To wonder what 'normal' people eat...?

Just that really.

I have problems with food...it's very much feast or famine and nothing much in between. So if you're 'normal', what does a days food look like?

Tia

Today
Two slices of toast with marmalade
Some spinach and ricotta lasagne at lunchtime
ToAd in the hole plus beans for tea
Two little bars of chocolate (the small ones from aldi)
One satsuma
One apple

kewtogetin · 05/04/2015 20:39

Well I won't tell you what I ate today as Easter eggs don't usually make up the greater part of my diet....but a normal day would look roughly like this:
Breakfast: homemade granola with yogurt and blueberries or porridge with fruit.
Lunch: avocado on toast with soup or chicken breast salad with feta/walnuts or Turkey breast with roasted sweet potato and steamed veg.
Dinner: homemade curries/ chilli, superfood salad, lasagne, cannelloni, chicken stuffed with spinach and garlic something of that ilk.
Snacks, nuts, Greek yog with honey and seeds, bananas, strawberries, lots of water and tea.
I'm not a big drinker but will have 2-3 glasses of red a week, I workout 3-4 times a week too.

rockinrobintweet · 05/04/2015 20:40

chocolate croissant for breakfast and a banana with dd.

a marmite sandwich with some grapes at lunch and a yoghurt at lunch.

casserole for dinner.

few squares of chocolate around 7 whilst winding down.

UnalignedAnt · 05/04/2015 20:41

Breakfast - two pieces of white toast with marmite and butter
Lunch - bowl of steam veg with tin of tuna and splash of soy sauce
Dinner - Quorn escalopes with oven chips and peas

Snacks - fruit, smoothie, or packet of low-fat crisps. Wine on a weekend!

HubertCumberdale · 05/04/2015 20:41

Porridge made with water and honey most mornings.
Some sort of salad (with egg, or tuna, or salmon etc) plus fruit for lunch.
Dinner is a normal meat/ fish and veg combo.
Tea, coffee, water throughout the day.

That's a pretty normal day. Add some dark chocolate if I have pms!

cogitosum · 05/04/2015 20:42

I think so much is portion size. If I said what I eat it'd sound healthy but my portions are too big.

Aubrianna · 05/04/2015 20:42

I don't think I am normal - I am a couple of stone overweight . But I have maintained my weight since I was around 14 (I was very overweight as a child).

I eat - poached egg on toast for breakfast or porridge
Sandwich or baked potato for dinner
And then tea is something like curry, salad, soup, lasagne etc etc. anything really.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 05/04/2015 20:44

Two crackers and a sliver of cheese for breakfast
Chicken hummus salad pitta and small kitkat for lunch
Somethink like spag bols, salmon cous cous and salad (small portion) for dinner
Handful of nuts/piece of fruit/small glass of wine sometimes in the evening

I am small (5'2") and slimish though.

Writerwannabe83 · 05/04/2015 20:44

Breakfast: Crunchy Nut Cornflakes.

Snack: chocolate biscuits dipped in a cup of tea.

Lunch: sandwiches and crisps.

Dinner: DH is currently on route to the curry house to pick up our order Grin

Lagoonablue · 05/04/2015 20:45

Usually, cornflakes or granola and yoghurt for lunch. Cheese sandwich and soup for lunch. Tea is pasta pesto, veggie chillir, baked pots and beans or curry and reive etc. I snack too much though. Love chocolate!

MrsFlannel · 05/04/2015 20:46

Toast and a banana for brekky generally....that's not until 9.00 though...I can't face food before then. Lunch is likely to be a baked potato with either tuna or cheese and salad.

Dinner is vegetarian as DH is and I can't be bothered cooking twice...so vegetarian curry (no cream as DH can't eat dairy) with rice or quinoa salad....or something like a big rice salad or pasta salad. SOmetimes a veggy soup with bread.

Snacks are apples, crisps, chocolate once a week on average...the odd muffin and bananas.

WorraLiberty · 05/04/2015 20:46

I'm not sure the words 'Normal' and 'Worra' belong on the same thread but... Grin

Yesterday's list (being as though Easter Sunday isn't particularly normal)

I don't eat breakfast

Lunch was a ham salad baguette with ready salted crisps

Dinner was chicken and chips with coleslaw

Evening snack was fresh fruit salad - mostly pineapple and mango.

HouseHell · 05/04/2015 20:48

I wonder if half my problem is the fact I give food so much thought. I spend most of my life in a vicious cycle of cutting out stuff then binging to compensate. Confused
You all just sound like you eat normal stuff...

TheCatsFlaps · 05/04/2015 20:48

Cereal, five digestives, a banana, an apple, a slice of Madeira cake and some oven chips.

WipsGlitter · 05/04/2015 20:51

Breakfast- toast and marmalade, two slices
Lunch - sandwich, crisps, banana or pitta with salad and cheese
Dinner - maybe pasta, chicken dish.
Far too much snacking arm hence I'm the size if a house.

ihatelego · 05/04/2015 20:52

I normally have cereal for breakfast, maybe toast for a snack. Lunch is normally a ham/cheese/chicken sandwich, crisps, yoghurt.. then maybe some biscuits or chocolate/breakfast bar for a snack, cooked dinner with lots of veg and then the evening depends on how good i'm being, atm im heavily pg so sometimes another bowl of cereal or whatever takes my fancy.

Sallystyle · 05/04/2015 20:52

Today

5 small slices of yucky frozen flat bread pizza

4 mini lindor eggs.. the tiny ones and a creame egg. Not exactly a great day. But hey, it is Easter.

On a normal day I skip breakfast and lunch and have a main cooked meal at tea time. Occasionally I will have some grapes during the day or a small snack but I am not usually hungry until tea time. I do eat a bigger portion than most then I guess.

I'm probably not normal in terms of my eating habits but i'm at a healthy weight.

Once a week I have a take-away or go out to a restaurant. Where I will eat a huge portion of something shitty.

BIWI · 05/04/2015 20:53

Define normal! Grin

Today:

Breakfast - one sausage, one fried egg
Lunch - 3 slices homemade cauliflower pizza
Dinner - fillet steak with salad

DisappointedOne · 05/04/2015 20:53

Generally:

10-11am paleo granola or cheese/mushroom omelette

2-3pm salad with dressing and protein (cheese/egg/prawn/tuna)

7-8pm veggie sausage/fish with no-flour cauliflower cheese and 2-3 kinds of green veg

Snacks, if needed : small handful of nuts, piece of cheese or half a small bar of aldi 85% chocolate

Zippidydoodah · 05/04/2015 20:53

I have Rice Krispies or porridge with fresh fruit or raisins for breakfast.

Baked potato with tuna/cheese; soup and bread or crackers; beans and cheese on toast; sandwiches; houmous, toast/pitta and olives for lunch.

Dinner can be anything and it's not always very healthy! Today I had pasta with veggies and feta but lastnight I had a massive curry after picking when the kids are earlier in the evening Blush

I'm a pig but still a reasonable weight (10 stone at 5'5")

kewtogetin · 05/04/2015 20:53

Cutting stuff out/denying yourself just doesn't work. I've eaten 2 Easter eggs today, i don't feel guilty. I enjoyed it and I'm out at 10am tomorrow to do a weight training class so I know I'll burn it off.

ImBrian · 05/04/2015 20:53

Breakfast is porridge made with a nut based milk, chopped banana and berries.

Lunch - salad, boiled egg, sweet potato, quinoa, beetroot. Occasional bacon buttie or sushi.

Dinner- stir fried veg, rice noodles or quinoa, quorn though I do sometimes have chicken or steak with sweet potato chips/mash.

Snacks - apple and peanut butter, almonds, fruit, rice cakes with banana and peanut butter.

Most days I'll have a hot chocolate and tea till it's coming out my ears. I have chocolate a couple of times a week as well.

I try not to eat processed foods and keep meat/dairy fairly low. I rarely eat bread/rice/pasta as it makes me feel ill and I don't drink alcohol.

If I eat like this I find I maintain my weight and that's with running 3 x a week. If I drop the chocolate and some of the nut based snacks then I'll loose 1-2 lb a week.

Zippidydoodah · 05/04/2015 20:54

Oh and chocolate keeps me sane so I eat a fair bit of that! Grin

DisappointedOne · 05/04/2015 20:54

BIWI - any recommendations for cauliflower pizza? I made it once and thought it utterly disgusting!
