DP's darling sister uploaded photos of her 9~ month old in McDonald's eating fries and chicken nuggets.

We KNOW junk food is bad, why give it to such a young baby? Why give it to your child at all?!

One junk meal in an otherwise healthy diet will do no harm at all.

Meh! As long as the baby enjoyed it, it filled them up and it's not given often, I can think of far worse things to get het up about.

It's not something I'd do, but that doesn't mean that anyone else who chooses to do that occasionally is a bad parent.

I have photos of DD1 as a 9mo noshing on a chip. She's a slim trim 13yo these days. Everything in moderation, forbidding certain foods is completely counterproductive.

Everything in moderation, although I wouldn't have fed maccyDs to my dcs at that age. To be fair I wouldn't eat there now, but my DH and adult Ds does.

DS1 didn't have a Maccy D's until he was 3! It just never happened. DS2 was 11 months old poor bugger. We were having a new kitchen fitted so needs must.

Both kids are healthy and slim. It's just food.

Like a previous poster my parents were really strict about food, I am also a lardarse with major food issues.

Silver - it's unhealthy, why give your baby unhealthy things? Why give your kids bad habits? Obesity and health issues in the UK have been rising, diabetes and heart disease and so on. Seems like a disadvantage to get babies hooked on stuff like that at all.

You could always give them fruit which is also 'nice'.

And no, I don't dislike her, we get on fine, I was just shocked that she was feeding her baby (who she was so excited to have!) unhealthy crap.

I agree with Harold, it sound's like you have bigger issues with that mum than a chicken nugget. Ok it's probably not the best food for a 9mo old but I think to be labelling her as a bad parent on the basis of this is a bit too judgy.

OP all things in moderation. Let her parents worry about their child. Just think if she has an obese teenager in 14 years time you can through this one in her face

Food addiction is a proven thing, particularly to high salt and high sugar foods like the stuff you get in fast food places. I don't think it's a good idea to form those habits and connections, e.g. having junk food as a 'treat'. Lots of things taste good without being detrimental to your health.
