To wince at the C word on MN

Yarboosucks · 06/10/2015 18:43

I am certainly no prude and have not lived a sheltered life…. But I am amazed at the use of the c-word on here. I just don't get the apparent acceptance to use a reference to female genitalia as an insult. Do people use that word in RL or is it just here?

I use it liberally in real life. Some people dislike it but thats not my problem.

Does it help that I use words for male genitalia as well?

ovenchips · 06/10/2015 18:45

I can only speak for myself but both is the answer. I wouldn't distinguish between that and other swear words. And I do enjoy swearing.

Spartans · 06/10/2015 18:46

I feel a bit 'meh' about it. It's a word. Not a word I use, personally.

Although I have to say I really have a hatred of the word 'turd'. But other people use it so I have to get over it Grin

mamapants · 06/10/2015 18:46

Do you wince or tut

BrucieTheShark · 06/10/2015 18:48

I hate that it is given such special status. As if a only woman's genitalia can be the worst most unspeakably disgusting thing that must not be named.

So I am working hard to make it as commonplace as the humorous 'dick' by liberal usage.

SurlyCue · 06/10/2015 18:48

CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT

DICK

molyholy · 06/10/2015 18:48

Dick, knob, cunt, bellend, cock, prick, fanny. Teeheehee Grin

AuntieStella · 06/10/2015 18:48

Agree with Derek.

Cunt is fine. Other C words used before advent Sunday are dodgy.

MN, on Twitter FB etc, describes itself as 'the one with the swearing'. Ther's no bait and switch. If you want a site which restricts or bans swearing, there are plenty to choose from.

Yarboosucks · 06/10/2015 18:49

I am really not intending this question to be provocative. I had always assumed that it was the last linguistic taboo and so I am interested in how bother view that word. FTR I have never said it nor written it but can swear like a trooper when required!

OP posts:
Hassled · 06/10/2015 18:49

I don't use it either here or in RL but have no issues with other people using it; it's just another Anglo-Saxon swear word. I'd rather a woman use it than a man - but can't really articulate why.

LemonPied · 06/10/2015 18:50

Say it OP, dares ya

Yarboosucks · 06/10/2015 18:50

how others view not bother view…. long day!

OP posts:
Crankycunt · 06/10/2015 18:51

I think cuntychops is my favourite word.

I do use the word cunt liberally in rl.

Cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt.

It's a word.

The80sweregreat · 06/10/2015 18:51

Cameron? Hate it myself

Yarboosucks · 06/10/2015 18:51

LemonPied can I save it for when I really need it?

OP posts:
LemonPied · 06/10/2015 18:53

Saaaay it. Say it loud.

Therewasanoldladywho · 06/10/2015 18:54

I agree with Brucie. Ever since I read Germaine sodding Geer I don't feel bad about using it. Why is female genitalia the worst insult I can throw? Let's get it mainstream!

ImperialBlether · 06/10/2015 18:54

I really hate it and started a thread about it once and was completely slaughtered. I don't know anyone who doesn't swear, but I don't know anyone who'd use this word.

Andylion · 06/10/2015 18:55

Are you rom the UK, OP? I think it is more commonly used in the Uk than, for example, in Canada, where I am. I am stilled shocked by it as I think it's an ugly word. It's a whole to be f*ed. There isn't a male equivalent that is as harsh.

JeremyCorbynsStylist · 06/10/2015 18:55

YANBU - the swearing on here is all a bit 'try too hard'

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/10/2015 18:57

YANBU I hate it - to me its the worst swear there is. This is a bit if a disadvantage to me living in Glasgow where the word is liberally used as punctuation.

BrandNewAndImproved · 06/10/2015 18:57

Cunt is my favourite word.

My ex is a cunt, he did cuntish things the cunt.

Swannykazoo · 06/10/2015 18:58

I'm starting the its fine to say if you have one campaign.
