help for strikethrough please

just to say, mumsnet has been an amazing help for me for so long, and through the many dilemmas of my life.

just wondering if someone who has the time or inclination can help.

I have been trying to do the "strikethrough" on my messages for ages.
I have looked online, but still can't grasp the best way to achieve it.

can anyone help?

It worked turn off smart punctuation in general settings on iPhone and it works.

The - - changes automatically into —

but if I do 2 with spaces then remove the space maybe I can trick it
