Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

Peter Kay is delightful; Cherie Blair was very sweet to me when I met her, talking about returning to work after kids (which I had just done) and she was very motherly - also much prettier in the flesh than she appears on TV/photos. Jeremy Paxman is very nice, charming, funny. Gary Barlow (way back when, between old TT and new TT) was very lovely to natter to. John Prescott talked at my chest for 10 minutes. Jessica Hynes is very sweet and John Humphreys was very businesslike but polite in a slightly terrifying way. My friend met Drew Barrymore in a NY bar recently and declared her utterly lovely in every way.

MrGegsen2 · 21/04/2015 23:23

very rude chick.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/04/2015 23:26

Aw dear MrGegsen - but from what I've read about her fillums , maybe you had a lucky escape?

squoosh · 21/04/2015 23:28

I'll be jiggered. I never knew Paul Kaye was swoonworthy.

SiobhanSharpe · 21/04/2015 23:36

Paul Kaye? PAUL KAYE? The one who does the cocky, know-it-all shtick? Nah, must be a different one.

I met Chris Evans and his wife and son at Warrington services. They were very chatty and he said my DS (same age as theirs) was gorgeous, had beautiful lips and would be a heartbreaker one day. His wife and I bonded over warming mushed up food in the microwave! Grin

EachandEveryone · 21/04/2015 23:44

Dennis the Pennis was ace though

squoosh · 21/04/2015 23:48

Eww. What the hell is going on in that photo Siobhan. Hipster beard? Check. Hipster man bun? Check. Mid-life crisis? Most probably.

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 23:53

That photo is divine but I cannot get over his role in Pulling. Less lush, more of a lush.
MrGegsen, maybe she just had taste Wink
(For those unaware, Sasha Rose did adult films for two years and has a restraining order against her ex who pressured her into porn). Sad
Spencer from Balamory's daughter is also in this line of work and also refused to suck mrGegsen's cock

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 23:55

Yikes! That second photo is...joachim phoenix in his spoof documentary tastic!

ihavenonameonhere · 22/04/2015 00:19

The England cricket team are all cheaters on their wives / partners

Coumarin · 22/04/2015 00:31

I had a pang or two for Paul Kaye when I was a teenager. Complete opposite of who I'd find physically attractive but he has something. His eyes are really nice.

I regret my crude question I out HFW. It is assault and I hope, if it's true, that the women were ok.

rebelfor · 22/04/2015 01:10

That's a pretty wild, sweeping accusation, isn't it ihavenonameonhere?

Unless you personally have slept with the entire team?

lostoldlogin · 22/04/2015 01:11

Victoria Beckham - was absolutely lovely to me and to a friend of mine (waiter - who accidentally cracked her on the back of the head with a plate of pasta and she was super nice about it) and to my grandpa who saw her in the butchers (he has ever since described her as "a wonderfully elegant woman" :D

David Beckham, Andy Cole, Peter Schmichael, Gary Neville, Alex Ferguson - all lovely (can you tell I was a waitress in Manchester about 10 years ago?!

Cherie Blair - pleasant

Bernard Sumner (New Order)- really nice

Cristiano Ronaldo - bit sleazy (this was a long time ago) but excellent tipper so still a thumbs up.

TinkerTailorSoldierSpy · 22/04/2015 01:35

Have to back up the claims about Dawn French, right sarcastic rude cow. So up herself. A real shame.

Richard Hammond isnt friendly but I think he just doesn't like to be recognised/bothered. He eats at a café near us quite a lot and is always pretty grumpy if anyone says hello to him.

Liam Gallagher is actually lovely. I know he's no saint and has behaved very poorly a lot, but to fans he is very kind.

Bruce Springsteen is awesome, I've met him several times at show jumping competitions and he is always so polite and friendly.

PrincessUnicorn · 22/04/2015 01:36

Another for Derren Brown. Absolutely lovely, even more good looking in the flesh as well Blush I asked him to sign my tickets with a beard smiley, he laughed and did so. Also gave me a hug and a photo even though he wasn't meant too!
Chuckle brothers, legends, were really sweet, also gave me a hug!
Hank Azaria, really down to earth, went to see him in a play alongside Matthew Perry, Minnie Driver and some one else. While MP and MD arrived by car, HA just strolled round the corner whistling, signed my note pad and chatted about bikes, lovely guy.
Matthew Perry hard to judge really, was surrounded by people wanting autographs but he laughed at my "oh wow, it's MP" so he is good.
Hairy bikers, really sweet!! Met them at a local food festival, I had lost my voice and they were stood next to a music speaker, got the dj to shut the music off so we could chat.
Monty Roberts, the horse whisperer guy, really passionate man, I made him cry though through a question I asked him at a book talk.
Michael Grant, author of the Gone series, funny man, really sweet to his fans. I worked a literature festival last year and I had to take care of him and Charlie Higson, they both were happy to sign any number of things their fans wanted.

IrmaGuard · 22/04/2015 02:18

An English cricketer who did some promo work for the company I was with was a total pain in the arse. Very grand and self important, so was his wife. He has since been knighted, so I imagine he's even more grand and up himself. Has done a lot of good work for charity though, so perhaps we got him at a bad time...
I always liked Dawn French, til I read "Dear Fatty". Went clean off her after that, thought there was something very fake about her public persona, so I'm not too surprised at some of the comments upthread!

emmelinelucas · 22/04/2015 02:23

I met lots of authors/celebs who wrote a book when I was at work.
Sarah Waters - lovely, very pretty, looks about 14.
PD James - a proper lady
Jo Brand - nice, really helpful and kind to clients with MH problems
Val McDermid - a gem, ask her about the torture museum in Italy and she will love to tell you all about it !
Ann Cleeves - a pal of mine, so of course I luffs her
MC Beaton - very funny, droll and tells a good tale
Henning Mankell - gorgeous, nice voice
Anne Perry - quietly spoken, shy
Tess Gerritsen - super nice
Ben Fogle - he can be, er..difficult
Thora Hird - mucky, not really as nice as you would think
Deric Longden and Aileen Armitage - nice, helped me once and went out of their way for me.
Jackie Kay - bubbly and kind
Jackie Mason - my favourite celeb, so good to fans, chatty and funny. No airs and graces. His wife Jyll adores him
Betty Boothroyd - very attractive and knows it. Nice legs.
She wears lovely shoes
Simon Armitage - another pal. Modest, normal very talented.
There are lots more if anyone is interested.Smile

StupidBloodyKindle · 22/04/2015 02:41

I'm interested nosey
When you say 'difficult' do you mean demanding, moody or egotistical?!

Irma I haven't read Dear Fatty, what was offputting?
I respect the fact that both she and Jennifer turned down an OBE, it must be quite hard to do that unless your immediate friends and family also want a Republic Wink

StupidBloodyKindle · 22/04/2015 02:46

Oh. Apparently nothing to do with being royalist or not, rather that 14 years ago they did not believe they deserved it, compared with fundraisers et cetera Confused

StupidBloodyKindle · 22/04/2015 03:01

Having limited there are loads of refuseniks...must be just me that likes the idea of a medal then. Ones that refuse cos they want a better title are just being grabby/diva. Those that are socialists, kudos. Best refusals are Jon Snow and Benjamin Zephaniah (the former had done an expose secrets of the honours list, the latter said the word Empire reminded him of slavery).
