Once more, acts of 'god' have left communities blown apart.

Does any one really feel these vilages deserved it?

God's a bit of a cunt at times.

I thought that after I started work. Why does the loving God I was brought up to trust, hurt wonderful people? People who've hurt noone? I can't come up with an answer and I need to think more to try to understand it.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/04/2015 23:04

God didn't do it. The earth moving did it. I can't imagine you will find anyone apart from a bunch of strange Baptist american right wingers who will claim that God did it.

TiggyD · 30/04/2015 23:04

And you know that car that was parked really badly near where you live? God parked it.

BunnyLebowski · 30/04/2015 23:04

God is a cunt.

My GCSE Geography teacher (convent school) told us that natural disasters were God's way of controlling the population Shock Hmm .

LaurieFairyCake · 30/04/2015 23:05

It's also only 'acts of God' for insurance claims. It's not a real thing Grin

Icimoi · 30/04/2015 23:07

But surely if God exists and is omnipotent he could have prevented the earthquake happening?

FarFromAnyRoad · 30/04/2015 23:07

I don't think God is in charge of shit like this. This strange idea that he - or she - sits up there zapping bad shit at good people for the lols is just - strange. Like the belief that he knows what you're doing all the time! Too weird.

Where does it say that God is benevolent. He's done some pretty awful things in the bible. It's my way or the highway for poor old Adam and Eve. He floods the earth, almost wiping out mankind, sent plagues and locusts, got Abraham to agree to kill his own son, and didn't he also turn a man blind and a woman into a pillar of salt?

God's always been blamed for the bad stuff. Now Jesus, he was the good guy.

expatinscotland · 30/04/2015 23:11

I don't believe in God at all.

ashtrayheart · 30/04/2015 23:12

I don't believe in any type of god.

msgrinch · 30/04/2015 23:13

I don't believe in any form of God. I guess people will find a way of justifying natural disasters etc and if that's what they choose to believe then so be it. So yanbu in my opinion.

LondonRocks · 30/04/2015 23:14

I believe in nature, morality and connectedness.

MardyBra · 30/04/2015 23:14

"I don't think God is in charge of shit like this."

So you're saying God's not very effective.

Either a bastard or useless - if there is one.

I'll manage without.

msgrinch · 30/04/2015 23:17

I really would love there to be a dude in the sky zapping shit and making stuff happen, just laying back on his cloud picking and choosing what goes on like a human version of the sims. Grin Sadly no, these horrible tragedies are just that.

Thisismyfirsttime · 30/04/2015 23:17

If he doesn't watch what you're doing all the time how does he know whether to let you into heaven?

FarFromAnyRoad · 30/04/2015 23:19

I very much like what LondonRocks said.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/04/2015 23:20

God used to do stuff with the mountains and moving shit about according to Christians.

He doesn't since he gave us free will.

msgrinch · 30/04/2015 23:21

So who's free will made the plates move that causes earthquakes? Surely that's him?

MardyBra · 30/04/2015 23:21

"And you know that car that was parked really badly near where you live? God parked it."

Was God that bitch who wouldn't let me out of a junction earlier?

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 30/04/2015 23:23

There's no such thing, so how could he do anything?

LaurieFairyCake · 30/04/2015 23:23

No ones free will made the plates move, they're not linked.

He just doesn't move shit since he gave us free will.

msgrinch · 30/04/2015 23:25

He's so confusing! Grin

It's thing like this that I struggle with from a religious perspective. 6 months ago we had a family tragedy that should ( according to my family) have ended my faith.
And for a while I wanted to stop believing. But I can't Confused
And I can't explain that either
