Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

'Bastard' is pretty mild!

Ugh.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2015 15:50

My DSis met Ian Kelsey (known on Tellyaddicts "Doctors" threads as TBFE - The Bloke From Emmerdale . He played Dave glover)

She said he was really lovely.

I adore Chris Jarvis ( I can see why he'd lose the Martin, there;s already a Martin Jarvis (Rings on theirs fingers ) .
I don't give a monkeys what team he bats for but I'd guess I'm not a contender.

He is such a good childrens' entertainer, I cannot harbour any lustful thoughts about him (It'd be like bonking Barney the dinosaur in a weird convoluted way )

Germgirl · 22/04/2015 16:02

Another one who hasn't met AH. It appears that it's only a matter of time though.
Remember the early days of The Bill? Really early days, first series I think. There was a welsh policeman with the imaginative name of 'Taffy', well, he drove a horsebox in his non-acting life & once delivered a horse for me. he was very very grumpy.
Harvey Smith (show jumper) and his son Robert Smith, I had the misfortune to meet them both many times, they were nasty people.
Pete Doherty used to live near me, I met him a few times & he was very sweet & kind.
Similarly, Sean Hughes used to drink in the pub at the end of my road, he was lovely too, but pissed most of the time.
Met Andy Bell, of Erasure fame, he was a rude twat.
Jodie Marsh was lovely to me on several occasions & once called my cat 'beautiful' so I'll be a fan forever because of that.
Jade Goody was lovely, Mike Gatting (cricketer) was really nice, shy but very sweet.
I haven't met Kanye but he's walked past me with a huge entourage. He's tiny & appears to be a complete tit - he was moaning that people were looking at him, well of course they were, you're sweeping past with loads of hangers on who are shouting into phones & bellowing at people to get out of the way because Mr West is coming though.
Plonker.

TomCruiseCreepsMeOut · 22/04/2015 16:05

I met Steven Spielberg years ago - he came across as very humble and private, almost shy. He looks hairier and shorter in real life.

I met Iain Duncan Smith through work. He was visiting young homeless people, but really spent no time talking to them and instead focused on talking to the young attractive and female members of staff.

My sister used to know John Altman who played Nasty Nick in EE...she always said he was a great guy! Really fun and sweet.

My friend knows Cliff Richard and she LOATHES him.

Sansarya · 22/04/2015 16:14

My younger brother recently met someone who is a cousin of Cliff’s “flatmate” and has holidayed at his villa. Apparently it’s spectacular! Alas he gave no insights into whether Cliff is nice or nasty…

Clawdy · 22/04/2015 16:39

Two friends of mine won a two-day trip to Portugal in a charity auction. It involved a day-trip to Cliff Richard's vineyard, where to their surprise he turned up there in his car, showed them round and was generally welcoming and charming. A few months later, he was due to appear at the Arena in Manchester, and two tickets were sent to them in the post with a nice letter, which was completely unexpected. They were not big fans, but they are now....

TomCruiseCreepsMeOut · 22/04/2015 16:49

My friend also has a house where Cliff has his villa, and she sees him at the local bars and restaurants. She won't say much, just that if we could see him like she sees him and how we is, we would hate him too. I dunno...I used to think he was ok but not sure now.

LottieMumofWilfJenkins · 22/04/2015 16:59

Forgot to say........... When we met Anthony Head he was very impressed with ds2.................Ds2 taught AH the sign language for Vampire!!!! Grin

bigmouthstrikesagain · 22/04/2015 17:01

Hmm working in LB camden parking permit office in late 90s I met a few famous folks but not in the best of circumstances. I remember bill oddie got rather impatient while I hand wrote his permit and I got a paper cut on it. His wife and daughters were lovely though. Sharleen Spiteri pulled a 'dont you know who I am" when I refused her permit. John hurt sat looking like a grand old lady in the waiting room while his assistant dealt with the paperwork. David Thewlis was ok, none were particularly happy to be in the bowels of Camden town hall to pay ££s to park their cars. Grin

BikketBikketBikket · 22/04/2015 17:07

Love it Lottiemum - I'm another in the select band of AH not-meeters, but have always thought that he seemed lovely.
Cliff on the other hand - ewwwww!

iolanthefairyqueen · 22/04/2015 17:07

My sister came across Cliff Richard and David Bowie under the same circumstances. Cliff "scuttled in, no eye contact, spoke to no-one", Bowie arrived spoke to receptionist and was polite and friendly. Sent thank you flowers to the staff and made an admirer for life. His wife is beyond stunning.

Koalafications · 22/04/2015 17:12

I think it's fair enough if the Queen says "don't you know who I am" she's on stamps, money etc we should know. Other people must just sound ridiculous.

SiobhanSharpe · 22/04/2015 17:22

Ah yes, Prince P. Apparently LOTS to come out about him once he's popped his clogs. A colleague who met him said that he (PP) was a total pisshead. Explains a lot.

WolfMoon · 22/04/2015 17:27

Only met two:

The totally gorgeous Kerry Ellis, who I've met twice and was utterly lovely. Really sweet and phenomenally talented lady.

And Tuomas Holopainen (keyboardist and composer for Nightwish) about ten years ago, who was pleasant enough but highly distant. He was something of an idol obsession at the time so I was a bit gutted Grin

Weebirdie · 22/04/2015 17:30

Ive met Prince Phillip and he seemed very nice.

123Jump · 22/04/2015 17:39

Lots of people have met Prince Philip on this thread and said he was lovely!
Just shows, on a different day...

LividofLondinium · 22/04/2015 17:46

Ah yes, Marco Pierre White. Hideous man. Vile to everyone, but does a lovely line in misogyny
I've disliked him ever since he was horrid to his first wife because her wedding dress was backless. He basically called her a slag (or similar) because of it. Don't think the marriage lasted long funny enough. He has a certain look to him that makes me think he's a complete c**t.

I have it in authority from my DSis that Richard Hammond is just lovely but his wife is a miserable, stroppy 'don't you know who I am' diva
I was at a small casual function and Hammond and family were also there. Richard was exactly as he is on screen; friendly and chatty. She wasn't. I found her aloof and she strutted around, never taking her shades off (and it wasn't sunny). I just thought it was because she was looking after their children so maybe a little distracted, or maybe she was painfully shy. Who knows.

VelvetRose · 22/04/2015 17:47

Well we are all different on different days and with different people famous or not that's true. Hopefully most of us aren't occasionally mysoginistic and racist though!

Galrick · 22/04/2015 17:50

Janet Street Porter was often in the building where I worked. I am a fan of hers, but she was incredibly loud & overbearing whenever I crossed her path - which was most often in lifts, so you notice these things!

Boy George was a long-standing friend of mine, and really lovely. I think the heroin got the better of him for a time there. Hope he's his gorgeous old self again now.
Marc Almond: delightful!
Simon & Yasmin le Bon: both very sweet and very beautiful.
Princess Diana: I wasn't a fan, but she seriously did radiate loveliness.

My sleb gossip days have been over for a long time now, (half the people I knew are dead) so I won't be dropping any more names. I love reading other people's stories! I'm sure a lot of nice/nasty is down to context, but some folks just are entitled wankers unfortunately.

Mariah Carey. I've never met her, but have heard so many awful tales!

Galrick · 22/04/2015 17:52

John Hurt sat looking like a grand old lady in the waiting room - Grin I can so picture this!

JammyGem · 22/04/2015 17:54

My uncle once mooned Princess Michael while fishing on the river near her house...

Apparently she went ballistic.

Exactly!

Celebspotter · 22/04/2015 18:08

I worked in London for many years, so saw quite a few celebs.

Loveliest:

Boris Johnson - used to wave & say "good morning" to me every day as he rode by on his bike

Victoria Beckham - about 15 years ago she was in the queue behind me in a supermarket near her home in Herts. She was lovely (& is very pretty in real life). Didn't want any special treatment & happily waited her turn.

Hugh Grant - was very sweet when I accidently stood on his foot & then sort of screamed in his face that he was Hugh Grant Blush

Rhod Gilbert - was very polite, waved and said hello when I was staring at him trying to figure out why he looked familiar

Damien Lewis - smiled and said hello to everyone as he walked through Covent Garden

Guy Ritchie - said hello to everyone as he was walking towards a street where Madonna was filming

David Beckham - sent signed photo autographs to my nephews when I asked someone who knew his mum

Peter crouch - signed autographs & chatted to everyone on the train for about half an hour, even though he looked tired & had his family with him

Worst celebrities

Madonna - very rude to everyone around her! Unofficially closed down a street where all the food stores / restaurants were one lunchtime so she could get the perfect shot. After 20 mins people started to get annoyed and wanted to be allowed past and she threw a massive diva strop. I wouldn't mind, but they weren't even filming at the time!

Jamie Cullum - actually used the phrase "yes, it really is me" when I was stood behind him wondering why some idiot was just stood there blocking the queue at Heathrow very early one morning.

Denise Welch - was drunk & attention seeking whilst waiting noisily with her boyfriend in the lounge at Euston (it was only about 6pm)
