Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

Who is the hair wanker, please? RC - there are a few of them. Anyone? I can't concentrate until I know!

diplodocusocious · 22/04/2015 12:47

sunnymeg I am in love with chris jarvis, so jealous.

I The DD's met him after one of his roadshows with Pui and I was actually properly starstruck.

My phone battery died as I tried to take a picture and he was so nice about it (so was Pui) even though there was a big queue of people behind us.

(don't worry folks - the man in the queue behind me kindly took some pictures and messaged them to me)

Tanith · 22/04/2015 12:47

Ah! Thank you Sansarya! I get them all muddled up!

Although how I could have got that particular muddle... Blush

diplodocusocious · 22/04/2015 12:48

P.S sunnymeg do you know which team Chris bats for so I can work out if I'll ever be in with a chance?

Spermysextowel · 22/04/2015 12:59

When I worked in a fancy restaurant my nicest customers were Charles & Diana, Helen Worth & Michael Angelis, Dawn French & Lenny Henry.
My nan worked at a shop that Cilla used & totally loathed her. Rude, unpleasant etc. She's obv passed it on as neither my mother nor I will watch a programme with her on it.
Best customer ever was Gary Barlow. So clearly there to have a good dinner without any 'ta da'!

MsGee · 22/04/2015 13:02

Fergie (Duchess one) is truly horrible. Possibly the most hideous woman I have ever met.

I think someone above said she was lovely and her aide horrible. When I first met her she was lovely but she can't really keep it up for long and it doesn't take long for her true self to emerge. She doesn't keep her aides for very long as she is so horrible to them and blames them for all her fuck ups.

redshoeblueshoe · 22/04/2015 13:22

Notnob - RC is not a person but a tv show. Think running water and a little house Grin

David Gilmour always strikes me as being a gentleman. Likewise David Bowie. I confess I've never met either.

Re: Princess Michael of Kent. There have been several stories about her teaching music, as plain Mrs. Kent, at a primary school in Hull for a number of years. The primary school in question was once attended by Reece Shearsmith.

No that's the Duchess of Kent. The Duchess of Kent and Princess Michael of Kent could not be more different! One is by all accounts adorable and humble and the other is very much not!

Someone I work with said they used to know Esther Rantzen and apparently she was really nasty to her kids. How ironic!

Flossyfloof · 22/04/2015 13:51

I can't remember his name but several of my friends have met Roy Cropper. Delightful, apparently and much more handsome in r/l.

Marylou2 · 22/04/2015 13:52

Adore this thread and soooo jealous that everyone's met so many celebs.I 've only met Warwick Davis and Ryan Giggs. Both lovely.

MissBattleaxe · 22/04/2015 13:54

A friend of mine used to work in the hotel industry and she said that Rita off Corrie was very grand and actually said "do you know I am?" when the hotel refused to cash a cheque for her ( before ATM days)

I can kind of believe this because recently when her daughter got done for drink driving, Rita drove to the police station to complain. They breathalyzed her and she got charged with drink driving too!

Dieu · 22/04/2015 13:58

A past colleague of my ex husband used to work for Esther Ranzen. She was a horror and would talk degradingly about 'the cripples' etc at work (can't remember what the programme was).

notnowbono · 22/04/2015 14:07

YY to David Gilmour being an utter gentleman. I met him at a launch party for a book his wife was involved with, and he was charming and chatty, and extremely hot and very lowkey, as it was really 'her' event, not his.

According to Wikipedia, one of the princess michael of kent's middle names is hedwig, just to go off topic slightly...

JoBlogs · 22/04/2015 14:24

Place Marking - this thread is sooooooo long!

JoBlogs · 22/04/2015 14:25

David Gower is lovely, great fun (a blast from the past that one)

SistersofPercy · 22/04/2015 14:31

Friend of DS's went to work for the Beeb on Rogue Traders and tells us Matt Allwright is exactly as he comes off on TV. Funny, charming and an all round decent bloke.

BikketBikketBikket · 22/04/2015 14:52

Mark Thomas is wonderful - what you see on stage is him in RL. I was once eating in a bar/restaurant before going to see his show, and he came in, said hello and ordered a sandwich; I took the opportunity to apologise in advance, as I was going to be on the front row and had a horrible cough. He just smiled and said not to worry, and he'd got his ventolin inhaler with him, so if I needed a puff, just yell...! Smile

ArcheryAnnie · 22/04/2015 15:03

Bikket I know someone who has worked with him from time to time over the years, and says the same - that's he's absolutely lovely, normal, kind and totally not up himself at all.

VelvetRose · 22/04/2015 15:13

Years ago in Lagos my DW (who is a commercial pilot and a captain at that) was scheduled to fly Prince Phillip somewhere. He refused to let her fly him because she was female and black. Bastard.

ShockShock

VelvetRose · 22/04/2015 15:37

Yes, I know! She was livid. He said, in addition to the above that he didn't trust the "local pilots". The funny thing is DW trained in the states and speaks with a very posh "English accent" if you know what I mean!! That's hardly the point though! Luckily for him he said this to his staff who reluctantly told her. Believe me she would not have cow towed to him regardless of who he was, she is one tough cookie!
