And what exactly is the point you are trying to make with that poster?

dementedma · 14/09/2014 17:58

grovel a letter from FIVE previous Sea Lords, backed up by the Supreme Allied Commander for Europe plus a former Chief of Staff, all expressing concern was met with the measured response from the SNP if " scaremongering".
Oh well, that's OK then!

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 17:58

How was it Phaedra? I didn't manage to make it unfortunately.

Sallyingforth · 14/09/2014 17:59

I think it's a bit unfair to call the no voters calculating and more reserved, I am sure everyone on both sides has done about as much thinking and deciding as they can based on the information available to them

I expected some reaction to my post, of course.
I wrote of a tendency, not a hard and fast description of all Yes and No voters.
To be clear, the great majority of eligible voters have not demonstrated on the streets - fortunately, because there just isn't room.
That tendency of the two camps explains the different levels of support amongst the small proportion of voters on the streets.

And I do most certainly maintain that a substantial number of Yes supporters have been swept along with the excitement rather than made a cool, calm, assessment. For the simple reason that many of them have neglected to realise how much the SNP has misled them and how much they will suffer after a Yes vote. Again not all , but many.

Sallyingforth · 14/09/2014 18:04

Rita
Thank you for posting that picture. It nicely confirms my point about many (not all) Yes supporters following SNP rabble-rousing propaganda rather than understanding the serious issues at stake.

PhaedraIsMyName · 14/09/2014 18:08

Stat it was great, no idea how many were there but a fantastic atmosphere. I'm seeing nothing of it being reported.

Of course the Yes demonstration at the BBC probably knocks everything off the top spot. Funny that despite being so incensed by it they held off to the Sunday of the last weekend to make a fuss.

ChelsyHandy · 14/09/2014 18:09

That particular analogy isn't in particularly good taste is it Rita, considering the news headline that we woke up to this morning.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 14/09/2014 18:11

That's the woman better together thought best represented the female no voters.

I was outraged at the advert, thought it was insulting.

But now I'm starting to see why they chose to go with that campaign.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 18:13

rita I don't want to be accused of generalising, so I'll just say that your posting that picture confirms what I think about you Angry
Joking about Isis after yesterday's events! Fucking unbelievable.

'But now I'm starting to see why they chose to go with that campaign.'

Passive aggression is tedious, if you have a dig you want to make just make it.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 18:14

phaedra Just a co-incidence I'm sure..

Nothing to fear but fear itself.

Sallyingforth · 14/09/2014 18:14

Chelsy
I decided not to mention that, but since you have may I add that it's just another example of the lack of sensible thought that goes into some (not all) Yes propaganda.

IrnBruTheNoo · 14/09/2014 18:15

"If that clip is what the shouting is about then I think it is OTT. He doesn't answer the question, really. He talks around it. It's not worthy of a huge protest demanding someone loses their job."

Are you for real?! This is seriously a huge lie that the BBC have made up claiming AS did not 'respond' to NR's question. Whether or not people feel he answered the question, is subjective. But AS's answer should have at least been paraphrased, for example, 'AS responded by claiming x y or z'. It's not exactly rocket science is it, and perhaps the BBC would not be accused of being biased??

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 14/09/2014 18:18

Irn it's just an example of no supporters getting swept away in their own hype. Just like they like to accuse the yes supporters of doing.

PhaedraIsMyName · 14/09/2014 18:19

Rita you've lost me now. I have no idea what your last post is supposed to mean. We know it's the woman from the BT ad. It's been childishly and unfunnily doctored by yes supporters.

PhaedraIsMyName · 14/09/2014 18:21

Yes and the ISIS " joke" is pathetic.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 18:21

irn the point you make is valid. However I'd bet my wages that 90% of the 'protesters' today turned up because they were told Nick Robinson and the BBC are liars, biased, end of. Having watched some of it on your link and read the sidebar comments, I doubt many of those folk would know the difference between 'respond to' and 'answer'

Still don't think it's worth a protest and a man losing his job.

OP posts:
IrnBruTheNoo · 14/09/2014 18:24

I'm getting really hacked off with the blase attitude of the No side on this thread about what happened at that conference. As if to say 'oh well he didn't answer the question'. It's not the truth, it was covered up by the BBC! They heavily edited the clip so that AS was made out to have 'not responded'. It is untrue.

Who are you to decide if AS answer is worthy or not, BBC. At least show him answering it, or paraphrase his answer!!

IrnBruTheNoo · 14/09/2014 18:25

Thank you for acknowledging this WildThong Flowers was beginning to think I was going senile!

AnnieHoo · 14/09/2014 18:28

I'm glad Her Maj has said something even if it was just a passing neutral observation.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 18:31

I don't think, having watched it, that it warrants 100s of people protesting, blocking roads and demanding sackings. I notice they are not only demanding his sacking either

Rita, the ISIS joke is vile. and your passive aggression is utterly dull. If you are trying to imply that the No voters on this thread are worthy of patronising and not capable of doing proper research then you are wholly incorrect as is blatantly obvious to people reading the thread.

Sallyingforth · 14/09/2014 18:31

IrnBru
Be hacked off if you like.
I'm far more hacked off at the BBC repeatedly broadcasting Salmond's lies about a currency union and EU membership, in the face of documentary evidence to the contrary.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 18:34

Irn i didn't say there was nothing wrong. I said the reaction was OTT. I stand by that view - the reaction is excessive.
