wailing and beating of breasts?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/09/2014 19:51

Better Together have got form for pulling out of things, unfortunately in many cases that means debates have to be cancelled as it is seen to be unfair for just one side to speak. I'm not sure if this is a tactic, or just because there genuinely aren't enough BT supporters.

corey - i didnt say there was pride - and i say we dismantled it. Following that as a country we have tried to build a better Britain and Commonwealth.

Did i say it had gone swimmingly? nope. But you see we were in it as a united kingdom.

So go on - sell your birthright for a mess of pottage.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 08/09/2014 19:52

Evening all. As someone further up said.. play nice, definitely nicer than this, please. Absolute carnage (oh, okay, PAs and general nastiness) will not be tolerated. Cheers.

IrnBruTheNoo · 08/09/2014 19:52

I'm actually quite annoyed at the announcement of another Royal baby at such a tense time in Scotland's future.

Could she not have announced it AFTER the referendum results?? What's ten days or so??

WildThong · 08/09/2014 19:53

Where is this story of the workers being on gardening leave?

WildThong · 08/09/2014 19:54

irn really that is low

Aye, Cameron took a sneaky wee trip up to Shetland whilst the Commonwealth Games were on and attentions were diverted:

We're no' daft!

squoosh · 08/09/2014 19:56

Why would you be annoyed? You really think the prospect of a royal baby is going to switch a Yes voter to a No?

Hilarious.

IrnBruTheNoo · 08/09/2014 19:57

No WildThong I wish them well, but really, the announcement could have waited. It's very bad timing now.

Even I'd know not to share that kind of news when there's an impending event happening that's really important. There's a time and a place for everything, IMO.

Newsflash: politicians can be a bit sneaky.

A shocking revelation I know.

Odd commentator you said 'define fair?'

Fair is

-no bedroom tax
-no tax cuts for millionaires
-no welfare cap
-no increasing the age for the single room rate for HB
-no ATOS
-no ESA

  • no workfare
-no dla cut and repackaged into pip -no child tax credit cut -no working tax credit cut -no cut in childcare element of wtc -no proposals to limit number of children child benefit can be claimed for -no proposals to cut benefits for under 25s -no to draconian benefit sanctions -no to abolishing the social fund -no to increasing the pension age -raising VAT -no £500 fee to take discriminatory dismissal to tribunal -no increase of minimum wage to a living wage -no to charging lone parents to use the csa -no tuition fees -no prescription charges -no 9% MP pay rise

I'm voting yes for an independent scotland where we will never have a Tory or blue Labour Party force these unfair polices on Scotland against our democratic will.

Luckytwo · 08/09/2014 19:57

I am a scot living in England trying desperately to understand.
Who are bnp and the orange order supporting ? Why has it become a sectarian/fascist debate ?
I find the whole thing quite shocking. I never thought it would be so close, I am afraid for my beautiful country, and what happens after. Half the country will be devastated by the result. Is this what salmond really wanted ?
Madness !!

squoosh · 08/09/2014 19:58

Yes, I've seen that a few hundred times on Twitter.

WildThong · 08/09/2014 19:59

Ah, Yet Another Conspiracy!
I remember it now, it's the 'secret' visit where he had his picture taken with a wee pony and tweeted it.

Iirc, it was debunked as mince.

squoosh · 08/09/2014 19:59

Anyone who thinks the Royal Foetus can tempt Yes votes back to the path of No needs their head examined. Or a new tin foil hat at the very least.

IrnBruTheNoo · 08/09/2014 19:59

Yes I'm now laughing at the 'Oldest Trick in the Book' cartoon! Fantastic. thanks for that itsall :) Brought a bit humour to the situation I suppose.

A royal baby affecting the referendum?

I thought I saw Kate looking at
www.mumsnet.com/pregnancy/due-date-calculator

This is getting rather silly. I'm out for a day (or two)

It's all- the refusal of BT to partake in debates/public meetings has been going on for 18 months+.

It was a deliberate strategy by them to discourage people from going because they could say 'it was one sided'.

But people saw through this and turned up at meetings anyway.

WildThong · 08/09/2014 20:02

lucky a sectarian/fascist debate. Not at all, these have nothing to do with the Referendum despite daft accusations being flung. This is just politics.
