Dear god, if that is accurate (not doubting you Rose just don't know the original source IYSWIM) then that is utterly insane

Putting a 2 year redundancy notice on businesses is utterly insane. That's a quick way to guarantee that companies will move more staff, as fast as possible, as they won't want their operations to be so dramatically constrained.

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 16:42

Interesting rose, Sillars speaks a lot of sense. Margo would be rolling in her grave just now if she knew what was going on with all the dirty tactics being played by WM.

On-line misses a chunk of older people who do vote come what may. All our parents/ILs are like that.

EarthWindFire · 12/09/2014 16:43

Looking at the quote that Rose posted, now who is scaremongering Shock

EarthWindFire · 12/09/2014 16:45

I agree. I think it could backfire and more will move earlier than they planned.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/09/2014 16:45

Also saying it's the first time all the polls have been purely online.

The latest poll from ICM was purely telephone Confused

Scot goes Pop is good for poll analysis/descriptions of methodologies weighting etc ( With a Yes bias)

WildThong · 12/09/2014 16:45

I think she seemed a genuine person, although I did not know her. Perhaps Margo would be rolling in her grave just now if she knew what was going on with all the dirty tactics being played by the Yes campaign.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 12/09/2014 16:45

Bardar indeed - but I guess that they can quite easily adjust their figures to reflect that. Stats not sure if they can / do that?

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 16:45

It is not difficult to interpret, reading between the lines (well, this is just my interpretation of it) I'd say Sillars is saying 'F you WM' let's get spreading that wealth. No more fat cats.

But that's just me....

When did two years redundancy notice come in? In my experience in FS, some people go immediately with payment in lieu of notice, for medium numbers of redundancies there is a 30 day consultation period, and for larger scale redundancies a 90 day consultation.

OneNight · 12/09/2014 16:46

In many ways the participants (particularly the Yes campaign I think) are starting to remind me of fundamentalist religions. If you're in, or a true convert, you have to be all in and if you're outside you and all your works are completely excluded. Maybe this zealotry and sense of purpose is the reason why the referendum is resonating with certain sectors of the community in Scotland.

PhaedraIsMyName · 12/09/2014 16:47

It would not give him any credibility if he made it up, would it?!

I'm glad you agree Salmond lacks credibility then - given the stuff he has made up.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 12/09/2014 16:47

Aha all land-line. Confused

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 12/09/2014 16:47

Sillars speaks a lot of sense Shock

I have sympathy for a small number of very specific things like trains being renationalised, but this is heading back to the seventies!

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 16:47

if being the crux of it though Phaedra. Thanks for singling out my posts though. You're making me feel, oh so special! :)

Original source was following a twitter link to a Facebook page called 1001 but his speech is now being quoted by the BBC on the referendum bit that updates every few minutes.

WildThong · 12/09/2014 16:50

It's being picked up everywhere now (no wonder)
On the Hootsman website too.

Sallyingforth · 12/09/2014 16:50

If that Sillars link is accurate it shows that the SNP is lurching to extreme nationalism even quicker than its historical precedents.

Any business reading this will have no doubt where its duties to its shareholders lie. It will be leaving Scotland, yes or no.

WildThong · 12/09/2014 16:50

1001 campaign
here

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/09/2014 16:51

Bardar they do adjust the polls to get a more representative sample by weighting results - interestingly the first yougov had unweighted results which put No in front. I haven't looked at this one in depth. I believe age is one of the weighting factors for most. But it's not foolproof by any stretch.
OOAOML I think that's his "proposal" rather than already happened.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/09/2014 16:51

Also on the Herald.

While I might personally agree with the sentiment of what he said is just one person.

Does George Galloway represent the will of the No campaign?

elastamum · 12/09/2014 16:52

The Sillars speech, if true, is a massive piece of stupidity on part of the yes campaign.

In one go, should the vote be yes, he has shown potential new business investors that they should be very cautious in investing in an independent Scotland and told existing companies that he has every intention in using bully boy tactics if they don't bow down to him.

Utter madness.

Roseformeplease · 12/09/2014 16:54

He used to be Deputy leader of the SNP. His views are part of the SNP establishment.

Also, like the post earlier on the thread from Mike Russell's book. How do they have meetings and agree with each other - one wants to nationalise everything and the other wants to privatise the NHS.

Cabinet meetings must be fun! But, hey, as long as it is a Yes, they will say what they need to for votes.

WildThong · 12/09/2014 16:54

irn I'm a No and have criticised the BT campaign at times. It's okay to say when something is wrong or has gone too far, surely you are not agreeing with Jim Sillars extremist views

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/09/2014 16:55

That is possibly the most dangerous and potentially damaging quote I have seen. If there is any hint from the wider campaign that they support that approach then I would anticipate jobs moving very quickly in the event of a Yes vote.
