To think this ISNT gross and stinky

I struggle in the morning. At night I run a bath, soak for a while then have a full body wash and shampoo and condition hair, blow dry it then sleep.

Morning I brush teeth, use a facial wipe for face and straighten hair.

have been told in general conversation eww that's gross, yuck I have to have a shower and do I not feel dirty.

Why would I feel dirty, my beds clean!

AIBU?

ClapHandsIfYouBelieveInFatties · 30/09/2014 21:59

YANBU. Some people love a morning shower...others don't and unless you're a sweaty sleeper why would you need to wash fully again? I don't. I sometimes have a wipe in the bits that matter but that's all. I don't want to go in the shower and then spend an hour on my hair!

McBear · 30/09/2014 21:59

It's probably the bath thing rather than the evening thing. I don't feel clean after baths. I always shower in the evening as no time in morning.

ThisNameIsBetterThanMyRealOne · 30/09/2014 22:01

I dunno, MN has a warped sense of cleanliness.

I personally shower every night (which is not enough for some on here) BUT I must say I find Bath's pretty minging.

Littledidsheknow · 30/09/2014 22:01

Daily bath? Not at all stinky. Who told you that that was gross?

OraProNobis · 30/09/2014 22:01

There's altogether too much of this constant showering nonsense I'm afraid. We live in times of plenty - plenty of water, plenty of electricity to heat the water, plenty of time, lots of lovely lotions and potions for the bath/shower. You think previous generations had all this? No. And do people really seriously think it's a great idea to furiously wash off the skin's natural oils at every available opportunity? The skin produces oils as a barrier. Wash the skin twice a day and there's no protection. Think it through and stop showering yourselves silly!

phew - climbs off hobby-horse!!

BettyFocker · 30/09/2014 22:02

YANBU. You have the same routine as me. Our shower is shit so baths are the only option. I never feel unclean in the morning and I've never heard anyone make such a comment.

If someone said, "Yuck" about my washing routine I'd tell them where to go.

OraProNobis · 30/09/2014 22:03

See? There's my point right there -

Sorry - but ridiculous. How clean do you want to be actually? And do you really think that level of washing yourself is a. sustainable and b.actually good for you?

CarmineRose1978 · 30/09/2014 22:04

I sweat in the night if it's hot, especially now that I'm pregnant, and me and DP sleep naked (and sometimes shag before we sleep) so a shower in the morning is a must. I envy people who can do it all the night before.

markhammax · 30/09/2014 22:04

I don't see what's unclean about baths to be honest. Unless you're covered in mud or poo or something Grin

It's just an evening routine for me. I do sort of shower as I shower after the bath to wash properly (with a shower puff thing) and shampoo and condition hair. So it isn't as if I'm just lying in the bath then getting out. I just love a nice hot bath to end the day, I always used to prefer morning showers but now I prefer it this way round is all.

McBear · 30/09/2014 22:05

I have a hot bath so I sweat. Therefore, not clean. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? I only shower once a week so I'm fine for the environment Grin

Purplepoodle · 30/09/2014 22:05

I would have no problem with that. Society is obsessed with washing every day

wheresthelight · 30/09/2014 22:07

I can't function without a wake up shower but as long as you aren't sweaty when you wake up then I don't see the issue personally

Hairylegs47 · 30/09/2014 22:07

YANBU.
What's with the fascination with uber cleanliness that folk seem to have bought into? Unless you have a 'dirty' job, even every other day is better for your skin and the water table.
Off to put my tin hat on and spray me bits with fabreeze
Wink
Grin

skylark2 · 30/09/2014 22:08

I don't have a daily bath and we don't even own a shower.

Sue me now.

whois · 30/09/2014 22:09

I prefer and evening shower.

As long as you're not a sweaty sleeper and you've not had sex I can't see how you can be gross and sticky.

professornangnang · 30/09/2014 22:09

My routine is the same.

OraProNobis · 30/09/2014 22:10

What Purplepoodle said. Society IS obsessed with washing and it will turn out to be the worst disservice we could have done for ourselves. The body works the way it does for a reason. I'm not advocating never washing btw - but too many people over do it because they think they stink, or because they were a bit sweaty once in the day, or because they think bathwater is dirty (I can't get over this line of thought at all! Grin). Stop and think please - you're washing away your skin's protection!

I'll stop now before they come for me with anti-froth medication and a strong length of rope!

mausmaus · 30/09/2014 22:10

baths/showers ... both use water to get clean, it's just a case of preference.
so yabnu, when the dc were babies I did the same.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 30/09/2014 22:13

I only shower every 2 days (shags excepting). My skin is super-dry and I don't see the point of showering only to moisturise - my skin feels far calmer and less 'angry' with this routine.

StillSquirrelling · 30/09/2014 22:14

I only shower every other day unless it's rag week - if I shower every day my skin gets really dry and itchy. To be honest, I only shower that often because my hair gets manky otherwise. I don't smell, and in fact people often compliment me on my nice smell (I find it a bit odd when people say that though - think it must be my fabric conditioner!). I don't feel dirty either, unless I've had a particularly sweaty night - since I had my third child I seem to get night sweats on my back and chest (DH says it's because I hermetically seal myself in the duvet!). If that's the case I'll have a bit of a wash with the sponge and soap.

I'm also of the opinion that people bathe far too frequently these days too. Coupled with central heating etc, it's probably the reason for the increase in skin conditions. Obviously there are still many people who could do with bathing waaaay more regularly!

IScreamForIceCream · 30/09/2014 22:14

I'm normally at the slovenly end of the MN spectrum, but I'd say that without a wash of 'pits and bits' in the morning, it's not very clean, no.

Artandco · 30/09/2014 22:16

10 min shower in eve when I wash properly/ hair / shave or whatever ( usually alternate hairwash or shaving every other day)

1 min quick freshen up shower in am. Don't get hair wet. Just quick soap and water and quicker than wash at sink, incase sweaty from night sleep/ sex/ whatever

Bakeoffcakes · 30/09/2014 22:18

I don't like to go to bed feeling dirty, so I shower before I go to bed.

I think whoever said you were "gross" OP, is a rude idiot.

markhammax · 30/09/2014 22:19

But my pits and bits aren't doing anything overnight Wink you lot have a LOT of sex
