Eg the box tonight that's promoting the Nick Clegg chat or something similar.

It drives me insane and when they repeatedly pop up on my phone as it means I can't see half the screen. I'm forever trying, usually unsuccessfully, to click the tiny little cross to get rid of them and then lo, a few min's later, another one pops up. I end up leaving the site as can't be bothered. It's also happening on the laptop, although doesn't obscure as much of the screen.

Please get them under control MN - if I cross it once I really don't want to see it again!! I thank you...

I could just about cope if I only had to clear it once, but it seems to appear several times in one session. MNHQ, any chance of sorting some cookies, or something else that sounds technical and impressive, so it only appears once til you log back in again?

Happens on mobile and desktop, I keep closing them and they keep coming back! The pop ups have actually made me avoid anything they are promoting even if I would usually be interested!
Work fest just popped up on my right hand side, I refuse to look at more than the first few words, it will then be promoted at the top do discussions and I will hide it

Glad it's not just me. I can work round them on my tablet but they make MN on my phone unusable as I can't make them close.

It's the toolbar at the bottom that drives me round the bend as I'm always swishing it and linking to something else. Between that and the top advert banner, yes, the purple one is another obstruction on the page.

On ipad and they are equally irritating and impossible to close without opening. They pop up every time i open a thread, it's what makes me get off MN.

After much rage-filled screen-stabbing I finally managed to hit the x and close mine. Result!

The blue bar however seems here to stay - however much I try to get rid of it via the round button at the top it reappears seconds later. Ugh, I hate it.

The worst is that it behaves as though the box isnt there and clicks whatever link is underneath.

Please make it stop! Could ignore it on the desktop but on the tablet I tap the x and it either opens up the nick clegg thing (which I have zero interest in reading) or it goes to the post which was beneath it. Really, really annoying and am surprised mumsnet is behind it!

I don't read them, just see them as a nuisance and close them in annoyance. Don't understand why we have to see them more than once. It feels like Del Boy's giving me the hard sell....

Agree,very annoying, especially on my phone. I try to touch the X to get rid,then end up opening a new page because I've touched something else.
