Tattoo artist made a mistake!

Ok posting here for the traffic as sobbing at the mistake made on my tattoo today.

I asked for a treble clef behind my ear, watched him draw it out and it was perfect, then he tattooed it and of course I can't see but have got home and looked at a photo and it's backwards!

It was perfect when he drew it so no idea how it's ended up backwards but I'm devastated, it's in such a visible location as well that it looks ridiculous.

What can I do? I can't see anyway of fixing it :(

The best suggestion imo is to have another one the right way round, intertwined with it. And he will bloody well do it for free. And tomorrow.

Bartlebee · 08/10/2014 20:44

I would get it removed, not covered.

googoodolly · 08/10/2014 20:52

Whatever you choose OP, you won't be able to get it done straight away. Tattoos need to heal first. You can't just ink over them 24 hours later.

Bodicea · 08/10/2014 20:55

Could you pretend it is a posh S? Maybe someone you know care about has a name that begins with S. You could say it is a play on the letter S and the treble cleff

I also used to be a musician, and I would notice straight away that it's backwards. Get it taken off (at their expense) and redone.

OwlCapone · 08/10/2014 21:06

The thing is, the OP knows it was a mistake and all the pretending and convoluted explanations aren't going to change that.

Lezprechaun · 08/10/2014 21:07

Love the letter S idea, if only I knew someone who's name started with an S :(

It might be easier to rename one of the children then having it removed?

I'm bloody devastated as looked forward to this for so long and I look like an idiot now, trust me when I say everyone in my circle will instantly know it's wrong!

Nothing I can do for now, waiting for the tattooist to reply and will go from there. I know they have recently started doing laser removal so he might even offer to remove it himself.

I would get it changed into this

Tattoo artist made a mistake!
KnackeredMuchly · 08/10/2014 21:15

I would accept nothing less than free removal and grovelling apologies.

AlpacaYourThings · 08/10/2014 21:20

Oh I really feel for you! I would be livid.

Love the musical bird that Honorary posted.

grocklebox · 08/10/2014 21:25

I think you should get it removed and not tattoo your head again.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/10/2014 21:28

I like that, Honorary! It's v lovely.

Sallystyle · 08/10/2014 21:31

I like it!

I have this on my ear

www.tattoocanyon.com/21-cat-tattoos/20065-cat-tattoo-on-ear/

It looked great at first and it is still my favourite but it now resembles a rat! I happen to own rats so no longer correct people when they tell me they love my rat tattoo Grin

Sallystyle · 08/10/2014 21:32

Ohhh do the bird! I think I want it myself.

EggsAreRound · 08/10/2014 21:35

But the bird has the treble clef the right way round. Anyone who knows music will see it and know it's wrong.

gentlehoney · 08/10/2014 21:36

Could you turn it into a trombone or something?

Bearbehind · 08/10/2014 21:38

Making even more of a feature of a back to front treble clef like the bird is a really bad idea.

TiddlesUpATree · 08/10/2014 21:40

You had it done because you wanted a tattoo right? When you look at it (in the mirror) it's perfect and exactly what YOU want. Keep it. Exactly as it is. because you did it for you, and if anyone says anything, well they are just looking wrong. Smile

Bearbehind · 08/10/2014 21:44

when you look at it (in the mirror) it's perfect and exactly what YOU want.

That's fine in theory except this whole problem happened because she can't see it in a mirror.......

OhForFrigSake · 08/10/2014 21:46

I haven't read the full thread but just wanted to say - I run a small business removing tattoos using laser and the good news is that your tattoo is the easiest to remove. Black ink breaks down most quickly of any pigment and recent tattoos also respond well to laser. It usually takes between 3 - 8 sessions to remove a tattoo and this would likely be at the more conservative end of that scale. Each session costs (in my clinic) £65 and you would need to wait 4-6 weeks between sessions to allow the skin to heal and your immune system to remove the pigment molecules.

If you do choose to get it removed, please make sure you visit a clinic where the practitioner has been trained as this is not mandatory so there are cowboys out there. You will get the best results from an active Q switched laser - not one of these little table top things that look like a hairdryer attached to a vacuum cleaner!

Hope this helps!

Bodicea · 08/10/2014 21:59

You will have to have another child and name it something beginning with S ;-)

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 22:15

Oh your poor thing - that's terrible. What an idiot he is!!

AnnieLobeseder · 08/10/2014 22:27

Oh no, I'd be gutted!! It's such a visible tattoo, and sadly, as a musician surrounded by other musicians, you're going to be getting a lot of people pointing out to you that it's backwards. It will drive you crazy and I think you're best off getting it removed. With the tattoo artist contributing to the cost. Frankly, I'm surprised at a reputable artist agreeing to a tattoo on your head as your first tattoo. IME most won't do heads or hands unless the client already has a significant number of tattoos. Though I suppose this might have changed with the current fashion of hand/neck/foot tattoos. It will be interesting to see how these tattoos come to be perceived once the fashion moves on.

bellarations · 08/10/2014 22:33

Tattoo artist is a dunce for not realising the treble clef was reversed. Twatitcus maximums!
