What were Always thinking? They were the only brand in the shop and they smell vile! Why? Why would anyone choose this? Confused

kitty they don't seem to move about, no, DD has rarely had leakage at school even doing PE, they do leak at night sometimes, then again all products do that from time to time. I guess if you wore very loose knickers or tiny thongs they might move/leak more.

lovepancakes we have 3 different sizes in different colours so its easy to grab the right size from the basket they live in (reg/super and pant liner)

lemonade30 · 02/07/2015 22:14

ah thanks dragon. I'm glad you have appraised my posts and found me decidedly non patronising.

there's nothing less gracious than taking offence where none was meant and running with it for your own amusement.
I'm so pleased that you're not guilty of doing so Hmm

and no I'm not from the 50s. I must come across as super mature though. Thanks for the compliment.

I'm actually vintage 1980.

kippersmum · 02/07/2015 22:15

Thank you for the info on the washable pads. Exactly what I need to go with the tampons I use. I'm going to get some now.

As an aside, I recently had to buy the Boots own brand equivalent of Lilets in an airport shop (it was all they had) & I am a convert. They are really good.

JellyTipisthebest · 02/07/2015 22:18

I used to use the scented ones, I had horrible cramping and very heavy periods I then moved country they so there is different brands here. A few months of using a unscented brand and I now don't leak and have no cramping.

phantom I already know I will, and although I'm irregular anyway it's the first time I've looked forward to having a period Grin

Lovepancakes · 02/07/2015 22:22

Interesting debate on tampons - I've never discussed this before but for me I just really don't like them and never have. I use them if have nothing else . They feel horrible to me especially taking them out

willbillycome · 02/07/2015 22:29

Another mooncupper here, I have to admit I expected more to have appeared.

I converted when I couldn't buy unscented towels locally and the scented ones made me soo itchy just remembering it makes me scratch.

Prettyinblue · 02/07/2015 22:36

I made the mistake of using scented panty liners once. It was horrific. Itchy and painful almost like I had rubbed myself with fibreglass.

Have they actually ever done any market feedback on this?

SaveOurBogBrushes · 02/07/2015 22:37

Always ones in the orange packaging don't have a scent. Off to check they still do them and might murder someone at always if not.

wildstrawberryplace · 02/07/2015 22:39

kondo I think you're talking about Bodyform Ultra Goodnight - long, thin, wings, in a blue packet. They are the best ones - and fortunately not scented!

FanFuckingTastic · 02/07/2015 22:44

I use them, I'm incontinent and they save me from smelling like pee, which I get really paranoid about because of constant leakage.

I can't use tampons anymore because my bladder has prolapsed, I'm definitely not a teenager or a virgin. I just find them incredibly difficult to get in and uncomfortable when I do.

SaveOurBogBrushes · 02/07/2015 22:44

Always soft and fit. If you lot buy them out I will personally hunt you all down and fill your houses with the scented ones. HTH.

Fallout4 · 02/07/2015 22:47

I care not either way, I just use whatever's on offer. Although not anymore as I don't need them any longer. Hurrah Wink

Gabilan · 02/07/2015 22:49

"Have they actually ever done any market feedback on this?"

We could send them a link to this thread. Not that it's the same as carefully selecting a survey group but still, it's not the sort of feedback I'd like a product to get.

goodasitgets · 02/07/2015 22:53

Always silk and lil let pads are unscented
I can't use tampons, they're comfy but I must have a weird anatomy as TMI I just bleed down the side of them Confused

midnightmoomoo · 02/07/2015 23:02

I can remember scented pads when I was at school in the late 80s, can't remember the brand though.

I double up too but pads aren't too much of a problem.....tampons on the other hand can drive me nuts, I think it's the stitching or thread they use, makes me itch and feel inflamed. Lillets are ok and so are the Cottons natural ones, anything else is a no go.

I don't like wings on pads either, but at least most are thinner than they used to be.

I think it was on here I read about Diary Doll knickers which I'm planning on getting DD when she's old enough to need them, at least I went to an all girls school so if anyone had an accident it wasn't so bad but DD will be co-ed so I'm thinking they might help her confidence until she can cope with tampons.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 02/07/2015 23:08

yes, has anybody ever smelt another woman's period? Really??

I have, more than once. Couldn't tell you whether it was the same person, or what product they would have been using.

The always orange ones don't smell but they changed the material on the top so it's very rough. I just want normal always topping but can't buy them any more.

BumpTheElephant · 03/07/2015 01:19

I hate that horrible febreezy smell, it makes me feel queasy. I dislike disposable pads in general though as I don't like the thought of every pad ever used sitting about in landfill somewhere.
I use washable cotton pads which are so much better.

RedandYellow24 · 03/07/2015 01:21

Poster who said about using them for urine the tens pads and the like are built for urine unlike santitry towels, no fragrances in sight! Plus hold more volume of liquid not sure if you have tried them

RedandYellow24 · 03/07/2015 01:22

*tena pads

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 03/07/2015 07:31

Off to google washable pads now.
Not been comfortable with tampons since dd ripped her way out.

ShinyS1 · 03/07/2015 07:53

''yes, has anybody ever smelt another woman's period? Really??''

Loads of times!! Pads are the worst for it. I stopped using tampons after totally freaking myself out in my early 20's reading about toxic shock! I've used pads ever since, many different varieties.

Scented pads on a hot day announce your period to the world like no other, and that's why I don't like them. They have a very distinctive, almost cloying scent, not good.
