So mumsnet have recently changed the option to highlight both OP's and your own posts in a specific colour. They claim that only 8% of posters use this feature and hence it's unneeded.

I and some others disagree Grin So please if you would, can you answer the following questions for me? Either to protest the change or to support MNHQ, I don't mind, just interested in this 8%. Copy and paste your answer.

No discussion of the issue (if possible) - there are already two threads in Site Stuff about it. If you want to discuss it, here's one: Link

So firstly:
Do you use the highlight posts feature?

If yes
Yes, I tried it, but I didn't like it.
Yes, I use it on the desktop and mobile site but not the app.
Yes and I would like to keep it.

If no
No, I didn't know that you could do this.
Not interested in a highlighting option.
Only use the app and it's not an option on there.

Ta very much :)

Yes and I would like to keep it.

familygermsareok · 06/08/2015 00:05

Yes, please, please, please keep it, it is very useful.

Mrsfrumble · 06/08/2015 00:08

Yes, and I would like to keep it!

FairyBiker · 06/08/2015 00:09

Please don't remove the feature. I was so relieved when you introduced it. Before then I had to copy the op name and do a search on most threads to see what was going on.

The only reason I don't use the app is it doesn't have this feature

MumsKnitter · 06/08/2015 00:20

Yes I use it and wish to keep it (and wish it was in the app!).

MooseyMouse · 06/08/2015 06:10

Yes I use it. I think it should be on by default.

Keep it!

Hadron21 · 06/08/2015 06:28

Yes and I would like to keep it.
I agree it should be on by default.

DalzielMilngavie · 06/08/2015 06:34

yes, and I like it

ScorpioMermaid · 06/08/2015 06:37

No, I didn't know you could do this.

(had I known previously I WOULD be using this feature!)

pullthecracker · 06/08/2015 06:39

Yes and I would like to keep it

SusanMichelson · 06/08/2015 06:44

Not read this at all but yes I use it and it is VERY valuable to me.

The colours are crap though (sorry) some make it almost to dark to read while the others are just clashing and dreadful. (lilac, battleship grey and olive green...yeeeay)

By 8% of users do you mean total users as in readers as well? (who don't post)

I think the issue is no one knows the option is there. Maybe you ought to do it automatically instead of opt-in?

alrayyan · 06/08/2015 07:20

If you care a jot you need a life.

Iggi999 · 06/08/2015 07:25

...says the person on mumsnet first thing in the morning Hmm

MerryInthechelseahotel · 06/08/2015 07:26

Yes

alrayyan · 06/08/2015 07:28

I am 4.5 hours ahead of you actually dearie.

alrayyan · 06/08/2015 07:30

What's your excuse?

redfairy · 06/08/2015 07:30

I use it and find it invaluable. If it could be enabled automatically it should be. I access mumsnet via my phone and I can scroll quite happily up and down to see the OPs comments which is great for those long juicy threads where you need to skip the people who have commented to mark their place or are talking tripe

Iggi999 · 06/08/2015 07:32

I don't need an excuse as I haven't looked down my nose at people who are bothered about such issues, that was just you! Why come on a thread to sneer?

Toooldtobearsed · 06/08/2015 07:34

Perhaps they could even add the option of assigning a colour to pita posters who make ridiculous posts, just for the sake of it.

Would be nice to be able to skim by them.

AnnPerkins · 06/08/2015 07:34

Yes and I would like to keep it.

inmyheadimthequeen · 06/08/2015 07:37

Yes and I would like to keep it.

alrayyan · 06/08/2015 07:41

It's hardly important. Don't you think it's a bit weird to be that invested in a website where 90% of the posters are not being themselves anyway? I do think it's sad if you care that much unless you are housebound or something. And the reason it matters is because the over invested "regulars" totally spoil every single thread with their instant sneers. There a posters who jump in the first posts of every single thread. Presumably they have their reasons for spending 30 hours a day on a website but it is not normal or healthy.

NoahVale · 06/08/2015 07:43

yes,
yes,
sometimes when the thread is so long you only need to read op's remarks.
only want to read them tbh

NoahVale · 06/08/2015 07:44

you are talking aobut yourself there alrayyan, imo, you appear to be sneering the thread.

gets on with RL, in a minute
