Wild thong I'me reading back along the thread - Douglas Alexander did well I thought last night when I saw him interviewed by Gavin Esler.

TeamScotland · 09/09/2014 11:04

Er, England and Scotland are made up of people of the same race(s). If they tell each other to fuck off, they're being bigoted arses, but not racists.

chocoluvva · 09/09/2014 11:04

That's awful LovelyRita. It won't make anyone feel better hopefully.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 09/09/2014 11:06

Are you 10 and was it is your pal said that Loveley?Grin If it was I 'd be horrified, otherwise you are right it's political argybargy.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 11:06

I've got a ton of tales from yes supporters of abuse, verbal and physical attacks the that I could post. But I work on the assumption, hope, that it's a idiotic minority acting like that.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 11:07

An almost 7 month old article....and you don't think we could be at least as likely to end up in recession alone? Really?

WildThong · 09/09/2014 11:08

itsall poor show. You actually did a trawl to find something. Thought better of you. That hardly compares to children being racially abused on the way to school.

Have you ever heard the song, we hate Jimmy Hiil, he's a p*
Homophobia and racism wrapped up in jolly banter.

WildThong · 09/09/2014 11:09

ALERT - radio 5live coming up, mumsnet & the referendum

chocoluvva · 09/09/2014 11:09

I've just had a brief chat with a yes voter who is hoping that Scotland will come out of the EU as he thinks EU membership is incompatible with the ideal of independence.

oddcommentator · 09/09/2014 11:10

Bardar. And there you have it. The yes campaign is a rainbow coalition consisting of
a) The dyed in the wool anti-english. They always have and always will. Vote or no vote. Hate. It burns bright - look at their eyes - it burns so bright - like the student radical who wants to bring revolution, like the person who is happy to round up his neighbours based on their ethnicity. It is the look of the zealot.

b) the idealistic - seduced by the language of the whitepaper they are voting for what they think Scotland will be like free of the yoke of a larger neighbour. Expect everything from more taxes, to more green, to more heavy industry. Seizing on the simplistic linguistics of the white paper - they project their vision of perfection and are voting for that. A socialist, multicultural utopia, no rich people, everything fair and every is lovely.
c) the political - they hate the tories and this is one in the eye for them and they see potential for their own careers
d) the cynical - fed up with westminster - lets give this lot a try - cant be any worse can it
e) the irreparably dim - they believe what AS and the SNP have told them. You see a) and b) want to take away all the things he has promised you. The pound, the head of sate, the DVLC, the BBC - they want it gone but you believe him anyway.

ladycordelia - has hit the nail on the head - after independence the idealists will be busy politicking but the group a) will have a field day. Already there is talk of land redistribution - or for want of a better word - the state forcibly seizing the assets of citizens for nothing more than they way they voted. A number of countries have gone this way - and there isnt a single case where hatred of your neighbour has proven an effective means of establishing a new state.

A vote for independence is inadvertently giving the power to the racists, to the hate-mongers, to those would would rather see their country burn than do business with their neighbour. for sure you are voting for a lovely fluffy ideologically pure new elysium but the people who will be running the show are those on the streets telling the english cunts to go home. They will have huge amounts of power - the ones with hate burning in their soul and you will have to stand by as they settle scores and get the English cunts out of their country. SNP / BNP -not much in it in my book. smart suits, language of reasonableness. Of course Scottish jobs for Scottish workers makes sense. Brings about the new Utopia - a fairer society, a more just society. but underneath is the very simple seam of hatred - for "them". the english? the eastern europeans? the gypsies? whoever next.

weatherall · 09/09/2014 11:11

I spend a lot of time in England.

I experience a fair bit of anti-Scottishness there.

But I don't label a whole nation xenophobes because of comments of a minority.

I believe that Scottish independence will be a good thing for ruk.

People who currently don't vote will see from the yes campaign that if you can join together with others on a single issue you can enact change which can benefit everyone.

squoosh · 09/09/2014 11:13

'I've just had a brief chat with a yes voter who is hoping that Scotland will come out of the EU as he thinks EU membership is incompatible with the ideal of independence.'

Yikes. What a dimwit.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 11:14

Can you summarise after wildthong for folk who can't listen?

IrnBruTheNoo · 09/09/2014 11:14

What utter tripe odd.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 09/09/2014 11:15

oddcommentator you have the typing skills to express what I see about me in my community in Scotland at the moment.
My middle-class numptie neighbours are the ones that annoy me the most I have to say.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 11:15

Been called sweaty sock several times when working down south. That's pleasant.

weatherall · 09/09/2014 11:15

chocoluvva

The Scottish population is 5.3 million www.nrscotland.gov.uk/news/2014/scotlands-population-at-its-highest-ever not the 4.5 you said.

Why are you churning out so much misinformation?

Do you not bother to check your sources?

Why is the better together strategy to make Scotland feel small.

Our population is the highest it has ever been!

oddcommentator · 09/09/2014 11:15

He isnt wrong tho is he - Scotland will be leaving the EU.

Though he is voting yes based on the opposite of the stated policy of the yes campaign? So he is really spectacularly dim.

Maybe they should make people pass an exam before they vote.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 09/09/2014 11:16

I don't share your bleak view of the future though.

IrnBruTheNoo · 09/09/2014 11:16

"Maybe they should make people pass an exam before they vote."

Can you make yourself sound any more of a bigot?

Pot kettle and all that.

oddcommentator · 09/09/2014 11:17

so Irnbru - are you a,b,c,d or e?

or is my opinion invalid as it disagrees with your own? do tell

WildThong · 09/09/2014 11:17

sc I will try

BardarbungaBardarbing · 09/09/2014 11:17

probably because I don't want people sitting an exam before they vote!

I'm not throwing insults your way though odd. I don't have any ill feeling towards the English or Welsh or any other nationality.

If all you can do is insult the Scottish population for not being bright enough to vote, it's a very weak argument. Please try a bit harder.
