What were Always thinking? They were the only brand in the shop and they smell vile! Why? Why would anyone choose this? Confused

I hate them deceiving when not called scented but fresh so not clear until you get them home that they stink!

Dorisdolalee · 02/07/2015 20:54

It's horrific I agree
They stink. Why would you want that near your really sensitive bits
No wonder the cases of BV are increasing

StarlingMurmuration · 02/07/2015 20:54

YANBU at all. I hate the flowery scented towels. I don't use flowery soap or shower gel on my bits so why would I want a nasty chemical flower smell in a towel?

msgrinch · 02/07/2015 20:55

I am in the minority because I love them.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 02/07/2015 20:56

Yes, I want chemical perfumes near my already over-sensitive bits

Said no-one ever...

AntiHop · 02/07/2015 20:57

Hate they. Stopped buying them since they started stinking.

kittycatz · 02/07/2015 20:57

They absolutely stink. Horrible things. The thicker Always (don't know what they are called) aren't scented but they really are bulky.
I bought a job lot of the stinky ones not realizing they were stinky and I have had to get rid of them because I can't bear them.

bumbleymummy · 02/07/2015 20:58

I don't think they smell 'fresh' at all. It smells like air freshener or something. I also feel like it's really strong - can other people smell them when I'm wearing them? DH isn't here or I'd ask.

Really msgrinch? Do you mind if I ask why you prefer them over unscented?

Yanbu. Ridiculous idea. But a lesser evil than scented tamping- designed to go inside! Wtf?!? Why do they exist?!

hanginginthere1 · 02/07/2015 20:58

I emailed customer services of Always products.I explained that the scent from their product was so over powering that i could literally smell it on the supermarket shelf from 3 feet away! I like the product, but hate the smell.
They sent me vouchers for some free Always products, but unfortunately did not give any indication that they were going to ditch the vile scent.
They didn't really explain why they decided to add the scent in the first place.

NewsreaderChic · 02/07/2015 20:59

Agreed, I don't use them but buy for my dd's who don't want wings, but the wingless ones are scented - arghh

Pontouf · 02/07/2015 21:00

Urgh, went on holiday last month and left my mooncup at home so ended up having to use them. Absolutely revolting. Who wants a fanny that smells of old lady air freshener?!

RedandYellow24 · 02/07/2015 21:00

They smell like pine toilet cleaner.... If you are close enough to a woman to smell anything your going smell pine!! I too bought loads without noticing took me ages to try and give them away

bippityboppitypoo · 02/07/2015 21:02

Sorry but what is BV?

romeomorningwhisky · 02/07/2015 21:02

Vile!
It gives me the boak.
Same as smelly toilet paper.
No need!

NeverKnowinglyHelpful · 02/07/2015 21:06

YANBU! After ditching Always because of this, I was soooo annoyed last month when I discovered that Bodyform have started doing it too (after I'd bought several packs)!

lemonade30 · 02/07/2015 21:07

I wasn't aware that grown women used towels for anything more than post partum bleeding.

I honestly believed them to be the preserve of teenage virgins so this thread is an education even sans the olfactory/irritant issues.

RedandYellow24 · 02/07/2015 21:08

I have heavy periods so use tampons and towels or would still leak everywhere.

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 02/07/2015 21:10

lemonade30 "I wasn't aware that grown women used towels for anything more than post partum bleeding."

Well i'm in my 40s and the last thing i want to do is shove a load of cotton up my fanjo, and prefer a towel - thanks

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 02/07/2015 21:12

I just never got on with tampons. The only unscented ones I can find nowadays are the supermarket own brands.

Gabilan · 02/07/2015 21:13

I stopped using Always when they started to make them smell like these miniature pine trees you hang in your car. Damn it, have Bodyform really started to go the same route? Why on earth?

And yes, grown women do use them. I like to use both tampons and towels and chop and change between them. Although at the moment I'm going to use whatever doesn't stink.

tametempo · 02/07/2015 21:14

Yes, I'm a towel user. lemonade you don't know of anybody who uses towels after virginity? My pelvic floor is a joke after 3 children. I don't think it could hold a tampon in even if I wanted to use them!

TinyManticore · 02/07/2015 21:16

They smell like nasty cheap soap, like Febreeze. I don't buy any of them that have the word 'fresh' on them, because it's their word for perfumed. Weird.

tametempo · 02/07/2015 21:16

Oh and with regards to Always being scented, I work in a supermarket and the 'feminine hygiene' area reeks of the bloody Always scented towels! It truly smells awful.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 02/07/2015 21:18

no periods for me as have mirena coil (yay!) but DD1 has switched to washable towels and finds them so much more comfortable than these modern plasticky stinky things. They are very absorbent and wash and dry very easily, how i wish they had been around in my day.

the other day I had to queue at tesco pharmacy counter, and could smell the sanpro aisle from about 5 meters away, bleurgh!
