I have a friend who worked in Kensington Palace and bumped into her a fair bit coming and going. My friend got the impression she hadn't much personality tbh. That's not to say my friend disliked her or anything, more like Kate was so bland and quiet that you felt a bit indifferent.

That's how I feel about her tbh. It's hard to relate to her because of it.

Cerseirys · 27/09/2015 15:11

sparklingbrook Doesn't Pippa have a column with Vanity Fair? In addition to a very hectic schedule of going on holiday and attending parties and sports events? And I think she released a cookbook a few years ago that wasn't v successful.

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 15:12

Cerseirys you are right, I vaguely remember a cookbook.

TracyBarlow · 27/09/2015 15:15

I am a republican. I'm not a fan of the royals in general. However, I think starting a thread to say how much you dislike someone who you don't know, and could be a member here, is just nasty.

It's a lovely day outside. Find something better to do.

Snossidge · 27/09/2015 15:16

Don't think I've ever heard her say anything, certainly not enough to form an opinion of her.

EponasWildDaughter · 27/09/2015 15:16

Not keen on the new fringe, it looks very half grown out and wont behave in the wind (like mine).

Is she going to 'hide' behind it a bit?

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 27/09/2015 15:18

Goodness me what a snobby lot we seem to have on MN today " who do they think they are ". They're a family who have earned their own money.

Kate seems fine to me. Nothing to particularly dislike about her. She still wears high street clothes and went to her own family after DC1 was born.

Kate Moss on the other hand I detest. Junkie airbrushed clothes horse with no care about anything other than herself yet everyone seems to rave about her. Totally baffles me!

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/09/2015 15:20

Disappointed

I wasn't aware nobody had heard of breastfeeding or doubted its existence if they had heard of it Hmm

Imustgodowntotheseaagain · 27/09/2015 15:23

I miss Diana too. Didn't she make sure she was photographed looking absolutely stunning at the Serpentine Gallery the day Charles admitted to his thing with Camilla? I loved that. A great big 'fuck you.'

DisappointedOne · 27/09/2015 15:25

I wasn't aware nobody had heard of breastfeeding or doubted its existence if they had heard of it

Obviously, but imagine the good she could have done by even saying she was breastfeeding.

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 15:26

Do we know for a fact that she did or didn't breastfeed?

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/09/2015 15:33

I don't think famous women doing it is going to make a difference to rates in the UK, in all honesty.

Kate Middleton (or any other famous woman) breastfeeding won't make it easier to cope with having a baby who has a poor latch, who only sleeps in two hours stretches at 4 months old, who won't take a bottle of expressed milk ever, mastitis, cracked nipples, the psychological impact of breastfeeding in general.

Might normalise the act of breastfeeding but given how many women start off breastfeeding and don't continue, that suggests it isn't about seeing celebs doing it and more related to their own personal circumstances.

And perhaps she isn't breastfeeding anyway.

ImperialBlether · 27/09/2015 15:33

It's one thing to want to get rid of the monarchy, it's another thing to denigrate a young woman who hasn't actually done anything wrong. Even not telling the world that she's breastfeeding isn't wrong - what business is it of ours?

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 15:37

I agree Ali, For people that are struggling the fact KM did it isn't going to help at all.
Can't see pregnant women saying 'Ooh if KM is doing it i will too' either.

eddiemairswife · 27/09/2015 15:38

Perhaps Harry will marry a short, fat girl.

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/09/2015 15:41

Exactly Sparkling!

I think the demand for women in the public eye to be role models in all ways, at all times is actually really sexist.

Nobody demands men in the public eye be role models. Decent human beings sure, role models? Virtually never.

DriverSurpriseMe · 27/09/2015 15:42

imagine the good she could have done by even saying she was breastfeeding

Rubbish!

No one has the right to give a shit whether she did or did not breastfeed.

Do you honestly think people would breastfeed just because they knew she did? And likewise, they wouldn't if they knew she didn't.

Honestly, the breastmilk mafia on MN drive me bananas Grin There are more things to life than breastfeeding promotion, really, truly, honestly...

BoyScout · 27/09/2015 15:43

It's her job to be bland. Fergie wasn't bland and everyone hates her.

I doubt she's bland behind closed doors, but she won't be showing that in public.

mariposa10 · 27/09/2015 15:43

As a privileged woman in the public eye she has a huge opportunity to do something to make a difference and as far as I'm concerned she hasn't.

It's distasteful how she and her relatives seem to appear at all these public and sporting events when they have nothing to do with royalty, taking up space that should be given to less privileged people who aren't riding on the back of someone else's money to get where they have.

All this stuff about her being a commoner is rubbish - she has barely done a day's work in her life. There is so much she could do to be a fantastic role model to girls and women. She's nothing more than a clothes horse, and I think it's sad that she has been given a voice and has no interest in using it.

shoopshoopsong · 27/09/2015 15:46

Yeah I don't think hyperemesis and breastfeeding can really have parrallels drawn between them..

InimitableJeeves · 27/09/2015 15:46

She seems unexceptional to me, whereas Diana was intensely irritating. All that winsome looking up at the camera through heavily caked eyelashes, turning up at surgical operations dripping make-up into the unfortunate patient's wound, all those "poor me" interviews.

What particularly sticks in my memory was the account of the wife of one of the men Diana fancied: apparently there were loads of silent phone calls which happened only when she picked up the phone but not for her husband whom Diana phoned regularly and at length. She used to turn up at their house regularly without warning and, if the wife was in the room, she would just sit there silently making it plain that the unfortunate woman was expected to absent herself even if she was busy - and as soon as she stepped out of the door she could hear Diana starting an animated conversation with her husband. Dreadful woman.

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 15:47

What can she do to be a fantastic role model to girls and women? That anyone will take any notice of and not criticize her for?

Cornettoninja · 27/09/2015 15:47

The marshmallows......

Huh?

How does a marshmallow company that makes one type of square marshmallow employ so many people? They haven't even got flumps.

I just...I just don't understand!

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 15:49

YY Cornetto so many employees for the marshmallow development. Confused
