That was for TeamScotland's blog?

ffallada · 12/09/2014 13:44

oh - and Michelle Mone has been threatening to leave Scotland since the SNP came into power. She has yet to bugger off though.....

EarthWindFire · 12/09/2014 13:45

Team WM is not to be trusted.

And 'team Scotland is!?

I hate all this team Westminster/team Scotland. It adds to the myth that those who vote no are not 'Scottish' and leads to the vile comments made to my friends DC this week.

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/09/2014 13:45

Ah Ok, so every news source is biased, and now every company who disagrees is a tory company. Right.

But it's fine cos what Scotland really needs to help with it's health problems is to make alcohol cheaper.

AnnieHoo · 12/09/2014 13:46

Sally I find it frightening that these separatist groups are watching us. mamma has been on the thread recently telling us about her experiences in Lombardy.

cedricsneer · 12/09/2014 13:46

Shock Bardabunga. I am so naive Blush. There is a lot of Scottish coverage using that mumsnet poll as evidence for women swinging to yes. And that reporting implies that salmond won the debate.

Are we going to have another poll? I'd be v interested in the result. Again, apologies that I am so far behind the threads - between this and twitter I feel like I am doing nothing else, but I'm still miles behind Grin.

PhaedraIsMyName · 12/09/2014 13:47

Watched RT news this morning, fantastic report on Catalan region and their hopes of independence. They are watching with great interest.

I'm sure they are although why that is supposed to make anyone think yes is a good idea hardly follows.

cricketpitch · 12/09/2014 13:50

I agree too that the Team WM and Team Scotland is divisive and inaccurate. It oversimplifies things.

Scots who are NO voters are still Scots
Scots who live in other parts of the UK at the moment are still Scots but have no vote
Not everyone in the rest of the UK is pro Tory
It is insulting to assume that England, Wales and N Ireland can be reduced to Team WM

ffallada · 12/09/2014 13:50

Nope - and its statements like 'every company who disagrees is a tory company' that indicates that team no are not looking beyond the headlines.

Which are controlled by the 'no' press.

Which makes me despair that this vote is going to go ahead without people actually being aware of what they are being told and by whom

Was I the only person who turned up to school the day they said always look at your source for bias?

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 13:51

"oh - and Michelle Mone has been threatening to leave Scotland since the SNP came into power. She has yet to bugger off though....."

But ffallada how can she leave such a beautiful country? She loves it so much, remember.

RT has an agenda of course.
To find, encourage and display dissent in every EU country.
It takes attention away from what Russia is doing in Ukraine.

PhaedraIsMyName · 12/09/2014 13:52

The Deborah Orr article was a list of platitudes. It had no substance in it. It would have uplifted you if you agreed with her premise that it is a good thing otherwise it had nothing to say.

EarthWindFire · 12/09/2014 13:52

Was I the only person who turned up to school the day they said always look at your source for bias?

That works both ways too

squoosh · 12/09/2014 13:52

I hate all this team Westminster/team Scotland. It adds to the myth that those who vote no are not 'Scottish' and leads to the vile comments made to my friends DC this week.

Me too. It's inflammatory and divisive and bloody incorrect to suggest that if someone isn't on Team Alex they're somehow anti-Scotland.

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 13:53

"You are normalising the harassing of those you disagree with. Is this something to be proud of Irn?"

First off, I don't condone abusing other people in the streets, I think I've made this very clear in earlier threads. I do not think it's acceptable behaviour from either side of the campaign.

The imperial march was done in good humour.

Are the Yes side not allowed to walk down city streets of Glasgow at the same time as the MPs who came up? If this vote is all about Scottish people making their own decisions, why on earth are they even here?!

OP posts:
ffallada · 12/09/2014 13:54

I don't agree - I think team WM and Team Scotland (although I might have preferred Team Yes) is quite a good way of describing the cross-party support each camp has.

I have not, and don't know anyone who has, suggested that no voters are any less Scottish (although I have read that some people have come across this)

I have been subject to some quite hateful, bulling and belittling no voters through. Doesn't make them any less Scottish. Just makes them twats.

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 13:55

"Team WM is not to be trusted."

Too right!

OP posts:
PhaedraIsMyName · 12/09/2014 13:56

Apparently Russian separatists in the Ukraine support yes too. Completely irrelevant but if we're throwing in the Catalans are behind us then may as well add the Russians in too.

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/09/2014 13:56

No, I was commenting on your rhetoric. Just because they are "a tory company", assuming they even are, does not inherently change the validity of their message.

I generally look at factual sources. Unlike the people linking to wings and similar sources.

PhaedraIsMyName · 12/09/2014 13:57

But we know Alex has told blatant lies about the EU.

Sallyingforth · 12/09/2014 13:58

Naturally the Yes camp like to claim no = WM.

It's just another dishonest SNP tactic.

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 13:58

"RT has an agenda of course. "

And the BBC don't?!! I will take RT or Aljazeera News any day thanks!

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 12/09/2014 13:58

No, team Scotland is frankly insulting. Just because I an voting no does not mean I am not on "Team Scotland." that's simply an expansion of the ludicrous traitor rhetoric which is doing the rounds

Sallyingforth · 12/09/2014 14:00

But we know Alex has told blatant lies about the EU.

And the CU.

IrnBruTheNoo · 12/09/2014 14:02

It's loosely done to refer to politicians in Westminster Government, and to politicians backing the Yes campaign. I'd hardly call that lumping all of England and Wales in as one entity= WM! It's not how I've been looking at it, but we all have our own interpretations of things. If others prefer to skew what's said to suit their own agenda then fair enough. I've never termed 'Team Scotland' or 'Team WM' as anything other than referring to two political entities.
