Tattoo artist made a mistake!

Ok posting here for the traffic as sobbing at the mistake made on my tattoo today.

I asked for a treble clef behind my ear, watched him draw it out and it was perfect, then he tattooed it and of course I can't see but have got home and looked at a photo and it's backwards!

It was perfect when he drew it so no idea how it's ended up backwards but I'm devastated, it's in such a visible location as well that it looks ridiculous.

What can I do? I can't see anyway of fixing it :(

it was backwards in the mirror?

Lezprechaun · 08/10/2014 19:04

No I've seen a photograph and my partner has checked it in case the phone was flipping the picture, it's definitely backwards!

Grin are you sure you're not just seeing a mirror image??

trikken · 08/10/2014 19:04

Wouldn't it look backward in the mirror or is it the right way round?

Lezprechaun · 08/10/2014 19:04

Picture so you can see. How on earth do I fix this?

You'll have to go straight back and ask them to pay for a different artist to cover it.

GerbilsAteMyCat · 08/10/2014 19:06

Oh dear!

Pandsbear · 08/10/2014 19:06

Did he turn the drawing over...

wooooosualsuspect · 08/10/2014 19:06

Wear your hair down?

PiperIsOrange · 08/10/2014 19:06

when ever I have had a tattoo done, the image is transferred on the skin then I have had to look to see if its ok before the tattooist carried it out.

what i suspect happened is that you seen the mirror image in the shop and said its ok, then the tattoo was done.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 08/10/2014 19:06

Yes, they'll have to cover it with another design. Did they not show you it when they drew it? Or was that in the mirror and you didn't realise it would flip round?

Lezprechaun · 08/10/2014 19:08

What do you mean turn it over? I just watched him draw it and didn't see after that.

It's not going to be able to be covered with a correct treble clef is it?

So angry at myself for not checking it before he started but once I checked the drawing I didn't see what could go wrong.

How do you get it backwards if he drew it the right way !

emms1981 · 08/10/2014 19:09

Was it on a transfer?

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 08/10/2014 19:09

Did he show you the drawing just on the table, or did he hold up a mirror once it was on your skin?

Lezprechaun · 08/10/2014 19:10

Sorry to explain he drew it on paper, showed it me and I said ok. Then he transferred that to my skin and I looked in the mirror but the mirror is wall mounted and it's behind my ear so I said I can't see it at all and then he tattooed it.

OP posts:
Letthemtalk · 08/10/2014 19:13

So you didn't actually check it?

flumperoo · 08/10/2014 19:13

If it's any consolation, I think it's quite easy to get rid of black ink with laser tattoo removal. It could only take a few sessions.

Lezprechaun · 08/10/2014 19:14

Well I checked it on paper but not actually on my skin no, I didn't think I had to and he didn't ask me to. I was only looking in the mirror to check it isn't visible from the front.

My partner says it dosnt look that bad and you can't tell, she's lying isn't she lol?

Feel so bloody stupid!

OP posts:
Spindarella · 08/10/2014 19:18

Oh god. No idea at all. Hope flumperoo is right or they can come up with something to cover it. It's actually quite a nice tattoo as well.

Even looking in a mirror I'd have not noticed it being ballsed up - I struggle to tong my hair because I wind it the wrong way and burn my face.

ThePinkOcelot · 08/10/2014 19:18

I don't see what can be done with that to correct it. Why did you want a treble clef behind your ear?

girlynut · 08/10/2014 19:19

It's easy to see how this happened. You approved the design on paper but then the top of the paper is put onto your skin to mark it out. So it will be the mirror image.

I'd be inclined to go back to the tattoo artist and complain in the first instance. It's a stupid mistake on his part.

Well, I like it. And the fact that it's the wrong way round adds interest. Makes you look twiceSmile

Bearbehind · 08/10/2014 19:20

There's no point in crying about it- it can't be undone.

It doesn't sound like you have any come back in the tattoo artist as they tried to show you but you accepted you couldn't see it.

I'll be honest- It doesn't look right- you do need to get it covered or removed
