AIBU unreasonable to wear purple anyway? Ridiculous christening invite...

So, I said I'd go to a friend's daughter's christening (just the service) a while a go. No problems there apart from the usual trying to get into Chruch school bollocks. Just picked up the invite to check I'd got the times right for tomorrow and noticed this little beauty. "Please don't wear dark colours, after all, it's not a funeral. Also, you many not wear pink, purple or ivory unless you are the parent, God parent or grandparent".

I already have a purple dress that I was planning to wear. Is this a thing now??? I've never even read a bridezeilla missive saying one may not wear a certain colour!

How crass, dress codes are bad enough at a wedding but a christening?! Shock

fourcorneredcircle · 12/10/2014 13:15

I went, I wore purple. A few others wearing banned colours winked at me!

You need to go in a wedding dress.

Just saying.

Bettercallsaul1 · 12/10/2014 14:17

I fear the ship has sailed, Oak!

LeftRightCentre · 12/10/2014 14:19

Did they demand cash as a gift?

cardamomginger · 12/10/2014 14:22

Wear lilac, mauve, aubergine or amethyst. And get VERY offended if anyone dares to call it purple.

How stupidly daft.

Bettercallsaul1 · 12/10/2014 14:23

They probably wanted it pinned on to the pink, purple and ivory clothing of the christening party.

SauvignonBlanche · 12/10/2014 14:30

Well done OP! Grin

phantomnamechanger · 12/10/2014 14:55

I'm disappointed that their lovely invitation did not come in the form of a boaksome poem Sad

Well done OP for breaking their daft rules!Grin Now, do tell us as soon as there is any outraged feedback, won't you, we are all sat here with our popcorn waiting!

Bunbaker · 12/10/2014 14:59

Brilliant!

How did the parents of the baptised babe react?

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 12/10/2014 15:13

Brilliant. I was wondering what happened. Any comments from the "esteemed family" of the christened child? Grin
