...to Andy's wedding?! I've seen this a few times now from DMs/DMILs - what are they thinking?? Shock

Aw leave them alone. They all looked so happy.

BeaufortBelle · 12/04/2015 07:28

I think they all scrubbed up very well - even Andy. It looks like a lovely, happy family wedding. Like weddings should be. In fact, it looks as though the marriage might have been the most important part so well done them Thanks

AliceLidl · 12/04/2015 07:34

From the other photo's, there's at least one other guest in a white coat, although it's shorter than Judy's.

And her dress and hat look grey to me.

There is someone on MN who's MIL turned up to the wedding looking bridal, and people comment on their wedding photo's about their being two brides.

They very kindly posted a photo once and it's quite startling how much like a bride that MIL looked.

Bettercallsaul1 · 12/04/2015 07:40

I agree. Judy's outfit was predominantly white - and that is the bride's colour at a wedding. In photos, the focus should be on the bride and groom in their (hopefully!) "once in a lifetime outfits" - and a close relative in white, standing near to the couple, distracts from the bride in all her glory.

Close relatives' outfits should be chosen to provide a contrast with the bride, so that she (and the groom) are the focus of attention. Of all colours available to choose, why pick the one you know the bride will be wearing?

SomewhereIBelong · 12/04/2015 08:25

my stepmum wore bright coral pink (dress,hat,bag,shoes)- your eye gets drawn to her in every bloomin photo - I was so glad the photographer realised and made sure we got plenty of pics without,... MIL on the other hand wore ivory and was much less noticeable - even though I was in ivory myself.

Partyringer · 12/04/2015 08:28

I thought she looked lovely - for the races. For her son's wedding she could have avoided the "MIL in white" criticism by wearing any different colour, but she didn't, via she's shamelessly publicity seeking. Rather an own goal IMO.

wowfudge · 12/04/2015 08:32

Dear god - Judy looked lovely. She was nowhere near competing with the bride in her choice of outfit. What she wore was perfect for a wedding and would have been far more elegant for the races than the majority of the women in the photos from Aintree this week.

Why can some people not resist the urge to have a go at Judy?

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2015 08:36

The 'don't wear white to a wedding', is that a new thing? Upstaging the bride? WTF? Confused

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 12/04/2015 08:38

She looked fantastic.

StrawberryTallCake · 12/04/2015 08:44

She looks beautiful - the coat is cream and dress darker possibly beige or grey.

I loved what Kim wore too but I think she could wear anything and look fantastic and that dress is something I would pick. Smile

VolumniaDedlock · 12/04/2015 08:44

She looks amazing, not at all bridal. Perfect.

TimeToGetUp · 12/04/2015 08:51

Who are they???

RubyReins · 12/04/2015 08:57

My mother is wearing a white dress with a white veiled fascinator to my brother's wedding next month Hmm . She has advanced alzheimers and her friend (a bitch of the first order) chose it for her, no doubt to stir trouble. Should be fun...

SomewhereIBelong · 12/04/2015 08:59

TimeToGetUp - I guess you are not in the UK?

Andy Murray - the most recent British winner of Wimbledon, the winner of the Tennis Gold at the London 2012 Olympics.

susannahmoodie · 12/04/2015 09:00

I thought judy looked fab. Kim looks lovely but I agree the dress swamped her a bit. But v refreshing not to have the standard strapless a line gown which had become a bride's uniform for the last decade.

One thing I was wondering....was it a significant break from tradition to get married in the groom's home town not the bride's??

BooChunky · 12/04/2015 09:01

My MIL wore a long white lacy and beaded dress to my wedding. When I tell people they never believe me... But I show them photos... I'm not that bothered. It's a funny story.

I think Judy looked amazing... I think Kim looked pregnant.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/04/2015 09:05

Do you know the thing I liked the best? That when they came out of church they stopped to wave, not at the press, but at the well wishers from the town. I really liked that.

I thought judy looked fabulous

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 12/04/2015 09:08

She looks lovely. And the dress looks grey/beige to me.

AldiQ7 · 12/04/2015 09:16

Who are they???

Confused

Yes, it was mainly Kim's bustiness that made me think she was pregnant, but it could just be the dress.

fatlazymummy · 12/04/2015 09:17

I wore the same colour as the bride once. She wore a long dark red dress and I wore a dark red suit. Funnily enough ,no one got us confused.
It's perfectly obvious who the bride is. Andy's mum didn't 'steal the show' but she isn't going to fade into the background either. She's a striking woman with a strong personality. Kim has been with Andy long enough to know that.
And yes, Andy looks great in his kilt.

TimeToGetUp · 12/04/2015 09:24

From uk, but have been away for a while and not seen news.

Sorry, I should have guessed - I suppose I didn't expect it to be such big news. (I don't really follow sport as my excuse, so they are not on my radar!)

dementedma · 12/04/2015 09:31

Feel sorry for the mother of the bride, with all the attention on the mother f the groom. What was Kim's mum wearing?

HangingInAGruffaloStance · 12/04/2015 09:33

She looked great. Not at all bridal. It wasn't a floor length white ball gown with veil!

Luckily I doubt any of the family give a fuck what other people think.

Christinayangstwistedsister · 12/04/2015 09:39

I just think it was lovely that they brought a bit of happiness to Dunblane

medona · 12/04/2015 09:40

Get your claws out, she looked fab
