Using a wheelie bin for dog poo - unreasonable?

I'm willing to be told I'm being unreasonable here. I've just been shouted at by a woman for putting my poo bag (very small, my dog is a pug so doesn't produce much waste!) in her wheelie bin.

I live in a residential area, not many bins on the street, plenty of wheelie bins right next to the pavement (it's not like I walked down her driveway or anything) so I quite often just pop it in the nearest one to me as it saves walking for the next 30 mins holding a bag of shit.

Who is being unreasonable?

You put your dog shit in someone's private bin??! Seriously?? God I'd be fuming if I found you dumping your crap in my bin.

As long as it is bagged I don't see the problem. The council should provide more poo bins, but they don't, so better it's picked up and disposed of than left to fester.

Before we moved we put all our dog shite in our own green bin, never had a problem, never had a bag split or anything like that - and it was less smelly than our other general waste tbh.

I would not like that all! It will still smell and every time you open the bin fur the next two weeks or so will smell it and attract flies. If it's to unpleasant to carry home I wouldn't want it in my bin

It's not the done thing to do that. Either put it in a dog crap bin or take it home. At a pinch you could put it into a public bin, but not somebody's wheelie bin.

All dog walkers I know do this but yes people do tend to go off about it. Personally it wouldn't bother me. A bin is a bin.

I have dogs and also live at the end of a public footpath. We have had upwards of 40 dog poo bags dumped in our wheelie bin. DH has had to clear them out, the bin men don't take them if they're 'loose', I.e. not in a larger bin bag. They just gather at the bottom of the bin. We've had to put a padlock on our wheelie bin because of this.

I won't tell you the names we've been calling the people who dumped their dogs' poo in our bin. And I have 2 dogs and plenty of shit of my own

YABU. I wouldn't even think to do that and regularly bring a poo bag home to put in my bin. You defend yourself by saying it's a little poo, well it won't kill you to carry it home.

How can you put poo in a green bin? Isn't it for plant waste?

Plus if I put on other rubbish that goes on top of the bag and rips it nice dig poi all over bin

It's a bin ie a receptacle designed for waste that someone else empties. The poo is tied in a bag. It doesn't take up much space.

I don't see the problem. Being possessive about your bin if there is no practical impact on you is a bit weird.

Yabu, not because it's dog poo, but because I don't think you should put your rubbish in someone else's wheelie bin.

I'd be furious - in fact I was when some cock did it to my bin - take your dogs shit and put it in your bin!

Also our wheelie bins are only emptied every other week. So your dog poo is potentially sitting in someone's bin for 14 days. In temperatures of 26 degrees. Nice.

If everyone who walked past put their rubbish in your bin you'd have no room for your own rubbish though would you?
And carrying a bag of poo for 30 mons is just one of the many groom sacrifices we sometimes have to make for our little darlings ;)

I don't have a dog, one reason is I have a horror of their poo. I'd be really furious if you did this.

As well as anything else some people's bins are charged by weight, so it's a bloody cheek.

Very unreasonable someone did that to mine and with the hot weather the smell was so bad I had to pay someone to power wash the bin

I look after a large dog and would never, ever put a poo bag of poo in someone's bin.
I often take a carrier bag to carry the poo bag in.

I just cannot believe that you would think that this is acceptable. Dog poo will stink out the bin until next emptied (2 weeks round here). I can't help thinking that his is another example of pet owners being detached from the niceties of the rest of society.

carry it to the end of the walk. No-one forced you to have a dog.
