Tattoo artist made a mistake!

Ok posting here for the traffic as sobbing at the mistake made on my tattoo today.

I asked for a treble clef behind my ear, watched him draw it out and it was perfect, then he tattooed it and of course I can't see but have got home and looked at a photo and it's backwards!

It was perfect when he drew it so no idea how it's ended up backwards but I'm devastated, it's in such a visible location as well that it looks ridiculous.

What can I do? I can't see anyway of fixing it :(

It will take about eight-ten months for removal, I reckon. You have to wait I think 4-6 weeks between sessions and simple tattoos need at least eight sessions, normally more.

So sorry to hear about all of this op. I hope that you can get something sorted out. Sending best wishes Thanks

A friend of mine had a spelling mistake in a latin script tattoo, she went back and the tattoo artist tried a new technique where he tattooed over the the mistake with saline solution and it disappeared a few days later, then it was fixed a couple of weeks later. It worked really well but think it only works on new tattoos...

How long is your hair OP? Can you wear it long and to the side in the meantime, like one of those wedding-y low side ponytails or a fishtail plait?

Unfortunately as a crap ex-musician I can see it's a glaring mistake and I don't think either the bird or the mirrored treble clefs would work. However the one combined with the bass clef might. Don't suppose you play a bass instrument do you?

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2014 21:25

Understand why you are not happy :(

Tho least he is willing to rectify his mistake

The pics of the bird with notes looks good or the two hearts so I would think seriously about changing /adding rather then lasering

ESP if can't do it for 6 weeks and gonna take several aessions with time apart Prob means that the tattoo won't be gone for almost a year

It looks like a dollar sign.

Why do this to yourself ?

Get it removed, put down to experience and don't ever have another one.

Sorry about your bad experience. I had a similar size black tattoo removed by laser around 8 years ago (grew out of it and wouldn't get another!). It was in fact thicker and took 4 sessions over a couple of months so the technology is probably even faster these days, was going for a final session but it was invisible to me so didn't go back. I'd get them to pay for professional removal. Oh and the removal was NOT painful, sounds like the artist is trying to get you to go for cover up, and no way would i try to cover that up in that area... good luck!

Thanks it helps to hear from people who have had laser removal. From what I understand new tattoos are harder to remove than old ones although black is the easier colour to remove?

I've been told it may take around 6 to 8 sessions and that I have to leave 6 weeks between sessions so including the 4 weeks it has to heal for before the first session it's going to take close to a year to be gone!!

Glad the pain isn't as bad as I've been told, did you have any pain relief with the treatment or do you mean just as it is?

Also I've been told some lasers are better than others in terms of pain level, I'm wondering if the one the tattooist uses is a more painful one as he was quite concerned about how I would cope with it.

Google isn't helping as when I googled for images of laser removal to see how well it works there are loads of pictures of people with severe burns and pus filled blisters after the treatment! Is that a normal aspect of tattoo removal? What is the healing like inbetween sessions? Also are there any risks?

I really want it removed I'm just really scared about the removal process and thinking a cover up will be easier, but then I won't be ending up with what I wanted and it will have to go slightly bigger to cover t which I also don't want and it may end up being worse.

I'd probably go with laser removal myself as well. If you're embarrassed about it you can buy cover-ups for it and just wear those between treatments. It's only small so that should be relatively easy.

Or you can keep it as a conversation starter!

Here are before and afters from Dr Tattoff.

AnnieLobeseder · 12/10/2014 10:30

This is mine after 4 (5?) sessions, but a) it's blue, which is the hardest colour to get out and b) it's two layers of ink as I tried to have it touched up before I went for lasering in the end. So this is an example of worst possible case for removal. More sessions would probably have removed it completely, but I was only trying to fade it enough for a cover-up.

You can see the black is pretty much completely gone, though.

AnnieLobeseder · 12/10/2014 10:32

Sorry about the multiple posts, the file upload went a bit mad!!

Lezprechaun · 15/10/2014 18:12

Thanks for all the advice. Just waiting for it to finish heal and will be starting the removal process.
