I struggle in the morning. At night I run a bath, soak for a while then have a full body wash and shampoo and condition hair, blow dry it then sleep.

Morning I brush teeth, use a facial wipe for face and straighten hair.

have been told in general conversation eww that's gross, yuck I have to have a shower and do I not feel dirty.

Why would I feel dirty, my beds clean!

AIBU?

As a family we have had an outbreak of worms a couple of times Confused and the advice on the worm treatment is to wash your bottom in the morning! So we all shower in the morning, but then my school age children get muddy legs during the day, so they have a quick bath at night to get clean. Not sure how to get round this?

SaggyAndLucy · 30/09/2014 23:26

2 pints a night is bollocks! you pour 4 pints of liquid onto your double mattress and see where it gets you!
some days I don't drink 2 pints of anything. By the 2 pints reasoning I should be a fecking raisin!

LadyLuck10 · 30/09/2014 23:30

Slippermaiden did you have to seek out advice for that Confused surely it's common knowledge to wash your bottom In the morning?

MiuChoos · 30/09/2014 23:31

Having a bath every single night and then a shower in the morning as WELL is no good for you.
Seriously. Who-ever told you this is talking a load of bollocks. That level of washing would strip your skin of any natural protection and oils.
As a life long sufferer of eczema, it's common knowledge that it's not good to bathe every single day for this exact reason.

Every other day, then that's fair enough. Every day a bath and a shower then isn't doing anyone any favours, least of all your skin.

markhammax · 30/09/2014 23:34

Don't worry slipper I don't wash my arse in the morning specially Grin

MidniteScribbler · 30/09/2014 23:43

I don't feel clean unless I've showered and washed my hair in the morning. I just don't feel like I'm fully awake. I hate that I have to wash my hair everyday (looks awful if I don't) but I try and just have a shower and not wash my hair on days when I'm going to be home all day so it gets a break. I often have a rinse off shower at nigh as well, especially if it's been a hot day, or I've done sport, or been in the spa or pool.

I don't care what routine other people have as long as they don't stink in my general vicinity.

ChippingInLatteLover · 30/09/2014 23:44

I shower twice a day (at least), I have nice skin. If you don't want to shower twice a day, fine, but do STFU about it being Oh So Terrible For Your Skin

I never leave the house without having had a shower, I'd just feel grim.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 30/09/2014 23:44

I am also better off showering & washing my hair in the evening. Partly because I work as a Carer & need to just get my uniform off and shower when I come home from work at 11pm and partly because being in a hot, steamy bathroom when I have just woken up makes me feel sick and dizzy.

No-one who showers or bathes every single day can be described as dirty. Unless they are a mud wrestler.

StillSquirrelling · 30/09/2014 23:44

I don't wash my arse in the morning either - unless I'm having a shower of course. I've never been accused of having a dirty smelly arse not even by a previous rather kinky ex who was rather fond of bottoms!

Fluffyears · 30/09/2014 23:45

I shower every morning. I have excema and it doesn't exacerbate it. There is a whiffy guy at work who obviously doesn't clean himself in the morning. Another
Bloke squeezed past me in the office and it was obvious he's just put deodorant on without washing so you can tell. I would feel bogging without my morning shower.

LadyLuck10 · 30/09/2014 23:51

Fluffy that's exactly what I meant. You can just just tell when someone has sprayed on extra deodorant but has that lingering whiff.
Even when women who use wet wipes or whatever instead of washing her face properly, you can tell the makeup is 'reapplied'.

Thisvehicleisreversing · 01/10/2014 00:51

I only shower every other day, although I do have to wash my very greasy hair every morning.

I don't get sweaty and I'm pretty sure I don't smell.

I don't even bother with the whole 'washing your bits' every day either. Unless I feel particularly sticky or smelly down there I leave it alone.

I also sleep in my make up. I'm clearly a disgusting creature. Grin

Sapat · 01/10/2014 00:57

I think washing once in 24 hours is perfectly sufficient. I only shower in the morning because I wash my hair every day and I get appalling bed hair.

ScrambledeggLDCcakeBOAK · 01/10/2014 01:06

Iv only read the start.

I only shower at night I hate the rush with my hair in the morning.

I do however wash at the sink In The morning though ie "the bits" and oxters.

JeanneDeMontbaston · 01/10/2014 01:08

I personally feel better if I shower in the morning. Baths are more relaxing, so better for the evening. But unless you are very dirty, they will clean you well enough.

It is silly to talk about two pints of sweat (really?! Is that even true?) during the night ... if that's true, then surely the OP is nicer and fresher for going to sleep with her DH, while the rest of us are revolting sweat pools.

I tend to think most healthy people are perfectly capable of noticing when they need a shower, and acting on it. The people who don't do this - well, I doubt they'd suddenly learn cleanliness from a thread on MN.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 01/10/2014 01:15

Washing once a day is fine. It makes little difference whether it's morning, noon or night.

ScrambledeggLDCcakeBOAK · 01/10/2014 01:18

Being honest I shower every 2nd day.

Wash at the sink every day.

SaggyAndLucy · 01/10/2014 01:20

Can you imagine? A double bed absorbing 2 pints of sweat a day from each person would have soaked up 1460 pints of sweat a year! Hmm

GarlicSeptimus · 01/10/2014 01:20

OP, I once said this to a woman about 30 years ago - and still feel terrible! She and her DH both had early-start jobs and it just came up in the conversation that they bathed/showered before bed, saving time in the morning. Me with my 10 o'clock office job and (in those days) rigorous grooming routines, I hadn't imagined anyone went to work without showering. I just came out with "That's disgusting! How can you?!" Blush Of course there was no coming back from that, no matter how much I fluffed.

I thought it may be slightly comforting to think that the bigmouth who insulted you will still be cringing at herself in thirty years' time Grin

slightlyconfused85 · 01/10/2014 06:21

Yanbu. I do all of this. Toddler Dd and I need to be out the house by 7.30 on a week day. There is not tine for the whole routine in the morning although I prefer a morning shower

CariadsDarling · 01/10/2014 06:31

One very thorough shower per day and one that is just a quick all over soap and water. I dont use potions and lotions, just olive oil soap and water.

Sometimes there's a third one, another very quick one, just in an out.

Its because of where I live that a third is sometimes necessary but that said even in the Uk in the winter it would always be two.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 01/10/2014 06:42

I know the smell of unwashed body and clothes but people here are making huge assumptions that it is generated by one morning of not showering. If you can smell a person's body they probably haven't washed for several days.
I've said this before on these threads. In countries like morocco where families often don't have hot water in the home, people go to the public baths twice a week. They have a more thorough wash than you've ever experienced. In between, they have strip washes or just wash with a flannel. They wash their genitals after every toilet trip so no chance of getting dirt build up there, and they do not smell. Trust me, I've stayed in a small flat with 10 people before, they have very un-English ideas of personal space and they don't smell. When they do wash they are cleaner than we ever get with our piddling baths and 5 minute showers, and we think it's so necessary to have them every day Confused

picnicbasketcase · 01/10/2014 06:48

What possible difference does it make if someone has a daily bath or a daily shower? They are still washing their body daily regardless of what time they do it. They would not be smelly or gross. Just because someone doesn't wash at the exact time you choose to doesn't make you superior to them. What a weird thing to say to anyone.
I have a shower every morning because my hair is greasy and itchy if I don't wash it. If I could get away with doing it every other day I would.

CariadsDarling · 01/10/2014 06:50

I have a Moroccan Hamam regularly and live the life of washing after every trip to the loo, and my daily soap is whats used in the Hamam.

I still like my daily showers however and not just because I don't like fiddling around at the sink and having a strip wash. Neither do I like baths but its nothing to do with them not being hygienic as someone people say they are, I just dont like the experience.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 01/10/2014 06:51

Some people seem to think that people aren't clean after a bath. Because submerging things in hot water then washing them in soap is definitely not the way we wash pretty much everything we are aiming to get clean. It's fine for dishes but not bodies apparently.
