AIBU to find Kate Middleton really annoying ? It's probably just me but I find her so smug. Anyway feel much better for getting that off my chest !!!

If female members of royal families in other countries can have their own voice and be proactive in making a difference there's no reason why she shouldn't.

And as for living 'the dream scenario', seriously? That's what you want for your daughters is it? It's vomit inducing. The royal family are funded by us!

Pennybun4 · 27/09/2015 16:33

With the Windsor family's track record they'll be divorced soon and he can set up home with Dan Warburton or someoone else from the Welsh Rugby team.

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 16:34

What does everyone want her to do? Confused

nokidshere · 27/09/2015 16:34

I thought she worked in the family business as a website developer? Or marketing or something - she definitely worked

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 27/09/2015 16:34

Like most of you, I have never met her so my opinion is purely based on what I have seen on the TV, in papers, online etc. etc.

I think she seems like a perfectly nice young woman who does, and has done, precisely as much as she is allowed to do. As the wife of the future King she does not have control over her own life. I couldn't play her role for all the money in the world.

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 16:35

Oh you want her to have a full time job. Right ok.

nokidshere · 27/09/2015 16:36

Lol at the list of jobs! just because she had a decent education doesn't mean she is academically bright does it?

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 16:39

Yes, not sure the Art degree is quite right for that jobs list. Grin

nokidshere · 27/09/2015 16:40

Hilarious comments from some here given that the usual stance is that women can choose to do what they like and no-one should tell them otherwise!

She chose to marry a prince and stay home with her babies - are you seriously saying that everyone who had a great education should not be allowed to do that? Or to work part time? Or to work for her dad? You are being ridiculous

At Diana's funeral, that was the first time I had ever seen any of her sisters.
ROTFLMAOPMPL
Charles went out with one of her sisters and they were both at the very top of the Polo set through their stepfather

such comment show you to be vacuous, not the classily cynical Cambridges

I strongly suspect they would love a Dutch style Royal FAmily
and shit loads less press intrusion

She did what lots of other people with degrees did - she got a job. It might not have been the one you wanted for her but there are plenty of people with higher qualifications than hers working in a stress free job or staying home with babies.

As an aside I would have loved to have been a Dr but sadly my academic skills just wouldn't hack it!

SuperFlyHigh · 27/09/2015 16:45

Both her and Wills (as hermione so succinctly puts it) boil my piss too.

He really doesn't seem to do much else apart from the odd jollies in helicopters for charidee don'tcha know? Harry seems to be far more charity involved, mostly abroad but he also seems very committed to his army life.

Seeing Kate and Wills at the rugger last night one could look at them as normal parents of 2 under fives having a naice night out - in fact she reminds me of a lot of SAHM heiress types, nice but dim, privileged and to be honest an envy figure by a few of us mere plebs or just envied for carrying it orf with aplomb. She carries the Boden striped Breton top, with expensive MOH jeans and swishy flicky hair off to perfection, as does mama Middleton.

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 16:46

You seem to have some inside information broken, how do you know all this to be true?
You also seem a bit cross with her. Confused

ALassUnparalleled · 27/09/2015 16:49

She could have been a doctor, lawyer, engineer, nuclear physicist, if she put her mind to it and worked for it.

Oh don't be ridiculous. I got 6 Scottish Higher results in the top 5% of the year I sat them and there is still only one of those professions I was qualified for.

Ta1kinPeace · 27/09/2015 16:50

broken
Half the Yah gels in the country applied to St Andrews once it was known that he was going
her parents could have changed the colour of the sky but if he'd fancied the pants of somebody elses daughter it would all have been academic

get real

they are nuts about each other
lucky them
and they are loaded
lucky them
and if they sneeze it get photographed
oh well

pinkfrocks · 27/09/2015 16:51

surely it is impossible to label someone as smug unless you know them rather well?

OP- I think what you perceive as smugness is your own envy because the only times we see the DofC are when she is dolled up and presentable. And has happy smiley face on because it's her job poor woman.

If she looked a mess and miserable every time she graced our screens then the plebs would still complain.

Sparklingbrook · 27/09/2015 16:52

I think this thread is full of massive assumptions and not much actual fact. Grin

Bakeoffcake · 27/09/2015 16:52

If I had her money I wouldn't do another days work in my life. Why the heck should she? I know plenty of women who don't work and their DHs do. It's normal in those circles.

I find Kate quite bland but who knows what she's really like around family/friends. I expect she's quite fun tbh.

MitzyLeFroof · 27/09/2015 16:53

I don't think the Queen (or the public) would take too kindly to Kate saying 'I'm done with the handshaking and ribbon cutting thanks'.

SoupDragon · 27/09/2015 16:54

He really doesn't seem to do much else apart from the odd jollies in helicopters for charidee don'tcha know?

Like flying an air ambulance? Is that a jolly in a helicopter for charity?

pinkfrocks · 27/09/2015 16:55

broken I don't know which circles you inhabit but it's clearly not the upper classes because if you did you'd know that there are zillions of women who had an expensive education then who fanny around doing a bit of posh cooking, a bit of work in a gallery, a bit of nannying or whatever, whilst waiting to marry a nice rich investment banker. Or a prince.

Pippa anyone?
Diana?

And the rest.

MarshaBrady · 27/09/2015 17:00

Did she really engineer it to be there in the same course at the same time?

I have no idea either way, but what a coup if she did. Can't believe it actually worked, he liked her.

InimitableJeeves · 27/09/2015 17:00

SuperFlyHigh, William works as an Air Ambulance pilot, it's quite a bit more than "odd jollies in helicopters".

I think it would be great if Catherine could and would use her position and brains to do something worthwhile, but to be fair she's perfectly entitled to concentrate on her children at the moment. It has to be borne in mind also that the reality is that she doesn't have free choice because of all the issues around royal protocol and the fact that whatever she does she will have the paps swarming all over her.
