I struggle in the morning. At night I run a bath, soak for a while then have a full body wash and shampoo and condition hair, blow dry it then sleep.

Morning I brush teeth, use a facial wipe for face and straighten hair.

have been told in general conversation eww that's gross, yuck I have to have a shower and do I not feel dirty.

Why would I feel dirty, my beds clean!

AIBU?

I think Mumsnet is dirtier than real life.

It is yucky - you sweat 2 pints a night. You don't wake up clean because you went to bed clean. Confused

If I have a bath and don't apply deodorant to my armpits I wake up with smelly armpits.

And my vulva and anus are none to fragrant.

I'm not having a strip wash in the morning and cloth washing my anus while hoping my limbs are clean. Grin

I have a shower because it takes 3 minutes.

Seriously, who wakes up fragrant Hmm, fairies?

smokeandglitter · 30/09/2014 22:20

Um, well I freshen up in the morning and im not a sweaty sleeper but can get away with a wipe and some deodorant. DH however stinks after 5 hours at work non manual job, we're all different they may need to wash more than you. Have friends who reek after a nights sleep - they'll be the first to tell you! They would need a shower in the morning.

smokeandglitter · 30/09/2014 22:21

Just want to clarify usually at least sink wash but can get away with a wipe on rushed occasions!

gentlehoney · 30/09/2014 22:22

I think you need to wash your bits and pieces before you go out.

markhammax · 30/09/2014 22:24

Im just not particularly sweaty, I don't think. Even after exercise I don't sweat a lot, obviously I do sweat but not loads. Im not sweaty overnight, it's no different to wearing clothes in the day Confused i mean all I'm doing is sleeping not running about getting sweaty! Grin

Oh well no ones complained lol

My dh has a shower once a week & hasn't used shampoo for 20 years. He hasn't died of dirtiness yet, nor is he noticably stinky.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 30/09/2014 22:27

Sweat two pints a night? Says who?
I only sweat at night if I'm hot. With the right duvet and pyjamas I'm not hot. I know if I've sweated at night because I wake up sticky and muggy but if I wake up smelling fine then I just have a quick wash with a flannel. I'm 100% sure I don't smell even on mornings when I've showered or bathed the night before.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/09/2014 22:27

No, you think you're not sweaty

You do definitely sweat approx 2 pints a night

ClashCityRocker · 30/09/2014 22:27

Yup, I'm a bath-er.

I may shower if I'm going out at night and have been at work all day, but mainly a wash of the face and a bit of deo and I'm good to go - shagging and periods excepted.

The idea of showering in the morning fills me with dread.

markhammax · 30/09/2014 22:29

Well my sheets are dry, I'm dry and I don't smell so I think that might not be the case to be honest Laurie, I mean if you chucked 4 pints of fluid over the average double bed it'd be soaked!

OP posts:
markhammax · 30/09/2014 22:29

Me too clash! I just can't face it!

2 pints a night is an urban myth.

www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2977/do-i-sweat-a-liter-every-night

LaurieFairyCake · 30/09/2014 22:30

Apparently we wake up 1/2 to 1 pound lighter from all that sweating

Result Grin

LeftRightCentre · 30/09/2014 22:33

YANBU. Only on MN have I heard of people having 2+ showers a day.

FamiliesShareGerms · 30/09/2014 22:35

Op you are on a hiding to nothing here.

I'm still reeling from being told the bathing facilities for my child were unacceptable because in HER repeat HER own bathroom I have only provided a bath wi a shower attachment. Apparently she also should have her own walk in shower in her bathroom as well as baths are skanky and basically I should expect SW at the door to remove her due to neglect.

I'm a daily towel washer and even I shower before bed btw. I don't often bath because it takes too long and I prefer to shower in the evening rather than the morning. I don't think dysentery is due to set in with you any time soon.

Bakeoffcakes · 30/09/2014 22:36

I don't sweat at night either! Just becasue some of you do doesn't mean everyone is the same. It always amazes me on MN that people can't get their heads around the fact that people are different to them.

Thanks for that link skylark

Bakeoffcakes · 30/09/2014 22:37

Also we never have the heating on at night. In fact we often have the windows open at night- even in the autumn and spring.

markhammax · 30/09/2014 22:38

Rj whaaaat? Seriously?

I don't wash my towels every day Confused mind you I don't really dry myself much.

OP posts:
YellowYoYoYam · 30/09/2014 22:39

It's not yucky or stinky.

I really don't understand washing your face in the morning with a facial wipe though. Those things always make me feel sticky and unclean.

Momagain1 · 30/09/2014 22:39

YANBU
I used wash at night as a single parent. Made the mornings easier.

These days i shower every other morning, or after going for a run or some other sweaty activity. Maybe daily in summer, but in winter I might even go two days between showers!

EBearhug · 30/09/2014 22:39

I like to wash the day off me before I go to sleep. I sleep better that way.

If I have a shower in the morning it's because it's really hot, like tropical summer, or because I have had a bad night's sleep and am really struggling and need to wake up more, or because I've actually made it to the swimming pool before work for once.

markhammax · 30/09/2014 22:42

I like facial wipes. I find it quite difficult to wash with soap without getting it in my hair and it just makes it nice and straightforward.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/09/2014 22:43

Two pints weighs 2 1/2 pounds so it's an easy assertion for people to test tonight.

RJnomore · 30/09/2014 22:43

Yes seriously!

Towels - there's been some heated debats on it before but my point is, I'm regarded as obsessive because of that but I STILL maintain you aren't manky if you wash in the evening.
