It always make me smile when Salmond bangs on about the importance of the environment and renewables yet is relying so heavily on his billions of barrels of oil.

we have a couple of reasonably big infrastructure projects going on within a few miles of home. Noted is that hardly any of the workmen or the companies they work for are Scottish.

ChelsyHandy · 14/09/2014 15:16

Oh, that's a bit odd. A motorway convoy then? Whats the point in doing that, as opposed to marching, which needs to be organised in advance and issued a permit by the police? I mean surely it just blocks up the roads for other people? Surely the point is not to peacefully express your views, but to force other people to listen to them with a motorised convoy? Are they actually on the motorway?

WildThong · 14/09/2014 15:17

What channels that, my telly box doesn't seem to receive it?

IrnBruTheNoo · 14/09/2014 15:17

Over 4,000 people currently watching the Independence Channel for the BBC Bias Protest. Didn't honestly expect that many folk to be tuning in!

CoreyTrevorLahey · 14/09/2014 15:18

While I don't necessarily agree that fontella's posts are hoaching with it, I support chair's assertion that bigotry has been present on these threads and in the media.

As I said last night, it's one of the things that has upset me most through the Indy Ref debate. I'm a No now but have been a Yes.

You don't have to be stupid to vote Yes just as you don't have to be stupid to vote No.

Just as idiots on the Yes side will blame everything on England, kick in 'No thanks' signs and wrongly bring up colonialist practices, idiots on the No side will paint Yessers as led by emotion, heedrum hodrum nationalists without a Higher between 100 of them.

And this has extended, in many cases to Scots in general: the notion that, as a people we're a bit of a joke at best and intolerant parochialists at worst.

I respect the sensible, thoughtful posts from both sides on these threads. I've never considered myself as patriotic (Scottish, British, whatever) but the other stuff hurts and I don't think my fellow Scots deserve it.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 15:18

as long as they don't have sashes and drums it's ok to cause disruption apparently

Have Murdoch and Salmond had a spat? Murdoch's latest tweet seems a bit pointed.

'Coincidence or fate? Sept 18 2014 700 years since Battle of Bannockburn threw off English yoke. But now SNP wants to swap UK rule for EU.'

BakerStreetSaxRift · 14/09/2014 15:19

Not when I saw them, Chelsy, they must have just come off the motorway. They are going through red lights too, and seem to have a police motorbike escort.

Oh goodie, it's starting again...

Angry
IrnBruTheNoo · 14/09/2014 15:19

haha are you honestly expecting the BBC to broadcast this?! They'll not do it because it draws attention to the Yes campaign.

OneNight · 14/09/2014 15:19

Be fair, IrnBru - at least half of those will be media representatives. Wink

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 15:20

If it;s the same convoy it was actually held last month from Aberdeen to Glasgow. But they failed to plan it far enough in advance and Glasgow refused to issue a permit to "parade" in Glasgow so they had to stop at Strathclyde park. This is kind of a rerun of the bits they couldn't do originally as Glasgow needed a minimum period of notice.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 15:20

Thanks Irn

livingzuid · 14/09/2014 15:21

one I know there is some sort of plan to grow Scotland into a renewable energy world leader, which it does already. Those plans are well advanced though. Nothing new from the yes campaign. Not sure about everything else.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 15:21

Squoosh That is very strange, something affoot?

OP posts:
OneNight · 14/09/2014 15:22

I don't know, squoosh. A day or two ago he was discussing the merits of Page 3 attire on Twitter. I can't imagine being on a political platform with that guy nor listening to virtually anything he says.

IrnBruTheNoo · 14/09/2014 15:22

As long as it stays peaceful, I don't think there's anything wrong with having a protest.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 15:25

Oh I know OneNight, but what with his visit to Scotland yesterday it seemed like he was teasing out a big referendum 'reveal' which people seemed to think would be the Sun saying Yes. Now he's backtracking. Which of course may have been his plan all along I suppose.

Everything Murdoch does is for Murdoch.

ChelsyHandy · 14/09/2014 15:25

What an embarrassment. It actually feels to me like a foreign country.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 15:27

Have you tuned in yet to the Independence Channel yet Chelsy?

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 15:27

I've been keeping an eye on Murdoch's tweets - he's definitely enjoying keeping people guessing that's for sure.

IrnBruTheNoo · 14/09/2014 15:28

WildThong DH and myself were both just saying how embarrassing too Blush Some folk are really showing themselves up on the wee text feed bit at the right hand side of the site!!

Not sure what YES YES YES ad infinitum is meant to achieve, personally....

cricketpitch · 14/09/2014 15:29

Esmum07 makes some good points - especially about the pound. If it is YES it is going to cost the rest of the UK a lot of money - they are not going to give away more than they have to. There are poor people here too. And food banks. The population of London is not the whole of the UK and whilst London might weather this storm some of the other places will suffer.

OneNight · 14/09/2014 15:29

I think I posted about this at the top of the previous page squoosh,
