To wince at the C word on MN

I am certainly no prude and have not lived a sheltered life…. But I am amazed at the use of the c-word on here. I just don't get the apparent acceptance to use a reference to female genitalia as an insult. Do people use that word in RL or is it just here?

My ex boss blocked me on FB for use of the C word.
The same disgusting vile pig who used to ask me and all the other young female workers to shag him when the punters had gone home. What a loss that was. Heaven forbid someone use the C word but being a general disgusting person is fine, seemingly.

Babba
I was suprised when I moved down South how little weight 'twat' carried.

If you want a site that bans swearing, try ARRSE

(Runs away. Very fast).

scaevola · 06/10/2015 19:36

Sorry, not Two Ronnies. Monty Python.

I never say it aloud but say cuntychops in my head at least 10 times a day. I do say twat, I didn't realise it was a 'strong' swear word in some parts Grin

BolshierAryaStark · 06/10/2015 19:37

Tis my favourite of favouritist words, it's fabulous & yes I use it all the time in RL-always makes me laugh when people say it's the worst of the swear words, I mean really, why is it?

CharleyDavidson · 06/10/2015 19:40

I really hate it. I was brought up to think that the C word was worse than the F word. I've got used to reading it on here but I won't use it.

Yarboosucks · 06/10/2015 19:43

susielovessocks oh that made me laugh!

What C word? Christmas? Crepey? Cunt?

Achooblessyou · 06/10/2015 19:45

Keep your standards OP - be happy that you don't know anyone that would make you want to use it.

I think I hate when women use it more than when men use it because I think it's misogynistic. Why would a woman want to use it as the worst possible insult???

Plus it's very offensive to a lot of people - if you're not bothered about offending any casual bystanders then fine but it's not something I'd want to do. But then I'm not big on swearing anyway.

It's not that I'd feel offended to hear it, but it definitely makes me slightly judgy.

multivac · 06/10/2015 19:48

Oh hell - 'cunt' is one thing; but combine it with an ironic use of 'tis' (with or without apostrophe) and I start to feel a little nauseated...

TealCarpet · 06/10/2015 19:50

I hate it and reading it on here makes me wince I have to admit. I'm surprised how many people on MN say they use it often in RL, I genuinely don't think I've ever heard it (except by my dad who very very occassionally uses it in an embarrassing "look how outrageously daring I am" way), so I'm not sure I believe everyone who says they use it regularly.

Starkswillriseagain · 06/10/2015 19:58

Cunt Cock Wanker Twat, if someone is acting like one then that's what they are. Cunt's not all that bad to me, but then I have friends who use it a lot and affectionately which is weird.

Primadonnagirl · 06/10/2015 19:59

Those of you who use it regularly in RL...do you use it as a swear word/ form of abuse or do you use it to describe that part of your body I.e, would you go to the doctor and say "I've got a problem with my cunt?"

Yarboosucks · 06/10/2015 20:00

I have just been discussing this with my DS (16) he said that this had been discussed at school after someone said it and was rebuked by everyone else - apparently it is seriously uncool.

I use it on here and, very occasionally, in real life.

I like the word and I associate it with this place quite a bit actually.

I don't think we're a nest of vipers but I do think we're a bunch of cunts.

cosytoaster · 06/10/2015 20:02

I don't use it on here or in RL, I think my colleagues would die of shock if I said that in front of them.

No objection to anyone else using it though.

TheDowagerCuntess · 06/10/2015 20:03

YANBU, it's so uncouth.

meditrina · 06/10/2015 20:04

So glad I'm no longer 16.

SurlyCue · 06/10/2015 20:05

would you go to the doctor and say "I've got a problem with my cunt?

Grin Grin Grin

I grew up hearing cunt as a regular swear word. My dad and all his brothers were cunts and so was anyone they were talking about. It was never used in anger. It was used affectionately to each other and if talking about someone else it was akin to saying "that git Jim"

pinkfrocks · 06/10/2015 20:05

I assume that those of you who use it in everyday life belong to the Cunt Club where all your other friends and relatives use it too.

In my experience, cunt has overtaken fuck as the worst swear word of all.

I simply don't believe everyone here who says they use it liberally - or if they do well they are not the sort of people I associate with. It is ironic that women use a derogatory word which is aimed at insulting women.

As a child I was taught never to swear as were lots of kids in the 50s and 60s. The use of hell, bloody, damn and bugger were the limit and even those got a sharp look or a back hander from parents.

In the last 20 years or so, fuck has become much more liberally used- by lots of people, not just builders who use it as every other word when talking.

I think it's laughable really that women can call men cunts when it's the worst word a man can use to describe a woman.

Starkswillriseagain · 06/10/2015 20:08

Primadonnagirl both really, but then I use it in dirty talk too and when my friend and I write. In fact I use it more in them then the swearing, usually the favourite swear is 'wanker'.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 06/10/2015 20:09

Fact is, we're allowed to use it here, we'e not moderated for swearing - which some of us quite like - and it's not mandatory to post here.

Other, fluffier forums are out there.
