300.

I ve just recently spent £800 on a Mulberry bag. Dh kept going on and on about the cost of it when he saw me with it.

He soon shut up when i pointed out he spent £1200 on a bike he had been on 5 fucking times!!!

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 07/11/2015 19:00

£20 max.

I only use a bag for work, I usually just chuck my purse and phone in my coat pocket and go.

I'm a NHS cleaner so don't need a fancy bag for meeting clients.

Maudofallhopefulness · 07/11/2015 19:10

£200 max, but can't afford that now. In the old days before kids I spent that without guilt.

dementedma · 07/11/2015 19:14

About £30 but I don't get the bag thing.

Outfoxed · 07/11/2015 19:15

A couple of hundred if it was something I loved which would go with everything and last forever and ticked every box.Luckily I don't have expensive tastes so the bags I love (usually Dune) are significantly under that mark.

Justbatteringon · 07/11/2015 19:16

£40 but I don't really care about bags as long as it does what I need, have had it for about 4/5 years now.

AnthonyBlanche · 07/11/2015 19:20

I think the most I've ever spent was about £1500, but have bought plenty of bags in the £100 to £250 range.

OP if you like the bag and can afford it without having to give up other things just buy it!

Oysterbabe · 07/11/2015 19:21

£50. To me bags are just for carrying stuff in.

swooosh · 07/11/2015 19:23

I have spent £1450. That was years ago when I was on a full time wage with no other expenses. I got it tax free and if I was to sell it now it would be at current value which is around £3500. Nowadays maybe £100 max.

HackerFucker22 · 07/11/2015 19:26

My friend spent 1k on a bag when we went away (years ago. Pre dc) and I baulked at spending £100 on a purse which I still use now 6 years later

Incidentally friend doesn't even know where said bag is now.

These days I'd spend maybe £100 for the one but I've never seen anything I prefer to the second hand bag I bought on ebay for £20.

Palomb · 07/11/2015 19:27

£200 for either shoes or bags. I get my monies worth though and only have bag on the go at any one time and use it until it falls to pieces.

I tend to like fossil bags but I know they are looked down on on here. I wouldn't know a proper posh bag if you hit me round the head with one.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 07/11/2015 19:28

If I had the money I would happily spend a couple of grand. A lot of bags keep their value so are a good investment but I wouldn't buy solely for value retention.

To me, I don't see the issue if your finances allow. We all spend money on different things eg cars, bags, jewellery, books, shoes, make up, DVDS, horses - if you can afford it buy whatever the hell you like and don't feel guilty!

PastaLaFeasta · 07/11/2015 19:29

£1k maybe but I'd have to really want it. I spent almost that before and have three other bags in the £200-300 range. Nappy bag was a bit cheaper £130. I'm quite tempted by a classic Chanel bag for a very special occasion once I'm back to work, but not sure it's worth it for me, I don't get away from the kids enough.

Mintyy · 07/11/2015 19:29

I bought a bag yesterday in TK Maxx. It was £75.00. I didn't notice what it had been reduced from. I think that's about my limit. I have one other bag I use a lot (came from Dune) which was around that kind of price, perhaps £79.00.

I'm going to say £99.00 max.
